Good timing for Lux’s best game of the season, what with both Matt McLain and Austin Hays coming off the IL today. Lux will stay in the lineup against righties for now, but he needs to start showing some power; while he raised his average from .216 to .273 tonight, he remained without a homer through 63 plate appearances.

Singer’s 102 pitches produced 44 swings and just three misses. He wound up with only two strikeouts and a 19% CSW. Singer has been really solid this year in going 4-2 with a 3.66 ERA, but with his groundball rate collapsing, he needs to maintain the early season improvement in his K rate. He doesn’t seem like a very good play with a road start in Houston coming up.

This didn’t look good. Callihan suffered what appeared to be a serious-looking left arm injury when he collided with the left-field wall while attempting to make a sliding catch during the bottom of the third inning. The positive news here is that he was able to walk off the field under his own power while holding his left arm. There should be an update on his status shortly.

The second double was a 386-foot fly that would have been a homer in 13 ballparks. As is, Verdugo is still looking for his first homer as a member of the Braves. He’s hitting a fine .322/.385/.441, however.

Happ gave Chicago an early advantage when he took Giants starter Landen Roupp deep in the third inning for his third round-tripper of the season. He also tacked on an additional run with a sixth-inning sacrifice fly. The 30-year-old corner outfielder has been on a tear of late, hitting .367 (22-for-60) with two homers and 11 RBI over his last 15 games.

Arozarena told reporters he expects to return to Tuesday’s lineup after leaving Sunday’s series finale against the Rangers with a minor right hamstring issue. It doesn’t sound like a serious concern moving forward, but hamstring’s can be tricky matters. It’s a situation fantasy managers should continue to monitor closely. It’ll be Miles Mastrobuoni taking over in left field with rookie Rhylan Thomas getting into the lineup in the opposite corner.
