The Rays’ bullpen is in need of some added stability, so they’ll reach out to their division rival and snag Baker, who has a 3.52 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and 49/9 K/BB ratio in 38 1/3 innings this season. No word yet on what the return package is.

Baker now has two saves on the season, and both of them have come this week. Felix Bautista was unavailable after throwing 27 pitches in back-to-back appearances in the two previous games, but it’s nice to know that Baker is the clear second option in Baltimore. The Orioles aren’t going to want to tax Bautista too much in his first year back from injury, so if this team starts to string together some wins, Baker could steal a few saves.

There’s no closer controversy in Baltimore. Baker merely filled in to pick up his first save of the year Sunday after Felix Bautista had pitched the previous two days. Bautista threw on back-to-back days for the first time of the season, showing he’s feeling pretty good in his first season since undergoing Tommy John surgery.
