This is the second straight day Yelich is out of the lineup because of renewed swelling in his right wrist after being hit by a pitch in Philadelphia on the last road trip. We’ve seen both Bryce Harper and Matt Chapman recently miss a couple of games after being hit by a pitch on the hand and then subsequently go on the injured list, so it’s not out of the question that the same thing happens with Yelich. This is a situation to monitor.

Just like the first time he was called up on March 31, Anderson is taking Aaron Civale’s spot, although it was an injury the previous time and now it’s because of a trade. Anderson has a 3.86 ERA in 32 2/3 innings out of the Milwaukee pen this season.

Alexander spent much of last season with the Diamondbacks as a 25-year-old rookie, but he opened this year on the shelf with a strained oblique and has been left in Triple-A since returning in April. Perhaps he’ll get a chance in Ildemaro Vargas’s spot if he stays hot. He’s 11-for-31 with four steals this month, and he’s at .272/.400/.456 with six homers and nine steals in 45 games overall.

Suzuki victimized Pirates’ southpaw Andrew Heaney for his 379-foot (103.6 mph EV) solo shot in the sixth inning, extending the Cubs’ advantage to 3-0. It would prove to be the difference in the ballgame. He’s having an outstanding season in the middle of the Cubs’ lineup, slashing .266/.325/.548 with 17 homers, 67 RBI and a pair of stolen bases.

Even Red Sox manager Alex Cora claimed he was sent aware of the injury and first found out about it when Devers failed to run out an infield grounder on Sunday. However, the Red Sox star claims he feeling better now and his groin feels better when running. It seems like this may be nothing to worry about.
