Arrighetti had tossed four scoreless innings, stranding two base runners, until running into trouble in the fifth. The Reds got to him for three runs, one earned, on three hits, two walks, and an error. He returned for the sixth and recorded two outs before his day was done at 93 pitches. He struck out five. The 26-year-old right-hander will take a 1.88 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, and a 30/17 K/BB ratio across 28 2/3 innings into a start against the Mariners in Houston on Thursday.

The Red Sox left eight men on base in Arrighetti’s final three innings of work, with Arrighetti getting a big assist from Brice Matthews on a jumping catch at the wall in center. Arrighetti, who has won all four of his starts, lowered his ERA to 1.96 today, even as his WHIP jumped to 1.30. He’s a big flyball pitcher who still walks a few too many, so mixed-league fantasy value might not last. He’s slated to face the Reds next weekend.

Aaron Judge’s homer was the only damage. Arrighetti had just nine whiffs today, which is a pretty modest total for an eight-strikeout game. However, his CSW was 33 percent. He gave up nine hard-hit balls, most of them flies, but the Yankees got just under too many of the pitches and wound up with several 300-foot flyouts. Arrighetti improved to 3-0 with a 2.00 ERA. His control remains subpar, which is a particularly bad quality for a flyball pitcher, but it’s fine to ride him for now. He’ll face the Red Sox next weekend.

Arrighetti was unable to replicate the success he experienced in his season debut against the Rockies last week, but managed to avoid any significant missteps after Houston’s offense staked him to an early lead. He gave up only five hits while striking out three and issuing four walks. He’s handed out four free passes in back-to-back starts, which is going to bite him at some point, but he’s off to a decent start in his return to the Astros rotation. He’ll close out a two-start week with a challenging home outing against the Yankees on Sunday. He’s not a recommended fantasy option in that matchup despite his recent success.

Arrighetti walked four, but he gave up just two hits and induced 20 whiffs against arguably the game’s worst lineup. It’s his fifth career 10-strikeout game. We’re not sure that means much going forward, considering that from here on in, he’ll mostly be facing teams that wouldn’t have Troy Johnston batting cleanup, but he does have another nice matchup coming up against the thrifty Guardians next week.

Arrighetti offers some immediate streaming appeal, even in shallow mixed leagues, when he takes the ball against the Rockies in Daikin Park on Wednesday night. The 26-year-old righty was limited to just seven starts due to injuries last year and has been rather hit-or-miss from a performance standpoint in the majors over the past two seasons. It’s a strong enough matchup that he’s worth embracing the volatility, especially in deeper mixed leagues.

Arrighetti will make his return to Houston’s rotation for his season debut with an extremely favorable matchup against Colorado away from Coors Field. There’s some definite streaming appeal for fantasy purposes, even in shallow mixed leagues.

The official word comes from Astros manager Joe Espada after Arrighetti joined the club on their taxi squad. The 26-year-old righty will get the ball on either Wednesday or Thursday at Daikin Park. It’s a tasty matchup right out of the gate, which gives Arrighetti some streaming appeal in deeper mixed leagues as he replaces an injured Cristian Javier (shoulder) in Houston’s rotation.

The 26-year-old Arrighetti allowed just one hit and one hard-hit ball. He’s likely to join the Astros when they expand their rotation from five to six starters next week.

It’ll likely be a temporary demotion for Arrighetti since Astros manager Joe Espada told reporters he’ll be an option once they expand to a six-man rotation at some point in April. The 26-year-old righty was limited to just seven starts due to injuries last year. He’ll offer some appeal as a streaming option in deeper mixed leagues once he returns to Houston.

The run came on Heriberto Hernández’s homer in Arrighetti’s final inning of work. Arrighetti came into the day having given up five runs in five innings this spring. It looks like it could come down to him and Ryan Weiss for the final spot in Houston’s expected six-man rotation.

He struck out two and walked three, finishing with a poor 22% CSW. Arrighetti, who had a 5.35 ERA in his seven starts for Houston last season, has a chance to crack the Astros’ expected six-man rotation, but he’s given up five runs in five innings so far.

The bulk of the damage done against him came on a three-run blast by Luis García Jr. in the third inning. It wasn’t all bad for Arrighetti though, as he racked up four strikeouts in the outing and made it through without experiencing any lingering elbow issues. His velocity on his fastball checked in at 93.3 mph, which is +0.2 mph from where he sat during the 2025 season. It looks like he has plenty of time to get himself ready before Opening Day, so anticipate Arrighetti having a spot in the Astros’ rotation to begin the season.

Arrighetti shouldn’t have any limitations at the outset of camp after managing to avoid surgery after additional imaging didn’t reveal any UCL damage. The 25-year-old former top prospect was limited to just seven starts this past season due to elbow inflammation and a fractured thumb. He’ll be an interesting late-round lottery ticket in fantasy drafts next spring since he’s a virtual lock to have a spot in Houston’s rotation.

