Contreras was diagnosed with a fractured left middle finger, which he has been playing through for “some time.” The lingering issue hasn’t impacted his on-field performance yet, but it could become problematic if he’s unable to grip a bat or properly close his glove while catching. He received an injection on Wednesday to address the pain and inflammation. Fantasy managers shouldn’t anticipate the 27-year-old slugging backstop missing any time, but it’s an injury situation he’ll need to manage moving forward.

Myers tossed three scoreless frames before giving up two runs in the fourth on a walk, two hits, and a sacrifice fly. He’s given up no more than two runs in a start but isn’t going very deep into games at this point. The 26-year-old right-hander will take a 3.86 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, and an 11/10 K/BB ratio across 16 1/3 innings into a start against the Twins in Milwaukee next Saturday.

Caratini deserves better than being the backup to a quality catcher in Yainer Diaz, but not enough teams realized it when he was a free agent two winters ago. The Astros used both guys tonight, with Diaz going 2-for-4 with two RBI as a DH. Caratini is batting .255/.356/.431 in 59 plate appearances in his limited role.

The Red Sox are trying to ease Connor Wong back into action as he returns from a broken finger, but the truth is that Narváez deserves to be the team’s starting catcher right now. He’s the better defender of the two, and he’s done a nice job offensively in hitting .245/.304/.426 with four homers and 13 RBI in 102 plate appearances.

Langeliers knocked base hits in the third and fifth inning before stepping to the plate with two runners on in the seventh. He came through in a big spot, taking Fernando Cruz deep to center field for a three-run blast to put the A’s ahead. Langeliers then extended the lead with a two-run double in the ninth. The 27-year-old catcher is slashing .248/.308/.473 with eight homers and 22 RBI over 143 plate appearances. Langeliers has made tremendous strides in his contact skills, cutting his strikeout rate to an excellent 14.7 percent.
