The hard-hitting 27-year-old backstop victimized Sean Burke for a 409-foot (107.9 mph EV) solo shot in the fourth inning that extended the A’s lead to 5-3. He then tacked on a run-scoring double in the ninth that made it a 10-3 ballgame before coming around to score on a sacrifice fly. He’s off to a nice start in the middle of the A’s lineup, slashing .250/.344/.518 with four homers and 10 RBI.

Gelof has been shut down from swinging for the time being and there is no timetable for his return yet. The 25-year-old second baseman got into three games last week for Triple-A Las Vegas before suffering the injury. He was working his way back from late-March surgery to repair a hamate fracture in his right hand. There should be some clarity on his status in the coming days, but fantasy managers shouldn’t expect him back in the near future.

Mason Miller was unavailable after blowing a save on Saturday night, so the A’s went to Ferguson, who has allowed just one run on seven hits in 16 1/3 innings this season. Ferguson didn’t allow a single baserunner in the effort, but there is absolutely no closer battle here.

Kelly continued his torrid start to the year by taking Giants reliever Hayden Birdsong deep in the sixth inning with a no-doubter to left field, kicking off an eventual five-run explosion in the frame. The 30-year-old journeyman backstop has been an unexpected revelation this season in his Chicago debut, batting an astronomical .361/.500/.820 with eight homers and 23 RBI through 20 games. He won’t sustain this stratospheric level of production forever, but fantasy managers should continue to ride the wave. He’s clearly a mixed-league relevant catcher for fantasy purposes until further notice.

Ramírez had been 1-for-24 since his two-homer game on Apr. 28, which is probably part of why he didn’t start tonight. Especially with the Marlins having Nick Fortes back — he’s caught the last two days — Ramírez is probably not a mixed-league catcher right now, even though he still offers that kind of potential.

Alvarez delivered an RBI single off of Andre Pallante in the third inning that increased the Mets’ early lead to 4-2. That would wind up being the extent of their offense though. He has swung a hot bat when he’s been able to be in the Mets’ lineup this season, slashing .286/.375/.429 with one homer and seven RBI in his first 32 plate appearances.
