Buxton did it all from the lead-off spot in this game. His homer – which was scalded at 111.6 mph and traveled and outrageous 479 feet – quickly vaulted the Twins ahead after they’d fallen behind 2-0 early. He never gave the Rangers’ pitchers a moment of peace by reaching base in each of his ensuing plate appearances too. This is some of the most consistent baseball Buxton has played in a long time. Just please stay healthy.

Larnach will take a seat on the bench 1-for-10 in the three-game series against the Rangers. Matt Wallner will be the designated hitter with Willi Castro handling right field, and Brooks Lee will be the second baseman.

Cartaya, who was rated by most as one of the game’s top 20 prospects two years ago, is obviously completely lost right now. After missing most of May, he’s gone 2-for-17 with 11 strikeouts in six games since rejoining the Saints. He’s just 23, and there’s still some hope that things will click. He’s nearly unplayable right now, though.

Ober gave up four of the six homers the Rangers hit in a 16-3 shellacking. The 29-year-old also issued a whopping six walks, so this could have gone lot worse if you think about it. It’s still an ugly outing, and one that pushes Ober’s record to 4-3 and his ERA up to 4.40. Aaron Gleeman recently reported that Ober has been dealing with (in Ober’s words) “some left hip stuff” since spring training. He’ll need to have much better command pitching in Cincinnati next week to be a worthwhile play.

Taveras went unclaimed after hitting the waiver wire, which isn’t a huge surprise considering how badly he’s struggled with both Texas and Seattle along with a (relatively) high salary. Taveras will need to be added back to the 40-man roster to rejoin the Mariners.

Crow-Armstrong got the party started in this one as he crushed a 2-2 fastball above the zone from Andrew Heaney for a 393-foot (103.9 mph EV) two-run shot in the fourth inning that gave the Cubs an early 2-0 lead. He finished the evening 1-for-3 with a strikeout. The 23-year-old outfielder has been one of the best overall players in all of fantasy baseball to this point, slashing a healthy .271/.305/.554 with 18 long balls, 57 RBI and 21 stolen bases.

Meadows capped off a four-run uprising in the fourth inning with a 392-foot (105.5 mph EV) three-run shot off of Orioles’ right-hander Dean Kremer. The 25-year-old outfielder struck out in each of his other two at-bats, finishing the night 1-for-4. He’s off to a slow start at the dish since returning from the injured list, slashing .171/.275/.343 with one homer, three RBI and a pair of stolen bases in his first 40 plate appearances.
