Andujar doubled and scored on an RBI knock by Ke’Bryan Hayes during the Reds’ six-run uprising in the third inning. He also singled twice in the contest. He’s having a terrific season at the dish, slashing .322/.356/.476 with 10 homers and 44 RBI over 337 plate appearances between the A’s and Reds.

Andujar smacked a go-ahead RBI single off of Quinn Priester in the sixth inning that put the Reds ahead to stay. He then scored an insurance run on a sacrifice fly by Tyler Stephenson. He has done a nice job at the plate this season, slashing .317/.352/.471 with 10 homers and 44 RBI across 332 plate appearances.

Andujar has settled in as the Reds’ regular cleanup hitter in recent weeks, though he’ll take a seat in this one with right-hander Ryne Nelson toeing the slab for the Diamondbacks. The 30-year-old is quietly hitting .313/.350/.475 with nine homers, 38 RBI and one stolen base in 283 plate appearances between the Athletics and Reds this season.

Andujar’s third homer in four games made the score 8-0 against Jordan Romano in the seventh. It was a 368-foot shot to left that would have been out of 13 out of 30 ballparks. It wouldn’t have been a homer in Andujar’s previous three (or four if we’re counting Oakland and Sacramento) home ballparks as a major leaguer, but hitting in GABP definitely seems to suit him.

Terry Francona seems to have fallen hard for Andujar, who was making a fifth straight start tonight. It’s understandable, given that Andujar has opened his Reds career 8-for-23 with two homers and two doubles. Francona also surely likes that he makes a lot contact. Andujar doesn’t generally have much upside because of his lack of plus power, walks and defense, but defense doesn’t matter at DH and Andujar has a chance to collect a few extra homers in GABP. There might be some fantasy value here in deeper mixed leagues. Austin Hays and Jake Fraley will likely keep losing out if Andujar continues to play regularly.

Andujar smacked a one-out ground-rule double off of Shota Imanaga in the fifth inning and then scored the game’s first run on an RBI single by Spencer Steer. The 30-year-old then singled in the sixth inning and rode home on a three-run blast by Steer in the seventh inning. With his two-hit night, Andujar is now hitting .298/.328/.436 with six long balls, 27 RBI and one stolen base through his first 238 plate appearances.

The Reds didn’t make a big splash at the trade deadline on Thursday, but Andujar is a solid depth addition and will add a quality right-handed bat to the team’s bench. Look for him to split his time between third base and the corner outfield, seeing action primarily against left-handed pitching.

Athletics manager Mark Kotsay told reporters Andujar is probably available off the bench, if needed, but they’re going to give him a break from playing the field. It’ll be Gio Urshela taking over at the hot corner in his absence. He’s presumably day-to-day for now.

No word on the reason for the move and whether it’s injury-related. It’ll be veteran Gio Urshela taking over at the hot corner on Monday night in his absence.

Andujar opened the scoring in the ballgame with an RBI knock off of Tyler Mahle in the opening inning. He also singled in the eighth, but wound up stranded at third base. He has been terrific at the dish this season, slashing a healthy .325/.360/.446 with one homer and 11 RBI — though he has been limited to a short-side platoon role following the addition of Nick Kurtz which saps him of most of his value from a fantasy perspective.

Once again it’s Andujar taking a seat to accommodate Nick Kurtz in the A’s lineup. Unless he can find his way into some action at third base to displace Gio Urshela, it looks like he’ll be relegated to a short-side platoon role with his only starts coming against left-handed pitching. That will sap the 30-year-old of any lingering fantasy value that he had in deeper formats.

It’s the second straight game that Andujar has found himself on the pine, coinciding with the promotion of Nick Kurtz from Triple-A. It looks like he’s going to see the biggest negative impact there in terms of playing time, which is frustrating for fantasy managers who may be relying on him. The 30-year-old has hit .319/.360/.435 with one homer and nine RBI through his first 75 plate appearances on the season.

Andujar has his first homer of the season with a two-run shot off Griffin Canning. He also singled in a run in the second, so he’s up to six RBI over the first 14 games. He’s hit well for the most part with a .310/.356/.405 slash, but it’s nice to see some pop from Andujar. Just keep in mind that the A’s have several young bats in the minors who could usurp the 30-year-old if he struggles.
