    Gunnar Henderson

    BAL • DH • #

Gunnar Henderson homered and tripled while helping the Orioles to a 4-1 win over the Angels on Friday.

Henderson got the party started for the O’s with a solo homer off Kyle Hendricks. He bookended the scoring with a run-scoring triple to give Baltimore their 4-1 cushion. The 23-year-old has been disappointing in 2025 with a slash of .258/.305/.450, but he’s looked much better as of late, ans is far too talented for those numbers not to inflate as we get deeper into the season.

Jackson Holliday doubled while going 2-for-3 in a win Friday for the Orioles over the Angels.

Holliday also drew a walk for a nifty three-reach game, and picked up his second double of the campaign. The 21-year-old has picked up hits in six of his seven games played in May, and since the middle of April, he’s (mostly) looked like the player who was ranked by most as the top prospect in baseball. The future is bright, but this version of Holliday certainly has relevancy in most fantasy leagues.

Félix Bautista struck out two over a scoreless inning to get a save against the Angels on Friday.

Bautista made early work of the Angels’ lineup and needed just a dozen pitches to get through the outing, with nine of those pitches landing for strikes. The 29-year-old has saved seven games in his return to the mound with a very strong 1.64 ERA to go with them. Bautista should be an elite stopper in 2025 as long as Baltimore starts winning more games.

Royce Lewis is at third base and batting seventh on Saturday against the Giants.

Lewis has gone 0-for-10 in four games since returning from the injured list earlier this week. He’s batted seventh in all three of his starts as well. It’s not a total shock that it’s taking him some time to knock off the rust after an extended layoff.

The Athletic’s Jen McCaffrey reports Red Sox owner John Henry flew to Kansas City and met with disgruntled franchise player Rafael Devers on Friday.

McCaffrey adds that Red Sox CEO Sam Kennedy and president of baseball operations Craig Breslow also made the trip to Kansas City. She also notes that Henry, with manager Alex Cora present at the time, was the only one to speak with Devers. The sit down comes just a few days after the 28-year-old slugger publicly expressed his disagreement and frustration with the team, singling out Breslow specifically, for asking him to play first base in the wake of Triston Casas’ season-ending knee injury. It’s a highly unusual situation for a team owner to make an unplanned trip to speak with a player. Breslow told reporters late Friday that there was a “productive conversation” while refusing to elaborate any further. It’s in the best interest of the Red Sox to repair a seemingly fractured relationship with their most important hitter, and expedite his seemingly inevitable move to first base, so it’s a positive sign there’s a real effort being made on those fronts.

    Shohei Ohtani

    Recap

Shohei Ohtani hit a go-ahead three run homer in the ninth to give the Dodgers an 14-11 win over the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Ohtani also doubled twice. The defending MVP came up huge with a three-run blast off Kevin Ginkel to give the Dodgers their three-run lead and ultimately a victory. He’s up to 12 homers on the season — tied for the MLB lead — and his four RBI on the night bump that total to 20. Ohtani has homered five times in May, with four of those coming over the last five games. He is an unbelievably special baseball player.