Arrighetti told reporters over the weekend that he isn’t dealing with an UCL damage in his right elbow and believes he’ll avoid surgery. The second opinion seems to be precautionary in nature to confirm his initial diagnosis. There should be a definitive update on his status at some point before the regular season wraps up.

While the 25-year-old hurler will still miss the remainder of the season with inflammation in his right elbow, it’s encouraging that he won’t need to go under the knife. He should be fully recovered and ready to rock for the start of spring training.

This came out of nowhere. Arrighetti was scheduled to take the ball for Friday’s series opener against the Rangers. That’s no longer happening. There’s a strong possibility his season is over given the nature of the injury and the greater concern here is that he’ll wind up missing time next season as well. There should be a definitive update on his status at some point in the coming days.

Arrighetti issued five walks, but they didn’t hurt. The lone run he allowed came on the lone hit he allowed; a Zach Neto homer in the third inning. Arrighetti fanned eight after never striking out more than five in any of his first six starts. Because he left a tie game, he avoided what could have been a sixth straight loss since coming off the IL. His ERA stands at 5.35 as he prepares to face the Rangers next weekend.

The Astros did score one run while Arrighetti was in the game today, an improvement over his previous two starts. Arrighetti was successful despite generating just three misses on 47 swings and 97 pitches. With a 6.52 ERA and a 15/10 K/BB in 19 1/3 innings over four starts since coming off the IL. he hasn’t provided much reason to think he’ll be useful in mixed leagues down the stretch. He’ll face the Angels next weekend.

Arrighetti loaded the bases with none out in the second, but he pitched out of it without any damage, and he was behind just 1-0 on a Wenceel Pérez homer heading into the fifth. However, with one out in that frame, he gave up a double, a walk, a triple, a homer, a walk and a single consecutively. He only got out the inning because a Dillon Dingler liner was caught on a dive by Carlos Correa and turned into an easy double play. Arrighetti has given up 13 earned runs over 13 2/3 innings in his three starts since coming off the injured list. Those hoping he’d offer some mixed league value probably ought to move on.

Arrighetti worked around two walks in the first inning, then walked two more to load the bases in the third. A hit batter and a sacrifice fly put two runs on the board for the Red Sox. Arrighetti tossed two more scoreless frames, giving up just one hit while issuing five walks. The 25-year-old right-hander will look to clean up the walks when he takes on the Tigers in Detroit on Monday.

This was not the return from the injured list Arrighetti envisioned. After his offense spotted him a two-run lead before taking the mound, Arrighetti allowed hits to six of the first seven batters he faced to give that lead right back up. The Marlins pushed another run across in each of the next two frames before being yanked in the fourth with another runner in scoring position. He didn’t have the same feel for his secondaries that made him so successful over the second half of last season and the hope is that he can find that consistency as he makes a few more starts. His next chance to get right will come at home against the Red Sox.

Arrighetti is facing the Marlins today after missing four months with a fractured thumb. His velocity was down about two mph in his last rehab start with Triple-A Sugar Land, so we’d be pretty nervous about using him out of the gate here. However, he might have some extra adrenaline in his first major league start since Apr. 5.

The widely-held expectation was that Arrighetti would start on Tuesday night, but Jason Alexander’s strong outing on Monday evening enables Houston to roll with a bullpen game instead. The 25-year-old righty will be activated from the injured list to start Wednesday’s series finale.

It’ll be Jason Alexander taking the ball on Monday night before the Astros bring Arrighetti back for his first big-league outing since April 5. The 25-year-old has been on the shelf for nearly four months after suffering a fractured right thumb during a freak accident during on-field batting practice.

Espada added that Cristian Javier (elbow) will need at least one additional rehab start before he’s ready to return. The club hasn’t nailed down exactly when Arrightetti will take the ball, but it should be at some point during a three-game series against Miami, which gets underway on Monday.

The 25-year-old right-hander has been shelved since early April after suffering a fractured thumb when he was struck by a ball on the field during batting practice. It couldn’t come at a better time for the Astros as they currently have a pair of vacancies in their rotation that they’re looking to fill. Fantasy managers in deeper league should pounce if Arrighetti is still hanging around on the waiver wire.

Arrighetti looked good in his last start on Saturday and will likely move to Triple-A Sugar Land to make his final start on Thursday or Friday. He will return to Houston after that and join a team in the middle of the pennant race. He should be added in all formats ahead of his return. Brown also noted that Cristian Javier (elbow) will be “shortly after” Arrighetti, so we could be looking at a two-week wait until Javier returns to Houston.

Arrighetti allowed just one baserunner and needed just 43 pitches (29 strikes) to twirl three frames in his latest rehab outing. The 25-year-old righty has been out since early April after suffering a fractured right thumb during a freak accident during on-field batting practice. He’ll need a couple additional rehab outings to continue building up his pitch count and stamina, but should be ready to return at some point in early-to-mid August.

Arrighetti will throw 45-50 pitches in his first rehab start since fracturing his thumb in early April. He’ll likely need to make multiple rehab starts before being a candidate to rejoin the Astros’ rotation in the middle of August.
