Maybe a future third-generation major leaguer? The Brewers aren’t facing any righties this weekend, so Cameron was unlikely to make any starts,

Contreras doubled in a run in the fourth, and he was able to give the Brewers a 2-1 lead in the sixth with a sac fly. It’s been a disappointing season for Contreras even before you consider the lofty expectations, as he’s still slashing just .239/.346/.340. It’s reasonable — if not probable — that Contreras will pick things up over the second half of 2025.

Megill was handed a 3-1 lead in the ninth, so fortunately the run didn’t cause a blown save. It did cause his ERA to rise to 3.06, but fantasy managers will accept that number as long as the saves keep coming. He’s now up to 14 on the season, and two strikeouts during Friday’s effort raise his K/BB ratio to 26/12. That’s far from dominant, but effective enough.

Peralta was excellent again Friday, and that gives him 12 innings of one-run baseball over his last two starts. He scattered four hits, and issued just one walk while throwing 56-of-93 pitches for strikes. The 29-year-old now has an outstanding 2.60 ERA on the season, and it’s accompanied by a 84/32 K/BB ratio over his 83 innings. Peralta’s next matchup is scheduled for Thursday in Chicago against the Cubs.

With that homer, Carroll is now up to 20 on the season. His most recent roundtripper came off Stephen Kolek and gave the Diamondbacks a 3-1 lead in the fifth inning. Carroll has been managing tightness in his hamstring, but it didn’t appear to affect him Friday.

Hernández also singled, and had the only two hits for the Dodgers off of Logan Webb. The 32-year-old outfielder has gone deep 12 times; a number that’s more impressive when you remember it’s come in 55 games because of injury. It’s nice to see some success for Hernández after his awful start to the month of June, as this broke a 4-for-40 lull coming into Friday.

It was a given that Acuña would run less in his return from a torn ACL, but we were still wondering how much less. He finally attempted and succeeded on his first steal in his 19th game of the year tonight. In his MVP season of 2023, he attempted 87 steals, with 73 successes, in 159 games.
