Bassitt allowed eight hits, including two homers, and struck out just three, but eight runs of support proved sufficient to put him in the win column. Bassitt is sporting a 6.75 ERA and a hideous 10/13 K/BB in 21 1/3 innings. He’ll face the Astros next week, but if this keeps up, he’s going to get sent to the pen at some point.

It wasn’t pretty, but Bassitt matched Tanner Bibee for the five innings he was out there and left this game at 0-0. Often lauded for the depth of his repertoire, Bassitt has pared it down this season and did so in an even more pronounced way here practically only throwing his curveball, sinker, and cutter. Combined, those three pitches didn’t allow a single hard-hit ball as Bassitt forced a heap of lazy fly balls all night long. He’s lined up to face the Royals next time out.

This is a bit disappointing because the Orioles scored four runs in the first four innings, but Bassitt simply couldn’t hang in the game long enough to get a win. He threw 64 percent of his pitches for strikes and posted a 25 percent whiff rate while not allowing much hard contact or any extra base hits. However, the singles just started to pile up, and he left the game with two runners on in the fifth and Rafael Devers coming up. He’s still a risky streamer next week against the Guardians.

Woof. Bassitt also issued a pair of walks in the ballgame and did not record a single strikeout. The Pirates got to him for two runs in the opening inning on a two-run blast by Ryan O’Hearn. They added four more in the fourth, with O’Hearn’s two-run double capping off the damage. Bassitt got five whiffs on 62 pitches on the day, posting an uninspiring CSW of 23 percent. He’ll try to pick up the pieces and improve upon his 14.21 ERA and 2.84 WHIP when he takes on the Giants at home on Saturday.

Bassitt was unusually wild in his Orioles debut, but his worst throw came when he tried to retire Brandon Nimmo at home on a comebacker in the first and spiked the ball past Adley Rutschman behind the plate. At least his velocity was good, and instances like this of him of struggling to find the strike zone should be few and far between. He’s just an AL-only guy at this point, but he does have a nice matchup coming up against the Pirates.

Two innings was apparently sufficient for Bassitt to remain on track for his season debut next Monday against the Rangers. He’s in line to start twice next week, with the second outing being a road start in Pittsburgh. That makes him attractive as a streaming option.

It was not as dominant an effort as the line might suggest. Bassitt threw 63 percent of his pitches for strikes, but had just a nine percent whiff rate and 16 percent CSW. He allowed five hard-hit baseballs, but most of his success today came by inducing weak contact as the average exit velocity of balls in play was just 80.2 mph. The veteran was down almost one mph on all of his pitches from his 2025 averages, and it’s just hard to get excited in fantasy baseball about a veteran pitcher who really struggles to miss bats.

At least for the last few years, Bassitt has typically worked 2-3 mph under his usual velocity in spring games, but that wasn’t the case today; his 91.7-mph average on his sinker was almost identical to his 91.6-mph average from 2025. Perhaps it’s a sign that he’s going to have a little more in the tank this year after his velocity dipped one mph from 2024 to 2025. It’s something we’ll keep an eye on.

Bassitt sat around 90 mph with both his sinker and four-seamer, but velocity has never been a huge part of his game, and is not as important for a veteran this early in spring. That being said, he had just one whiff on 15 swings and didn’t record a single strikeout. Bassitt will likely give the Orioles plenty of decent innings this season, but he won’t be of much use outside of the deepest fantasy formats.

Bassitt is not the ace that so many Baltimore fans were hoping the Orioles will add, but the 36-year-old is a solid addition who has made at least 30 starts in each of his last four seasons He’s not an elite bat-misser, but there should be enough quality to suggest he can help fantasy rosters in 2026 more than he’d hurt.

Bassitt missed the final two weeks of the season while dealing with lower back inflammation. The 36-year-old will be a part of the Toronto staff, but it remains to be seen whether he’ll be part of the starting rotation. With José Berríos unavailable due to his elbow inflammation, it’s very possible he could start one of the two games on the road against the Yankees or Red Sox.

Bassitt was bothered by the back issue during Thursday’s loss to the Rays. It sounds like he’ll just miss his final start of the regular season and could be ready to return for the Jays’ divisional round series. Mason Fluharty was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo to take his place on the team’s active roster.

Bassitt gave up eight hits and most of them were deserved, but two bloop singles in a three-batter span in the second hurt badly in the three-run inning. It’s the first time in six starts that he’s been charged with more than two runs, and he still hasn’t given up more than three since July 28. Nevertheless, he’s been stuck on 11 wins for 10 starts now. He’ll face the Red Sox next week.

