This move was expected after both Pablo Lopez (lat) and Zebby Matthews (shoulder) landed on the IL. Woods Richardson should remain in the Twins rotation for at least a month, if not longer, depending on Matthews’ recovery from a shoulder injury. Before a couple of rough starts preceding his demotion, Woods Richardson was having a fine season, and his advanced metrics suggest that he’s been pitching better than his ERA would indicate. He could emerge as a streaming option in favorable matchups for deeper fantasy formats.

Ober gave up four of the six homers the Rangers hit in a 16-3 shellacking. The 29-year-old also issued a whopping six walks, so this could have gone lot worse if you think about it. It’s still an ugly outing, and one that pushes Ober’s record to 4-3 and his ERA up to 4.40. He’ll need to have much better command pitching in Cincinnati next week.

The definition of a lottery ticket, Lugo heads to Minnesota after posting a .265/.327/.430 triple-slash line with four homers and four steals over 44 games this season for High-A Greenville. He’s an intriguing talent, but isn’t one of the more highly-regarded prospects in Boston’s absolutely loaded minor league system.

Buxton did it all from the lead-off spot in this game. His homer – which was scalded at 111.6 mph and traveled and outrageous 479 feet – quickly vaulted the Twins ahead after they’d fallen behind 2-0 early. He never gave the Rangers’ pitchers a moment of peace by reaching base in each of his ensuing plate appearances too. This is some of the most consistent baseball Buxton has played in a long time. Just please stay healthy.
