Bauers has made the loss of Andrew Vaughn not much of a loss at all. His three-run homer in the fourth broke a scoreless affair, and it gives him five roundtrippers on the 2026 campaign. The 30-year-old will continue to get playing time as long as Vaughn is out — and maybe even after he comes back — and is worth fantasy consideration for those who need some extra thump in their lineup early on.

Bauers got the Brewers on the board with a bang in the opening inning, crushing a 428-foot (112.4 mph EV) three-run shot off of Jake Irvin that gave the Brewers a 3-2 advantage. That would be the extent of their offense though. With his two-hit attack, the 30-year-old slugger is now slashing .225/.295/.475 with three homers, nine RBI and two stolen bases through his first 44 plate appearances on the season.

Especially after Andrew Vaughn joined Jackson Chourio on the IL, the Brewers really needed for Bauer’s big spring (.462/.571/1.154 in 49 PA) to carry over to the regular season. And it mostly did for a week; he went 6-for-19 with two homers in his first five games. However, he’s 1-for-18 since the calendar flipped to April. Getting to face Nationals pitching for three games this weekend should help.

Bauers bashed a solo homer off Yoendrys Gómez for his second homer of the season, and the steal was also his second. With Andrew Vaughn out with a hamate injury, Bauers is going to get a chance to play more often than not, and he’s not a bad stopgap for those who need a corner-infielder in the short term. Just don’t expect too many more combo meals going forward.

With Jackson Chourio (hand) on the IL, it will be Bauers who gets the first start of the season. The 30-year-old had a tremendous spring, hitting .462/.571/1.154 with seven home runs and three steals in 49 plate appearances. It’s obviously a small sample size, but it’s pretty eye-opening. Bauers figures to start against most right-handed pitchers for the next month, with Blake Perkins starting against lefties. That could give Bauers fantasy value in deeper formats. The rest of the Brewers’ lineup is: Brice Turang 2B, William Contreras C, Christian Yelich DH, Andrew Vaughn 1B, Jake Bauers LF, Sal Frelick RF, David Hamilton 3B, Garrett Mitchell CF, Joey Ortiz SS.

It’s flown completely under the radar, but Bauers has been one of the hottest hitters in baseball this spring, batting .462 (18-for-39) with seven big flies in 15 games. The 30-year-old corner outfielder will open the regular season in a strong-side platoon role, finding at-bats between several spots.

Bauers worked Emmet Sheehan for a two-out walk in the opening inning of this one, but he was left stranded there. He reached on another walk in the third inning and was the back end of a double steal with Luis Rengifo. Bauers then victimized River Ryan in the fifth inning, blasting a 390-foot (105.0 mph EV) solo shot that gave the Brewers a 2-1 lead. He has been having a terrific spring at the plate, slashing .529/.667/1.176 with three homers, nine RBI and three stolen bases in seven Cactus League contests. Don’t be surprised if he sees regular at-bats against right-handed pitching to start the season.

Bauers singled off of Michael Lorenzen in the first inning, stole second base and raced around to score on an RBI single off the bat of Luis Rengifo. After being plunked in the fourth inning, Bauers clobbered a 431-foot (105.1 mph EV) two-run shot off of Davison Palermo in the fifth inning that made it a 10-5 ballgame. With his two-hit attack, he’s now hitting a blistering .545 (6-for-11) with a homer, two RBI and two stolen bases to open the spring.

Bauers is battling Garrett Mitchell and Blake Perkins for playing time against right-handers in the Brewers outfield. Of course, he’d be in pretty good shape there if the battle was mostly about offense, but he’s a mediocre defensive left fielder going up against two plus center fielders. The Brewers can play Jackson Chourio in center if they want, but they’re probably rooting for Mitchell to step up. Bauers’ better path to playing time would be if Andrew Vaughn disappoints, setting up a potential platoon at first base.

Bauers was a candidate to be non-tendered after slashing just .235/.353/.399 with seven homers and 28 RBI in 218 plate appearances during the 2025 season, but the Brewers will bring him back for another year. No word yet on the financial details, but he should get a raise over the $1.35 million that he took home in 2025.

