Aldegheri gave up two homers, five additional hits, three walks and also hit two batters, so it’s pretty amazing that he allowed just four runs. His ERA actually dropped slightly to 7.90 in two starts and two relief appearances. The 24-year-old will probably open next season in Triple-A, though as much as the Angels hate having pitching prospects at Salt Lake, a return to Double-A is possible.

Aledgheri was making his first start after giving up five earned runs in 4 1/3 innings over two relief appearances. Between the decline in his velocity and his strikeout rate, it’s been a tough year for the 24-year-old, who entered the season as one of the Angels’ top prospects. He’s going to need to show up stronger next spring to be of any use in the majors.

Aldegheri was called up on Thursday but was not needed out of the bullpen, so he will get the start on Tuesday instead. The 24-year-old has spent most of this season at Double-A, pitching to a 3.72 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, and 110/58 K/BB ratio in 128 1/3 innings. We would not recommend using him in fantasy formats.

The 23-year-old southpaw will get another opportunity with the Angels now that José Soriano (forearm) landed on the 15-day injured list. What’s not immediately clear is whether Aldegheri will work out of the Halos’ bullpen or if he’ll fill in the next time Soriano’s spot comes around in the rotation on Tuesday against the Royals. Aldegheri holds a 3.78 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and a 113/60 K/BB ratio over 133 1/3 innings over 24 starts between Double-A Rocket City and Triple-A Salt Lake on the season.

Aldegheri, one of the better pitching prospects in Los Angeles’ system, was hung out to dry in mop-up duty during Tuesday’s blowout loss at the hands of the division-rival Rangers as the Angels continue to be one of the more bewildering organizations in the sport. The 23-year-old southpaw will head back to the minors to continue his development.

Aldegheri made one relief appearance last month for the Angels. The 23-year-old prospect has been summoned to pitch in long relief for Los Angeles as their bullpen depth has taken a hit due to injuries and overuse.

The 23-year-old southpaw was with the Angels for just a couple of days to add a fresh arm to the bullpen and now he’ll head back to Double-A. Aldegheri made one appearance during his time with the Halos, allowing a pair of unearned runs on one hit and one walk while striking out two batters over 2 1/3 innings. He’ll continue to serve as extra bullpen depth in the minors.

Aldegheri made three starts with a 4.85 ERA for the Angels down the stretch last year and had a 4.34 ERA in nine starts for Rocket City this year. He’s one of the Angels’ top pitching prospects, but he’s probably just up to help in middle relief for now.
