Marte remains several weeks away from returning from a left hamstring strain that sent him to the injured list last weekend, but he’s already progressed to taking ground balls and swinging in the batting cage. Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo told reporters earlier this week that Marte is unlikely to return until late April or early May, even in a best-case scenario.

Jameson allowed two runs — one earned — over three innings (three appearances) during a brief stint with the Diamondbacks over the past week. The 27-year-old righty heads back to the minors ahead of Tuesday’s series opener against the Mets.

It’s getting a bit silly at this point. Lawlar is one of the top prospects in all of baseball and is slashing .356/.451/.644 in 26 games with five home runs, 26 RBI, 29 runs scored, and 12 steals. He has started playing third base in Triple-A as well, which could create a full-time spot for him in Arizona with Eugenio Suarez moving to DH. Lawlar should be up relatively soon and deserves to be stashed in all league types.

Martinez was able to nail down the save against the Braves, but his four-seamer was down three mph, and his sinker was 2.6 mph slower than his yearly average. He threw 15 of his 26 pitches for strikes, and there’s some real concern that his shoulder is just not right. Even if there isn’t a major injury, it might make sense for Arizona to rest him for a little bit until he’s 100 percent right. That could mean save opportunities for Shelby Miller and also Kevin Ginkel, who is set to come off the IL this week.

Edman came up big for the Dodgers with a two-run single in the bottom of the 10th that turned a 6-5 deficit into a victory. Edman has now driven in 21 runs in 28 games, and that hit sees him slashing .248/.288/.514 on the young campaign. Edman’s average leaves much to be desire, but he’s made up for it with the power and run production.

McLain snapped an 0-for-21 hitless streak with a seventh-inning single and immediately swiped second base for his fourth theft of the season. The 25-year-old speedster has gotten off to an ice-cold start this season, hitting .162 (12-for-74) with four homers and four steals through 20 games. We’re anticipating he’ll turn things around soon simply because he’s way too talented to continue struggling for much longer.

The triple should have been a single, but Alex Call made a flailing dive at it and watched it roll by him. McNeil’s homer was more impressive, traveling a projected 420 feet to right-center. Barring a correction, that’s the farthest he’s hit a ball since 2019. He topped out at 402 feet last year and 400 feet in 2023.
