Gorman wasn’t even in the Cardinals’ original starting lineup on Tuesday, he was a late addition after Brendan Donovan was scratched due to soreness in his ribs. He made the most of the opportunity though, breaking a 4-4 tie in the eighth inning with his three-run double to right off of Enyel De Los Santos. That would be his lone hit in five at-bats on the evening. For the season, the 24-year-old slugger is now hitting .250/.317/.444 with one home run and seven RBI through his first 41 plate appearances.

After starting the season 4-for-43, Contreras has been on a roll. The month of May has also been kind to him, as he’s gone 12-for-34 (.353) with three home runs and 12 RBI in 10 games. It seems the draft price on him as a catcher who was going to play every day at first base will wind up being worth it in the end.

Mikolas struck out five and walked one, with the only damage of the day being a solo home run to Nate Lowe. Mikolas has a 4.35 ERA on the season and has, surprisingly, allowed three runs or fewer in seven of his eight starts this season. He’s not producing top-end fantasy value, but he’s been solid enough this season to be counted on in deeper formats. He’s firmly on the streaming radar next week against the Royals.

The Cardinals did all of their damage against the Nationals in the second inning on Saturday, brining in all four of their runs in the frame. Nootbaar drove in two on a double off Trevor Williams for his only hit in the game. The 27-year-old outfielder is having a solid season at the plate, slashing .243/.368/.401 with five homers, 25 runs scored, and four steals across 182 plate appearances.

McLean turned in an extremely impressive Triple-A debut with his four-seam, cutter and sweeper mix generated 10 swinging strikes and he recorded an elite 36 percent CSW. The 23-year-old former third-round pick is one of the fastest-rising pitching prospects in the fantasy landscape this season, reaching the doorstep of the majors after posting a 1.37 ERA and 30/12 K/BB ratio across 26 1/3 innings (five starts) to open the year at Double-A Binghamton. The sweeper is a true above-average offering and gives him a real shot at success in the majors. There’s a chance he’s ready to pitch in New York at some point in the second half.
