Brown surely wanted to do better than this with the season on the line, but he would have needed to be flawless with the Astros getting shut out tonight. He falls to 12-9 with a 2.43 ERA that ranks second in the AL. He’s third with 206 strikeouts. There’s still a chance he’ll get to pitch in a Wild Card series next week, but things seem bleak right now.

Brown gave up five hits, walked two and struck out nine. The 27-year-old right-hander hasn’t allowed more than two earned runs in a start since July 20 against the Mariners, a span of 10 starts. He has a 2.30 ERA and 201/55 K/BB in 180 1/3 innings this year. Brown is lined up to face the Athletics on the road next week.

The 27-year-old right-hander only struck out two batters on the evening while issuing one base on balls. He served up a solo homer to Matt Olson in the fourth inning and then exited with two men on and two outs in the seventh inning and his bullpen allowed an inherited runner to score. Brown generated nine swings and misses on 108 pitches on the night, posting an underwhelming CSW of just 22 percent. Now 12-7 on the season, he’ll carry a stellar 2.22 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and a 192/53 K/BB ratio (174 1/3 innings) into Friday’s matchup against the Mariners.

In a matchup of two of the best pitchers in the American League, it was Brown who (relatively easily) outdueled Jacob deGrom to pick up his 11th win of the season. The right-hander walked three, but he was able to work around those free passes and four hits thanks in large part to eight strikeouts. Brown has not been able to pick up many victories as of late, but that’s not his fault, his offense just hasn’t been able give him any support. They gave him plenty even though he didn’t need it Saturday. He’ll be back at it and a must-start in fantasy formats against Atlanta next weekend.

There was no help today for Brown, who fell to 1-3 over his last seven starts in spite of a 1.64 ERA. Brown struck out five and walked three today. Just four of the 16 balls in play against him were hit hard. He’ll face the Rangers next weekend.

Brown worked two clean innings before running into trouble in the third. Two singles, an error, and a two-run homer by Hunter Goodman would put four runs on the board for the Rockies in the frame, all unearned. After a scoreless fourth inning, Brown surrendered two more runs in the fifth. He’d pitch on into the seventh, leaving with two outs and a runner on at 93 pitches with seven strikeouts. The 26-year-old right-hander will look to bounce back when he takes a 2.37 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, and a 177/46 K/BB ratio across 155 2/3 innings into a start against the Angels in Houston on Monday.

The 26-year-old hurler racked up six strikeouts on the evening. His most impressive work came in the fifth inning as Zach McKinstry smacked a leadoff triple into the gap in right center. Brown then bore down and got Dillon Dingler on a bouncer to third, Trey Sweeney on a swinging third strike and Gleyber Torres to fly out to center field to strand him there and maintain a scoreless tie. Brown generated eight swings and misses on 101 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 26 percent. He’ll carry an impressive 2.36 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and a 170/46 K/BB ratio (149 innings) into Tuesday’s matchup against the Rockies.

Brown’s stuff is still a little short of where it was during the first three months of the season, but he’s making it work; since giving up 13 runs over 15 innings in his three starts surrounding the All-Star break, he’s allowed a total of five runs in 24 innings his last four times out. It paid off tonight with his first win since July 2 and second since June 1. He’ll pitch in Detroit next time out.

Brown allowed just one individual base runner and had retired 14 in a row before walking Ryan McMahon to lead off the sixth inning. Then, the wheels fell off as he allowed hits to Austin Wells, Ben Rice, and Aaron Judge before being yanked before he could get through the frame. Brown has completely lost control of his breaking balls lately and that problem remained here. He didn’t throw a single slider – a trend of late – and didn’t force a swing-and-miss with his knuckle curve. He’ll need to rediscover his consistency with those pitches along with his cutter to regain the ace form he showed over most of the season to this point. His next start is scheduled to come at home against the Red Sox.

The Red Sox simply could not do anything against Brown in this one. He allowed just four base runners over the first six innings of this game and it took a walk, stolen base, hit by pitch, sacrifice bunt, and sacrifice fly for them to finally scratch a single run across in the seventh inning. Nevertheless, it was a fastball heavy game for Brown as he didn’t have the best command of his secondary stuff, but it still didn’t matter. His next start is scheduled to come on the road against the Marlins.

It’s hardly all his fault, but Brown is 1-2 in his last nine starts after going 8-3 in his first 12. His stuff is definitely a bit off from where it was a couple of months ago, and while we assume he’ll have some fantasy value the rest of the way, he probably shouldn’t be looked at as a top-10 SP going forward. He’ll make his next start Friday in Boston.

Brown piled up seven strikeouts on the afternoon while issuing a pair of walks. He allowed a two-run single to Jorge Polanco in the third inning and a run-scoring single to Julio Rodriguez in the fourth. The 26-year-old hurler was very inefficient, requiring 89 pitches to get just 12 outs, which cost him a shot at a victory in this one. Brown got 13 whiffs on the day, posting a CSW of 29 percent. He’ll still carry a stellar 2.57 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and a 144/36 K/BB ratio (119 innings) into Friday’s showdown against the Athletics.

Brown gave up five hits, walked two and struck out eight. While the 26-year-old right-hander gave up only five hits, four of them went for extra-bases. Brown has seen his ERA jump from 1.74 to 2.43 over his last three starts. He takes a 137/34 K/BB ratio in 115 innings into the All-Star break.

