The longball was Kirk’s first of the season, but the 26-year-old has gotten off to a solid start with a .261/.286/.370 slash line. He won’t hit for a ton of power or walk much, but he should post a solid batting average in a good lineup, which keeps him on the radar in deeper formats.

Scherzer is slated to throw another live batting practice session this weekend as he continues to work his way back from a lingering thumb issue that has derailed his season. There’s no timetable for his return yet, but it’s a positive sign that he’s been throwing without any setbacks,

Clase joins Toronto’s crowded corner outfield mix after hitting .315 with 15 steals in 27 games this season for Triple-A Buffalo. The 22-year-old is unlikely to garner enough playing time to make a significant impact for fantasy purposes.

There simply isn’t a consistent everyday role for Roden at the highest level with Daulton Varsho, George Springer and Anthony Santander all healthy with bench players like Nathan Lukes and Myles Straw still hanging around. The 25-year-old rookie will get a chance to play everyday at Triple-A Buffalo until he gets another extended opportunity at the highest level. He struggled to a lackluster .178/.262/.260 triple-slash line with one homer and five RBI in 28 games in his first taste of the majors.

Moreno came off the bench to take over behind the plate after Jose Herrera was lifted for a pinch-hitter in the late stages of the contest. He went hitless in his lone at-bat. The 25-year-old has been held out of the lineup for two straight games due to left side soreness.

Contreras was diagnosed with a fractured left middle finger, which he has been playing through for “some time.” The lingering issue hasn’t impacted his on-field performance yet, but it could become problematic if he’s unable to grip a bat or properly close his glove while catching. Fantasy managers shouldn’t anticipate the 27-year-old slugging backstop missing any time, but it’s an injury situation he’ll need to manage moving forward.

Moreno was scratched Tuesday due to soreness in his side, and the Diamondbacks will have him begin Wednesday’s contest on the bench again. He was available off the bench Tuesday, so there’s a chance he’ll be available for this one as well. In the meantime, Jose Herrera will start behind the plate.
