Meyers was the only hitter in the game with more than one hit in the low-scoring affair. He knocked a base hit and stole second base in the second inning, then added a hit in the fourth before driving in the first run of the game with a single in the sixth. The 28-year-old outfielder is hitting well to start the season, slashing .289/.353/.333 with six steals over 51 plate appearances.

Blanco was solid for five of six innings, but the third inning wasn’t one of those frames. He gave up an RBI single to William Contreras, and a two-run homer to Christian Yelich in that frame. Outside of that it was solid for the 31-year-old, just one where he received just a single run of support. Blanco will pitch again Sunday versus the Reds if there’s no change to the rotation order.

Not great. Alvarez heads to the injured list after sitting out a pair of games over the weekend with a lingering right hand issue. Astros manager Joe Espada didn’t seem too concerned over the weekend, so this certainly qualifies as a mild surprise. No word yet on how much time he’s going to miss, but we’re not anticipating an extended absence. There should be some much-needed clarity on his status at some point this week after Alvarez undergoes further evaluation and imaging to determine the severity of the issue.

Walker got off to a horrendous start to this season after an oblique injury derailed his spring training. It’s not much, but he’s quietly hitting .237 with three home runs and seven RBI over his last 15 games now. Walker is still hitting just .200 with nine RBI and a .623 OPS on the season making him an interesting buy-low option for fantasy managers.

Harris is striking out less than usual, and Statcast thinks he should have a significantly better line than his current .214/.232/.328, but there just hasn’t been a lot of hard contact in the air there. It seemed like he was getting it together in the second half of April, but now he’s 1-for-19 in his last five games. The one bit of good news for those rostering him is that he’s stealing more bases than usual; he’s 7-for-8 right now after going 10-for-16 in 110 games last year.

Sánchez returns following a three-game absence due to back tightness. The 27-year-old corner outfielder boasts an underwhelming .599 OPS with one homer and one steal in 15 games.

The 26-year-old outfielder can continue to play for the Rangers while on waivers. If he’s claimed, the team that claims him would have to assume the remainder of his $4.75 million salary for the 2025 season, which would be roughly $3.9 million. If he goes unclaimed, he would have the option to forfeit his remaining salary and elect free agency, or report to Triple-A Round Rock. Taveras has slashed just .241/.259/.342 in 79 at-bats for the Rangers this season with one home run, eight RBI and six stolen bases.
