Brown had stranded four runners through three scoreless innings before unraveling in the fourth. The first five batters would reach on a hit batter and four straight singles. A sacrifice fly, base hit, and a double would make it a six-run inning against Brown before he was relieved with two outs. While the 25-year-old right-hander has flashed some upside with strikeout ability, he’s allowing too much traffic on the bases to sustain any success. He’ll end the day with a 6.04 ERA, 1.89 WHIP, and a 31/14 K/BB ratio across 25 1/3 innings. Brown is currently scheduled to make his next start against the Brewers in Milwaukee on Friday.

Busch takes a seat for the first time in Chicago’s last 13 games, dating back to April 9. The 27-year-old first baseman is off to an exceptional start this season at the plate, hitting .295 (26-for-88) with five homers, 16 RBI and two steals through 26 games. It’ll be Justin Turner at the cold corner on Saturday afternoon in his place.

Happ has 16 hits during a nine-game hitting streak that’s raised his average from .208 to .274. Being the major league leader in plate appearances for a strong offensive team has definitely aided his fantasy value in the early going. He’s not off to an outstanding start with his .738 OPS, but he’s ninth in the majors with 21 runs scored and tied for 44th with 14 RBI.

It’s the first bullpen session for Ohtani since he came back from the paternity list. The 30-year-old remains without a timeline for a return to the mound, but he continues to make progress with a great chance to contribute as a hurler over the summer. There’s just no guarantees.
