Neto gave the Angels a 1-0 lead with a solo shot to begin the first off Tarik Skubal. It was the last run Los Angeles would score. Neto has been solid since returning from the injured list with a .908 OPS and four homers in just 13 games.

Soriano left his start with a 1-0 lead, but the Angels’ bullpen imploded for nine runs in three innings, including eight in the ninth. It’s still a strong outing for Soriano even without the win that saw him scatter six hits with one walk and five strikeouts. Soriano has been mostly effective in 2025 with a 3.83 ERA, and isn’t a terrible streaming idea for next week against the Blue Jays.

The 24-year-old fireballer played catch twice as he started to build back up, but didn’t feel quite right when doing so, so the Angels will get another opinion to find out exactly what’s going on there. It sounds like the Angels are going to have to make due without him for an extended period of time.

If you’re Adell, getting a breather against reigning American League Cy Young award winner Tarik Skubal isn’t the worst thing that could happen. Kyren Paris will start in his place in center field and bat eighth for the Halos on Friday evening.

Winn has been playing possessed since he came off the injured list last week. This was his third multi-hit game in his last four contests and he has six extra-base hits in his last seven games. Funny enough, he didn’t have a single extra-base hit in his 13 games before heading to the IL. Also, he hit the hardest ball of his season in this game at 109 mph. If this power surge holds, it would dramatically raise Winn’s ceiling as an every day player who’s been moved to the two-hole in the Cardinals’ lineup.

Betts’ sixth inning blast was both the last run the Dodgers would score and the last one they would need as they clung to a 2-1 lead through the late innings and a lengthy rain delay. He turned on a fastball from Grant Holmes and now has eight hits and nine RBI over his last five games. This could be the beginning of a serious hot streak for Betts.

Swanson has really struggled out of the gate this season, so it was nice to see him finally hit the ball well. This was his first three-hit game on the campaign and it raised his batting average by nearly 20 points to finally climb back above the Mendoza Line. He still has plenty of work to do though as one of the more disappointing players in the league to this point.
