Hoffman took over with a two-run lead to protect in this one and wasn’t quite as sharp as he normally has been — issuing a one-out walk to Nolan Jones and a two-out double to Steven Kwan that put the tying runs in scoring position. He battled back though, getting Gabriel Arias to ground out to third base to end the ballgame. Hoffman has been a major weapon out of the Jays’ bullpen this season, posting a 1.10 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and a 23/2 K/BB ratio over 16 1/3 innings while securing three victories and seven saves.

Bassitt struck out four opposing hitters on the evening and did not allow a base on balls. He served up a pair of solo home runs in the ballgame — to Carlos Santana in the second inning and Bo Naylor in the fourth. Bassitt also gave up an RBI single to Santana in the sixth inning. The 36-year-old right-hander got 11 whiffs on 98 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 27 percent. Still 2-2 on the season, he’ll bring a 2.95 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and a 43/7 K/BB ratio (39 2/3 innings) into Thursday’s matchup against the Angels in Los Angeles.

Finally, some genuine signs of life from Diaz. He was just a few feet shy of a two-homer game as his double fell just short of the wall and he scorched each of those hits at least 104 mph off the bat. He’s recorded a hit in seven of his last nine games and over that span took a paltry .404 OPS all the way up to a still very mediocre .597 OPS.

The 29-year-old hurler will add a fresh arm to the Mets’ bullpen in advance of Friday night’s battle against the Cardinals. He had registered a 4.35 ERA, 1.84 WHIP and a 14/9 K/BB ratio over 10 1/3 innings at Triple-A Syracuse. Ty Adcock was optioned out in a corresponding move on Friday.

Evan in a month where Contreras didn’t exactly live up to his lofty expectations, the approach never changed. With two free passes, he’s drawn two walks in back-to-back games, and his on-base percentage is a very healthy .376 over the first 30 games of 2025. He’s also hit a decent .260 in that timeframe, but fantasy managers are still waiting to see some pop from Contreras on a more consistent basis with just three five -base hits over 107 at-bats. The pop should start showing up, as he’s far too talented a hitter to be slugging just .365 for much longer.
