Angels manager Ron Washington is trying anything to generate a spark as they’ve been outscored 16-5 through the first two games of this three-game series at Target Field. Trout is hitting just .177 through 26 games, but he leads the American League with nine round-trippers during that span. He’s also chipped in a pair of stolen bases, just for good measure.

It was one run through five, but the sixth began with a single, an error and an RBI double, at which point Soriano was lifted. Both inherited runners later came around to score off Brock Burke. Soriano is a big-time talent with his high-90s heat and ability to generate grounders, but in such a bad situation in Anaheim, mixed-league value is going to be tough to come by. He’ll face the Tigers next.

It’s the eighth straight hitless start for Paris, who is 0-for-24 with 14 strikeouts and no walks during the span. He was so good before the slump that he has still has an .823 OPS, which is 168 points better than the Angels’ team mark. Given that the primary alternative at second base is Tim Anderson, it can’t fathomably hurt the team to stick with Paris for now; he’ll likely continue having issues hitting for average, but that power outburst couldn’t have been a complete fluke. Mixed leaguers, on the other hand, can move on.

It’s an encouraging sign that Schanuel hasn’t been put on the injured list yet, but that could still happen prior to first pitch of Sunday’s series finale at Target Field. It’ll be veteran J.D. Davis at first base in his absence. The 23-year-old first baseman has been diagnosed with a contusion after additional imaging didn’t reveal any fractures after fouling a ball off his right knee during Saturday’s showdown. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for the moment.

Ohtani’s steal was the seventh of the season. The three walks bring his season total to 18, and his on-base percentage is a strong .392 over the first 28 games of 2025. Ohtani has now reached at least three times in three consecutive games, but it’s worth noting he hasn’t gone deep since April 16.

O’Hearn’s third-inning blast against Yankees starter Will Warren gave Baltimore a commanding three-run advantage, which they wouldn’t relinquish. The 31-year-old slugger has gone deep five times this season and is hitting .300 (21-for-70) through 21 games.

Rockies general manager Bill Schmidt told reporters Bryant’s visit with orthopedic spine surgeon Dr. Robert Watkins will determine the next steps in his rehabilitation process. The 33-year-old was diagnosed earlier this month with lumbar degenerative disease and will have to manage the ongoing issue for the remainder of his playing career. There is no timetable for his return at the moment.