Brown struck out just three batters in the ballgame while issuing three free passes. The 26-year-old right-hander gave up a two-run homer to Jose Ramirez in the opening inning, then the Guardians piled on with three more in the third inning before Brayan Rocchio slugged a solo homer in the fourth. Brown got 12 swings and misses on 91 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 29 percent. He finishes the first half with an impressive 9-3 record, 2.21 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and a 129/32 K/BB ratio over 110 innings through his first 18 starts.

Brown allowed a two-run homer to Mickey Moniak in the second inning, and that was it. Because of the opponent and because of how good Brown has been in 2025, this almost feels “disappointing,” but that’s much more compliment to him than insult to this outing. He still has a 9-3 record and 1.82 ERA, and he’s been one of the very best starters in 2025; showing this second half in 2024 was no fluke. He’ll look to keep the good run going against the Guardians on Monday.

Brown, the MLB leader with a 1.74 ERA, had no-hit kind of stuff today, but he did give up three singles. Just one of 14 balls in play against him was hit hard, that being a 97.5-mph groundout from Alec Bohm. He finished with 16 whiffs and an excellent 38 percent CSW. Since Bryan King coughed up a one-run lead in the eighth, Brown was left with a no-decision for a fourth straight start. The Astros, though, have prevailed in his last six outings, a stretch in which he’s allowed a total of six runs in 36 1/3 innings. He’ll make his next start in Coors Field against the Rockies next week.

The only damage came on a 345-foot homer from Brooks Lee. It’s Brown’s second career 10-strikeout game; he previous fanned exactly 10 against the A’s on May 26, 2023. It seems like he should have more of those, but he’s fanned nine on six occasions this year. Brown is tied for fifth in the majors with 105 strikeouts in 86 innings. He’ll likely face the Angels next Friday, unless the Astros want to move him up to take on the A’s on Thursday.

Brown was effectively wild against the Guardians on Saturday, issuing a season-high five walks while tying a season-high at nine strikeouts. He held Cleveland off the board through five before giving up a run on two hits and a walk in the sixth. Brown would leave with the bases loaded and one out at 101 pitches -- 57 for strikes. The 26-year-old right-hander will take an outstanding 1.82 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, and a 93/25 K/BB ratio across 79 innings into a start against the Twins in Houston on Saturday.

Brown gave up one hit, walked four and struck out five. The 26-year-old right-hander didn’t get much run support as the Astros scored just one run, but he didn’t need it as he shutout the Rays for six innings. Brown has now allowed just one run in 12 innings over his last two starts after giving up five runs to the Rays on May 21. Brown improved to 8-3 with a 1.83 ERA heading into his next start against the Guardians on the road next weekend.

Brown cruised through three easy frames before Lawrence Butler took him deep for a solo homer to lead off the fourth inning. He tossed two more scoreless frames, stranding the bases loaded in the sixth. Brown collected eight strikeouts with no walks in another dominant performance. The 26-year-old right-hander will take a 2.00 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, and a 79/16 K/BB ratio across 67 2/3 innings into a start against the Rays in Houston on Sunday.

It feels like Brown just keeps getting better and better. His fastball touched 99 mph and his knuckle-curve was devastating against the Reds’ left-handed batters. He did struggle with his command at times though and didn’t work very efficiently. That caused Astros’ manager Joe Espada to pull him with two outs in the fifth inning after a two-out walk. He’d just crossed the 100 pitch threshold, too. It’s frustrating for him to fall one out short of a quality start, but this was still an excellent outing. His next start is scheduled to come against the Rangers.

It’s the first time this year Brown has given up three earned runs, which says a lot about how things are going for him. He struck out nine for a third straight outing, including getting Luis Robert Jr. in three straight at-bats. Brown threw his four-seam fastball 27 times today without it ever being put into play. He’s one of the game’s best pitchers right now, and he’ll put it to the test again next week against the Reds.

That’s not to say that Brown is leaving the Astros, but Rome believes it’s a near certainty that Brown will test the free agent market and try to command a big payday. Something we probably could have pieced together when he changed his agent and hired Scott Boras. According to Rome, “Brown was interested in an extension last spring, but talks with Houston’s front office never materialized into anything substantial.” At the time, Brown had a 4.60 ERA across 176 MLB innings, so it’s understandable that the Astros were uncertain, but they’re probably kicking themselves now.

Brown struck out nine and walked one while posting a 28 percent whiff rate and 32 percent CSW. Interestingly, it wasn’t the curve that led the way for Brown today but his changeup, which produced a 42 percent whiff rate and 42 percent CSW. One of the knocks on Brown has been that he doesn’t have a true “out” pitch, and while that may be true, as long as one pitch in his six-pitch arsenal shows up every game to complement his fastball, he should continue to produce solid results. He should continue to roll next week against the White Sox.

Brown allowed just two hits in the contest with one walk, and he generated 12 swings-and-misses in a sensational effort. Both hits were singles, and he rarely dealt with trouble while firing 96 pitches. The 26-year-old right-hander has not allowed a run in his last three starts, and he has lowered his ERA from 3.00 to 1.16 in the process. Brown is quickly working his way into the fantasy ace conversation. He’ll get the Royals on Sunday.

Brown worked around a pair of walks in a 26-pitch first inning. He then induced ground ball double plays to strand runners in the second and third. Brown had his best inning in the fifth, striking out the side for his first clean frame. He retired all three batters in the next inning to complete six shutout while striking out four. The 26-year-old right-hander has gotten off to an incredible start, posting a 1.50 ERA, 0.83 WHIP, and a 22/5 K/BB ratio across 24 innings. He’ll take on the Blue Jays in Houston on Monday.
