    Endy Rodríguez

Endy Rodriguez (finger) had his splint removed this week.

Rodriguez suffered a lacerated right index finger on April 14. Now that he is out of his splint, he “is playing catch and doing a slightly modified swing.” Once he can progress to taking full swings, we’ll have a better sense of the timeline for his return.

    Recap

Mitch Keller yielded three runs in six innings Wednesday in a loss to the Cardinals.

Keller matched his season high with six strikeouts today, but there was no support to be had from the Pirates lineup. He has dropped four straight decisions since beating the Marlins on March 28, and the Pirates have not scored more than four runs in any of the eight games he’s started this season. He’ll face the Mets next time out.

    Recap

Enmanuel Valdez went 0-for-4 on Wednesday and is 4-for-25 so far this month.

Valdez had a nice first three weeks for the Pirates, but he’s cooled off considerably, leaving him at .209/.294/.363 overall. While that’s still a little better than the Pirates’ .219/.300/.325 line as a team, it probably ensures that he’ll be sent down once Spencer Horwitz is activated from the injured list.

Gabriel Moreno (side) returned to the Diamondbacks’ starting lineup for Thursday’s matchup against the Dodgers.

Moreno came off the bench during Wednesday’s game against the Mets, so it’s no surprise to see him back behind the dish for Thursday’s series opener. The 25-year-old backstop will bat sixth against Dodgers’ right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

J.T. Realmuto is back in the starting lineup for Thursday’s game against the Rays.

Realmuto is back in the lineup just a day after leaving Wednesday’s bout against the Rays with a left foot contusion. He didn’t undergo imaging, so that removal was purely precautionary and he’s ready to roll for the series finale.

Jake Rogers (oblique) is playing catch, taking batting practice, and completing defensive drills.

Rogers is going to continue to complete his rehab process in Detroit after he joined the team on a road trip this week. If his oblique stands up to the batting practice, then he should begin a rehab assignment in the coming weeks.
