With Cedric Mullins sitting out on Thursday, Gunnar Henderson will bat lead off, and Holliday will jump up from sixth in the order to second. Holliday is riding a hot streak right now, and the Orioles are taking advantage. This is likely just a one-game sample with no Mullins or Adley Rutschman in the lineup, but Rutschman has been struggling, so perhaps it could become a more permanent spot in the lineup for Holliday moving forward.

Kremer had eight strikeouts, topping his previous season high by two. He’s lowered his ERA from 7.04 to 5.24 with his last two starts. It’s an obvious improvement, but still not a great figure for someone who has had one of the game’s easiest schedules. He’ll face the Twins again next time out.

Another reason to think that Coby Mayo’s stay with the Orioles will be short. Rivera was quite fortunate today, picking up his hits on balls in play with xBAs of .330, .260 and .140 (he struck out in his other at-bat). Mayo was used as a DH with Rivera at third and hit balls 109.3 and 106.5 mph, but he had only one single to show for it.

The Orioles will probably send down Dylan Carlson to make room for Tyler O’Neill this weekend, but perhaps there’s a chance Kjerstad will be the move instead. With his .213/.250/.340 line in 100 plate appearances, he’s been a negative WAR guy so far. Statcast thinks he’s been pretty unlucky, but even if he had better numbers on contact, his 31/2 K/BB ratio would still be hideous.

Sweeney lined a single into right field off of Kyle Freeland in the second inning and came around to score as Zach McKinstry bounced into a fielder’s choice. He added another single the following frame and raced around to score on a single off the bat of Justyn-Henry Malloy. Sweeney has collected nine hits in his last three games, raising his batting average from .206 to .261 in the process.

The speedy infielder is expected to start running the bases by this weekend and then should progress to batting practice. He could begin a rehab assignment by the middle of May.

It seems like a routine day off for Seager with a day game after a night game. Josh Smith will start at shortstop with Joc Pederson at first base and Dustin Harris at designated hitter.
