It was a solo shot for Buxton, his fifth of the season. He’s scored 19 runs but has just seven RBI. He hasn’t attempted a steal yet either after going a perfect 24-for-24 on the bases last season. Health will remain the number one issue for Buxton going forward. When he’s on the field, he should produce.

Buxton just needed the Red Sox to come to town to shake off this slow start. He’s 6-for-10 with three homers the last two days, raising his OPS from .531 to .768. The two-homer game is the 18th of his career. He scored four runs just once other time, that being his lone three-homer game on Aug. 27, 2017 against the Blue Jays.

The 32-year-old outfielder has been struggling at the plate in the early going — hitting .182/.258/.273 with zero homers, one RBI and a 17/5 K/BB ratio in his first 62 plate appearances. Perhaps a day off to clear his head will do him some good. James Outman will start in his place in center field and will bat ninth against Max Scherzer and the Blue Jays on Sunday afternoon in Toronto.

Despite a 50% hard-hit rate, Buxton was 6-for-38 this season coming into the game. He didn’t crush the ball tonight, with just one of his four balls in play topping 80 mph, but he picked good spots to improve to .214/.292/.333 on the young season. Somewhat disappointing is that he’s yet to attempt a steal after going 24-for-24 last year.

It qualifies as the first significant shakeup for Twins skipper Derek Shelton after Buxton hit second in eight of nine contests to open the season. The 32-year-old fantasy stalwart returned to Minnesota’s lineup on Sunday following a one-game absence after being hit by a pitch on the forearm. The move is a slight boost to Buxton’s fantasy appeal since it would likely result in an uptick in stolen base opportunities and runs scored. He’s hitting .133 (4-for-30) with two extra-base hits and one RBI through eight games after putting up a 35-homer, 24-steal effort in 126 games last year.

No surprise here, especially with temperatures in Minnesota hovering around 30 degrees with a chance of snow in the forecast. Buxton will get some extra time off to rest and recover this weekend after being suffering a forearm contusion when he was hit by a pitch during the seventh inning of Friday’s showdown against the Rays. The encouraging news for the Twins, and fantasy managers, is that initial X-rays came back negative for any fractures. The 32-year-old fantasy stalwart is presumably day-to-day heading into Sunday’s series finale. It’ll be James Outman patrolling center field in his absence.

The Kevin Kelly offering hit him near his back elbow. X-rays were negative, though as we saw with Jordan Lawlar, that’s not necessarily everything. James Outman replaced him as a pinch-runner and in center field. He would be his primary replacement if Buxton misses some time.

It was Buxton’s second home run of the spring and was a 403-foot shot off Ranger Suarez. The 32-year-old is coming off a career-best season that saw him play the most games he has since 2017 while hitting 35 home runs and stealing 24 bases. The production was obviously great, but Buxton had not played more than 102 games since 2017 before last year, so he remains a major health risk.

Buxton was removed from Friday’s contest against Brazil after being hit by a pitch in the fifth inning. He’s perfectly fine though and will be back in there for Monday’s critical showdown against Mexico.

Buxton appeared to get hit on the back elbow during the fifth inning. He stayed in to run afterwards and then came out in favor of Pete Crow-Armstrong the following inning. This probably won’t prove to be anything significant.

The game was close initially, with the Rockies actually leading 4-3 after four, but Team USA took over from there. Aaron Judge, Alex Bregman, Will Smith and Paul Goldschmidt also homered for the U.S. Buxton opened the game on the bench in favor of Pete Crow-Armstrong, who went 2-for-3 with two steals, but it seems like he’ll be Mark DeRosa’s primary choice in center field during the tournament.

Buxton’s presence has been assumed for months, but the confirmation took quite a while. He’s set to be joined by Aaron Judge, Corbin Carroll and Pete Crow-Armstrong in the Team USA outfield, so it’ll be interesting to see how that sets up. PCA probably should be in there against righties, with Buxton starting in center against lefties and coming off the bench.

Buxton has mentioned publicly that he wants to remain with the Twins, but that he also wants to play for a contender. Hayes specifically mentions that trading away one or both of Joe Ryan or Pablo López could force Buxton to reconsider his desire to stay in Minnesota. Buxton has a full no-trade clause through next season and then can block trades to five teams in 2027 and 2028. He has three years and $45 million remaining on his current deal, so the Twins, who appear to be cutting costs, could be open to moving him and trying to build around a younger roster.

