The second double was a 386-foot fly that would have been a homer in 13 ballparks. As is, Verdugo is still looking for his first homer as a member of the Braves. He’s hitting a fine .322/.385/.441, however.

Sale allowed the first two batters to reach in the first inning, but escaped the trouble with two strikeouts and a groundout. He scattered six more runners and pitched into the seventh inning, collecting ten strikeouts on 18 whiffs for his second straight double-digit strikeout performance. The 36-year-old left-hander had to settle for a no-decision with no run support. He’ll take a 4.07 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, and a 56/11 K/BB ratio across 42 innings into a start against the Pirates in Pittsburgh on Sunday.

Nimmo appeared to re-aggravate an ongoing left knee issue during Tuesday’s game at Chase Field on an awkward play in the left-field corner, but managed to remain in the contest. The 32-year-old on-base machine will likely be limited to DH duty for the next couple days in an effort to keep him off his feet and manage the issue. It’s a positive sign for the Mets and fantasy managers that he’s able to remain in the lineup without needing extra time off.

The speedy centerfielder is off to his best start in a professional season, slashing .315/.357/.348 in 28 games at Triple-A with 10 steals. He doesn’t hit for much power and is striking out more than he ever has before, so it’s fair to wonder if this lasts, but he did steal 24 bases last year in 102 games, so he could be a deep league option for speed alone if he were to get the call to come up to Miami at any point.