He’ll get a nice raise over the $1.35 million that he took home in 2025. Look for Bauers to once again function in a reserve role for the Brewers where he’ll be deployed almost exclusively against right-handed pitching.

Blake Perkins’ defense in center was missed in the Game 2 defeat, but the Brewers would still rather bet on Bauers’ bat. They’re using the same lineup tonight that they did on Tuesday: Jackson Chourio (RF), Brice Turang (2B), William Contreras (C), Christian Yelich (DH), Andrew Vaughn (1B), Sal Frelick (CF), Caleb Durbin (3B), Bauers (LF) and Joey Ortiz (SS).

Brewers manager Pat Murphy is going to shake things up when they face Dodgers ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto after his club was limited to just one run on two hits by Dodgers starter Blake Snell in Monday’s series opener. Bauers came off the bench to deliver a ground-rule double in the ninth inning against high-leverage reliever Roki Sasaki and will draw his second start of the postseason in this one. Here’s the full lineup: Jackson Chourio (RF), Brice Turang (2B), William Contreras (C), Christian Yelich (DH), Andrew Vaughn (1B), Sal Frelick (CF), Caleb Durbin (3B), Bauers (LF) and Joey Ortiz (SS).

Bauers took Andrew Kittridge deep on an opposite-field blast that got the Brewers to within a run. He had another chance to come up big with the bases loaded, but Brad Keller struck him out on a 97 mph fastball. Bauers could be back in the lineup for Game 4 on Thursday, but it’s just as likely Milwaukee will go with Andrew Vaughn in that contest.

Bauers knocked a base hit in the second inning, then took Mitch Keller deep for a two-run blast to put the Brewers on the board in the fourth before he was lifted for a pinch-hitter in the eighth. The 29-year-old has his six homers with 23 RBI while slashing .205/.324/.363 across 173 plate appearances.

Bauers will take the place of the injured Joey Ortiz (hamstring) on the Brewers’ active roster. Before being sidelined on July 20 with an impingement in his left shoulder, the 29-year-old had been hitting .197/.318/.354 with five homers, 18 RBI and five stolen bases in his first 151 plate appearances on the season.

Bauers, 29, has been on the injured list since July 20 with an impingement in his left shoulder. He’ll likely need at least a handful of games before being an option off the Milwaukee bench near the end of August.

Bauers figures to miss at least a couple weeks. The 29-year-old was passed by Andrew Vaughn on Milwaukee’s depth chart a couple weeks ago when Rhys Hoskins hit the injured list with a left thumb sprain.

Bauers victimized Braves’ starter Grant Holmes for a 434-foot (107.8 mph EV) solo shot in the sixth inning that extended the Brewers’ lead to 3-1. That would be his only hit in four at-bats on the evening which included a pair of strikeouts. The 29-year-old slugger is now slashing .239/.336/.457 with five homers and 18 RBI on the season.

Bauers jumped on a 1-2 curveball from Hayden Wesneski and clobbered a 416-foot (106.2 mph EV) two-run blast in the opening inning that increased the Brewers’ lead to 4-0. It would prove to be the difference in the ballgame. The versatile 29-year-old finished the day 1-for-2 and is now hitting .261/.358/.500 with three homers and 11 RBI on the season.

Bloss will undergo further evaluation and imaging to determine the extent of the issue and won’t make his next start at Triple-A Buffalo. There should be an update on his status at some point in the coming days. The 23-year-old righty made three starts last year for the Astros before being shipped to the Blue Jays last July at the trade deadline as part of the Yusei Kikuchi deal.

Bauers singled in a run in the eighth inning to give the Brewers some breathing room as it made it a 5-1 game. The 29-year-old journeyman has swung the bat at a solid rate over the first fifth of the season with a .787 OPS, but it’s hard to imagine he’s going to get enough playing time — or do enough with the time he gets — to make him a fantasy-relevant player any time soon.