One of the bigger surprises in the fantasy landscape this season, Buxton managed to stay healthy for a whopping 126 games, his highest single-season total since the 2017 campaign. The 31-year-old center fielder finishes the year with a solid .264/.327/.551 slash line with 97 runs scored, a career-high 35 home runs, 83 RBI and 24 stolen bases in 542 plate appearances.

Buxton opened the scoring with a 386-foot (99.1 mph EV) solo shot off of Ranger Suarez in the top half of the first inning. It’s unfortunate that it happened in a season in which the Twins were never really competitive, but Buxton managed to stay mostly healthy and has had a career year in his age-31 season. With his two-hit attack he’s slashing .264/.327/.551 with career-highs of 35 homers and 83 RBI while also swiping 24 bases in 24 attempts.

Buxton’s solo homer off Tyler Mahle to open the first was his 10th leading off a game this season. He then put the Rangers away with a three-run homer off Chris Martin in the eighth. Buxton is tied for seventh in the AL with 34 homers, and he’s fourth with his .879 OPS in 124 games. He definitely belongs somewhere in the top 10 on AL MVP ballots.

Buxton went deep for the first time since September 10 when he took Rangers ace Jacob deGrom deep for a leadoff homer in this one, snapping an 11-game home run drought. The 32 round-trippers are a new career-high mark for the oft-injured 31-year-old center fielder, who has managed to stay healthy for 123 games so far, his highest single-season total since 2017. He’s also chipped in 24 steals this season, just for good measure.

No surprise here after Buxton’s precautionary exit from Sunday’s game against the Royals after being hit by a pitch on the right knee. The 31-year-old might need a few days off to rest and recover, but it doesn’t appear to be a serious concern.

Ugh. Buxton was lifted from Sunday’s series finale after being hit by a pitch in the fifth inning, just a couple frames after notching his first career 30-home run season when he led off the contest with a round-tripper. The 31-year-old franchise cornerstone has managed to avoid serious injury this season, suiting up for 110 games, his most since the 2017 campaign. He’ll presumably head for X-rays to determine whether he suffered any fractures. There should be an update on his status shortly.

It looks to be nothing more than a routine day of rest for the dynamic 31-year-old outfielder. James Outman will start in his place in center field and bat eighth for the Twins against right-hander Jonathan Cannon and the White Sox on Thursday evening in Minneapolis.

Buxton’s home run was his 29th of the year. He hit a two-run shot off Kyle Hart in the third inning. Buxton has hit home runs in back-to-back games and has four home runs over his last four games. He’s hitting .271 with an .883 OPS and 70 RBI this season.

Buxton plated a run with a fielder’s choice in the third inning that tied the game at 1-1. He then advanced to second on a walk and swiped third base — the first time that he has stolen third base in his big league career. That swipe gave him 20 on the season, allowing Buxton to join the 20/20 club for the first time in his career. Buxton then reached on a fielder’s choice in the fourth inning and swiped second base. He also drove in a run with a two-out RBI single in the fifth inning that extended the Twins’ lead to 7-2. On the season, the 31-year-old outfielder is now hitting .269/.329/.535 with 27 homers, 66 RBI and 21 stolen bases.

Buxton hit a lead-off home run and then went deep again in his following at-bat in the third inning. He only had two homers this month before this game and had struggled to a .559 OPS since returning from rib cage inflammation on August 11th. Here’s to hoping Buxton is ready for another hot streak.

Buxton’s home run was his 25th of the year and his stolen base was the 18th. The 31-year-old hit a solo shot off Chris Paddack in the third inning. Buxton’s home run was his second in seven games since returning from the IL with a rib injury. He’s hitting .280 with an .896 OPS and 61 RBI on the year.

Buxton missed 15 days with rib-cage inflammation. It’s best to activate him immediately in fantasy leagues, but he probably will get more off days than usual down the stretch, what with the Twins simply playing out the string. Carson McCusker was demoted, and Austin Martin and Alan Roden could see less playing time with Buxton back. It’s also possible one of those two could head back to Triple-A once Matt Wallner returns from the paternity list.

Buxton remains out for a second straight game after an MRI over the weekend revealed irritation in his left rib cartilage. The 31-year-old center fielder is expected to avoid an injured list stint for now, but that could change if his condition doesn’t improve in the coming days. He’s put together a potential career year, slashing .282/.343/.561 with 23 homers and 17 steals through 85 games — a true difference-maker in all fantasy formats. It’ll be rookie DaShawn Keirsey Jr. patrolling center field on Monday night in his absence.