Bassitt cruised in this one besides for a mini-rally by Samuel Basallo and Jackson Holliday in the third inning. Otherwise, just one other Orioles’ hitter reached base. It felt like Bassitt could’ve pitched all night, but manager John Schneider said he wanted to give him a short start since the bullpen was fully rested and the team has 13 games in 13 days coming up. Nevertheless, Bassitt worked his deep pitch mix and forced a swing-and-miss with six different pitches. He’s scheduled to face the Rays on the road next time out.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. got no outs on a potential double play ball in the second, after which the Yankees scored twice. Bassitt was unusually wild today, walking three and throwing only 44 of 80 pitches for strikes. However, he probably would have stayed in to pitch the sixth if not for a lengthy rain delay. The loss leaves him 11-8 with a 3.97 ERA ahead of a start against the Orioles next week.

After a little bump in the road, Bassitt has allowed exactly two runs while getting 17 or 18 outs in each of his last three starts. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been quite good enough for the Jays, who have lost all three of those games. Bassitt, who wasn’t involved in the decision today, gets the Yankees in the Bronx on Sunday.

Both runs came on Luke Keaschall’s homer in the sixth. Bassitt, who struck out six, left with a 4-2 lead, but it was blown in the ninth. It’s the second win the bullpen has blown for him while he’s gone 0-3 in his last six starts. He’s due to face the Reds next week.

Both runs scored on Tommy Pham’s double in the first. Bassitt has been stuck on 11 wins since beating the Yankees on July 23, taking three losses in five starts since. The 10 strikeouts today, though, matched his season high from an April start against the Braves. He’s due to face the Twins next.

Bassitt held the Dodgers without a run for the first three innings, but he gave up a two-run blast to Max Munch in the fourth, and Shohei Ohtani connected on his 40th homer an inning later. He didn’t miss many bats with just two strikeouts, but all things considered this could have been worse. Bassitt gets back on the bump against the Rangers on Friday, and he’ll take a 4.17 ERA into that outing.

Bassitt coughed up seven hits, including homers to Cedric Mullins and Coby Mayo, in one of his shortest outings of the year. The implosion came at an untimely moment for Toronto as they were forced to burn through five relievers over the final six-plus frames. The 36-year-old veteran, who tossed 7 1/3 frames his last time out against the Yankees last week, will attempt to rebound when he closes out a two-start week on Sunday against the Royals.

Bassitt left this game to a massive ovation from the home crowd after pitching into the eighth inning in a monumentally important rubber game for the Blue Jays against the Yankees. He delivered with his longest start in over a year and was excellent. Without forcing many swings-and-misses, he was spotting his sinker on a dime. It generated 12 called strikes and put him in position to use his array of other pitches to finish batters off. The win gave him 11 on the season – just one off the league lead – and pushed the Blue Jays’ division lead to four games. He’s scheduled for a two-start week coming up against the Orioles and Royals.

The 36-year-old hurler walked one and struck out one in the ballgame. The lone tally against him came on a solo blast off the bat of Josh Rojas in the sixth inning. Bassitt would have likely worked deeper into the game had an extended rain delay put things on pause. He got five swings and misses on 78 pitches on the evening, posting a CSW of 24 percent. He heads into the All-Star break with a 9-4 record, 4.16 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and a 103/29 K/BB ratio over 106 innings through his first 19 starts on the season.

Bassitt labored early in this one, and he risked pitch clock violations several times, making us wonder if something was wrong physically. Bassitt, though, powered through and got better as the evening went along, which was huge for the Jays with the bullpen having worked a whole lot lately. He ended up earning his eighth win, while throwing a season-high 113 pitches. Bassitt will face the White Sox next week.

The Red Sox scored three runs in each of the first three innings. It was bizarre to see Bassitt so seemingly discombobulated. He walked four and hit a batter after never walking more than two previously this season. Besides one he left with an injury in 2021, it’s the shortest start of his career, and it’s just the fourth time he’s allowed eight runs. His ERA climbed from 3.61 to 4.29 today. Assuming that he’s fine physically, he’ll get the Yankees next time out.

The veteran struck out seven and walked one while posting a strong 34 percent whiff rate and 33 percent CSW. He wasn’t sharp with the cutter today, but the rest of his pitches were commanded well in the zone and missed bats. He needed just 82 pitches to cover six innings, and it’s possible the Blue Jays wish they had pushed him longer, given that their bullpen imploded in a loss. Bassitt will be in for a much tougher outing in Boston next week.

The 36-year-old right-hander piled up five strikeouts on the night while issuing just one free pass. After keeping the Diamondbacks’ offense at bay through his first three innings, they scratched out a run in the fourth inning and added another pair in the fifth on run-scoring knocks from Ketel Marte and Josh Naylor. Bassitt got 11 whiffs on 97 pitches on the night, six of those on his cutter, while registering a solid CSW of 31 percent. Now 7-3 on the season, he’ll tote a 3.75 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and an 83/20 K/BB ratio (86 1/3 innings) into Sunday’s premium matchup against the White Sox.
