Nothing has changed in the prognosis for the 24-year-old infielder — who is out for the next six-to-eight weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a left forearm fracture — this was done to free up a spot on the team’s 40-man roster for the addition of Connor Joe on Friday. Callihan sustained his injury as he crashed into the left field wall during Monday’s game against the Braves.

Fraley heads to the shelf for some extra rest and recovery time following a four-game absence due to a lingering calf issue. It doesn’t sound like he’s facing an extended absence, but the Reds can’t really afford to continue playing with a shortened bench. It’ll be veteran Connor Joe, who was acquired on Friday in a trade with the Padres, taking his spot on Cincinnati’s active roster.

Martinez did well to scatter the many, many hits the Astros had against him and not let this game get out of hand. It benefits a right-handed pitcher like Martinez who relies so heavily on his slider and sinker to face this Houston lineup that doesn’t have a single left-handed batter and that may have been a key reason he was able to avoid disaster. His next start is scheduled to come at home against the lowly White Sox.

The 32-year-old has only seen nine at-bats with the Padres this season, going 0-for-9 with six strikeouts. He has been a bit better at Triple-A El Paso, slashing .267/.405/.350 with zero homers, four RBI and four swipes in 74 plate appearances. He’ll give the Reds another versatile option for bench depth.

Keith has batted third against right-handed starters over the last handful of games for Detroit and he’s been productive, hitting .375 (9-for-24) with three homers and seven RBI over his last seven games. The 23-year-old former top prospect struggled mightily in April, but he’s really picked it up since the calendar flipped over to May.

Arias has been red-hot at the plate recently, hitting .375 (9-for-24) over his last seven games. The 25-year-old lacks prototypical middle-of-the-order power, but the Guardians are going to give him a shot hitting ahead of José Ramírez, Carlos Santana and Kyle Manzardo, which is undoubtedly a positive for his fantasy value. He’s eligible at multiple positions — second base, shortstop and third base — and is available in the vast majority of fantasy leagues.

Marte hit his first homer Thursday, and it didn’t take long for him to triple that total. He took Roki Sasaki deep in the first inning, and then homered off Alex Vesia to make it a 10-8 lead for the Diamondbacks in the eighth inning. Now that Marte is healthy from his hamstring injury, there’s zero reason to think he won’t be among the best fantasy infielders in the sport.
