The Orioles could have sat Mullins against the lefty tonight — they did sit their other platoon guys — but he’s simply been too good. The homer came off left-handed reliever Joey Cantillo. It was just his second in 111 plate appearances against southpaws since the beginning of last year.

The Orioles just activated O’Neill off the 10-day injured list Friday, and they’ll likely give him a day or two off to make sure his neck injury doesn’t flare up. Heston Kjerstad and Ryan O’Hearn will be the corner outfielders for Saturday’s bout against the Halos.

Holliday has looked the part as of late, and is hitting .384/.417/.682 in his six games in the month of May. Meanwhile, Cedric Mullins has gone just 1-for-26 over his last few contests, so he’ll be bumped down to sixth against the Halos on Saturday. Holliday is an intriguing fantasy option hitting lower because of his skill set, but there’s a lot more to like if he can hit at the top of this lineup.

Holliday also drew a walk for a nifty three-reach game, and picked up his second double of the campaign. The 21-year-old has picked up hits in six of his seven games played in May, and since the middle of April, he’s (mostly) looked like the player who was ranked by most as the top prospect in baseball. The future is bright, but this version of Holliday certainly has relevancy in most fantasy leagues.

The Pirates are calling Cruz day-to-day after he left late in the contest. It seems likely that the 26-year-old will get the series finale off Sunday, but the hope is that he can return to playing center for the Pirates in the early portion of next week.

It appears to be a routine off day for Bleday, who hit a bit of a rough patch at the dish recently, batting .212 (11-for-52) with two homers over his last 15 games. The 27-year-old is the odd man out on Saturday afternoon with Brent Rooker drawing a start in right field, Tyler Soderstrom in left field and rookie Nick Kurtz at the cold corner.

Buxton’s fantastic season rolls on. He started this game with a triple that he roped into the right-center field gap and blazed around the bases like few in the league can. He’s been a true engine atop the Twins’ lineup with nine home runs, seven stolen bases, and an .872 OPS.
