No real surprise that Bregman will test the open market again this offseason after wrapping up his Red Sox debut with a .273/.360/.462 slash line with 18 homers and 62 RBI over 114 contests. His 44.4 percent hard hit rate represented the best mark of his entire career. He struggled in the second half after returning from a serious quad injury, batting just .250 with seven homers in 61 games after the All-Star break after hitting .298 and launching 11 round-trippers in 53 first-half contests. The 31-year-old third baseman won’t officially make a decision on his contract until after the upcoming World Series. He’s expected to have plenty of options for a multi-year contract as one of the premier position players on the open market.

Bregman is officially good to go after missing Boston’s final two regular-season contests due to illness. The 31-year-old veteran has more postseason experience than the rest of the Red Sox’ roster combined at this stage of his career. He’s back at the hot corner and batting third on Tuesday night to kick off the postseason at Yankee Stadium.

Bregman hasn’t quite looked the same at the dish since returning from a serious quad injury back in mid-July, batting .250 with seven homers in 61 games since the Midsummer Classic after batting .298 and launching 11 round-trippers in just 53 first-half contests. The Red Sox are clearly hoping that some extended downtime will pay dividends when they kick off the postseason in a couple days.

It appears to be a routine off day for Bregman with Abraham Toro getting a turn at the hot corner. The 31-year-old third baseman has been outstanding of late, batting .302 (32-for-106) with five homers and 17 RBI over his last 30 games.

Bregman has generally been a player who piled up the two-baggers, and even after missing a good portion of the year with his quad injury he’s up to 22 of them in 2025. Those doubles along with a single and a walk now have him slashing .301/.382/.537. Even with the injury, he’s been worth every penny Boston paid to procure his services.

One of the top prospects in Los Angeles’ loaded farm system, Freeland will handle the hot corner on Wednesday night in Cincinnati as Tommy Edman gets a breather to rest his ailing ankle. The 23-year-old infielder figures to get an extended look over the next few weeks with the Dodgers after slashing .253/.377/.421 with 12 homers and 17 steals in 94 games this season for Triple-A Oklahoma City in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League. His combination of fantasy-relevant skills give him some appeal in extremely deep mixed leagues as a temporary stopgap.

Even before the series began, Red Sox manager Alex Cora suggested the team may give Bregman Wednesday off as they continue to manage his return from a quad injury that landed him on the IL earlier in the summer. After losing Monday’s game, it seems like the team backtracked on that and had Bregman in the lineup initially, but he will now take a seat with Abraham Toro starting at third base and Romy Gonzalez playing first base. There is no setback here, and we’d imagine Bregman is available to pinch-hit if the Red Sox need him.

Roberts added that Freeland figures to get some runway at third base while the club continues to manage Tommy Edman’s ongoing ankle issue and Max Muncy (knee) is wrapping up a rehab assignment. The 23-year-old top prospect was officially called up ahead of Tuesday’s contest and figures to get into a couple games later this week. He’s a bit underrated from a fantasy perspective given his all-around skillset, but he’s unlikely to make a significant impact right away.

With three infielders on the IL and another hurting in Tommy Edman, the Dodgers are calling on one of their best prospects in Freeland, who was hitting .253/.377/.421 with 12 homers and 17 steals as a 23-year-old in Triple-A. Primarily a shortstop throughout his career, he’s been used much more at third base this month, and he’ll probably get the chance to make several starts at the position before Max Muncy returns. It’s unlikely that he’ll have any lasting fantasy value in this initial major league stint, but stranger things have happened.

It was the second game in a row in which Bregman hit a go-ahead home run in the fifth inning or later when he crushed a 418-foot shot off of Simeon Woods-Richardson. He has 14 home runs and 44 RBI on the season and has settled in nicely as the two-hitter behind Roman Anthony.

Freeland is one of the more underrated prospects in the fantasy landscape since he doesn’t appear to have a clear path to at-bats within Los Angeles’ ever-expanding Death Star. The 23-year-old shortstop could wind up being moved at this week’s trade deadline, so this certainly feels like a potential audition. He’s batted .253/.377/.421 with 12 homers and 17 steals across 453 plate appearances in 94 games this season for Triple-A Oklahoma City in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League.

Bregman changed the game when he hit a hanging slider from Dustin May over the Green Monster for his 13th home run of the season. He now has 41 RBI with a .298/.374/.545 slash line. He has been a tremendous signing for the Red Sox.

After a few weeks of being red-hot, the Red Sox offense has suddenly gone ice cold. Bregman’s run-scoring double in the third inning drove home their final run of the night and they only recorded one hit from that point on against the Dodgers’ bullpen. A week of poor play coming out of the All-Star break could quickly turn them back into sellers before this week’s trade deadline.

Bregman, who still isn’t 100 percent after returning from a quad injury, was out of the lineup today for the second time in six games since coming off the IL. But he made a huge impact, increasing Boston’s lead from one run to four in the top of the eighth. It was his 12th homer in 243 plate appearances this season, and his second in just seven career at-bats as a pinch-hitter. It was also the first homer Drew Pomeranz has surrendered in 31 appearances this season.

It’s become extremely common in recent years for clubs to give a player a quick break following their return from the injured list, especially if they skipped a minor league rehab assignment. Bregman takes a seat on Saturday after going 1-for-4 with a double on Friday in his return to Boston’s lineup following a six-week absence recovering from a quad strain. He’ll likely be back at the hot corner for Sunday’s first-half finale at Fenway Park. It’ll be Marcelo Mayer taking over at third base in this one.

Bregman made an instant impact for Boston in his first game action in nearly six weeks. The 31-year-old third baseman’s return coincides with an extended hot streak for the Red Sox, who no longer look like potential sellers at the upcoming trade deadline.

As expected, Bregman is back for the weekend series against the Rays after missing six weeks with his quad strain. The third baseman is expected to play in two games this weekend, and Friday will be one of them with Bregman lined up at third base and hitting second. Bregman should be back in fantasy lineups now that he’s back for Boston.

Cora didn’t commit to which two games Bregman would play in, or which day he would be activated from the injured list, but Friday seems the most likely target. The 31-year-old slugger was slashing .299/.385/.553 with 11 homers and 35 RBI through his first 51 games before landing on the injured list in late May with a right quad strain.

Cora’s remarks back up his comments earlier in the day during a local radio interview on WEEI that Bregman was going to make it back before next week’s All-Star break. Bregman isn’t going to play in the All-Star game because of his quad injury, but there’s a chance we see him in a regular season bout before that break. The 31-year-old won’t be rushed back, but assuming there’s no setback, there’s reason to believe he’s back in the lineup (relatively) soon.
