Bieber has been brought along cautiously after experiencing renewed elbow inflammation over the offseason. He’s going to need several minor league rehab starts before he’s ready to rejoin the Blue Jays’ rotation. If all goes well, expect him to debut before the end of June.

Bieber will face hitters a couple times before he’s ready to head out on a minor league rehab assignment. The 30-year-old starter has been brought along slowly over the last few months after dealing with elbow inflammation over the offseason. There’s a chance he’s ready to make his season debut at some point in June.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said the plan is for Bieber to throw another two-up bullpen this weekend and then face live hitters next week. That would mean that, if everything goes according to plan, Bieber may begin a rehab assignment in the middle of May and could push for a return to the Blue Jays’ rotation in June. There are still a lot of hurdles left to clear.

Bieber still needs to progress to facing hitters in a live setting before he’s cleared for a rehab assignment. The 30-year-old righty was transferred to the 60-day injured list earlier this week in a procedural move that will keep him out until at least late May. At this point, it might be more realistic for fantasy managers to anticipate a return at some point in June since he’ll need several weeks of rehab starts.

This puts Bieber out until the end of May, but that’s already what he was tracking for anyway. He’s been throwing bullpen sessions and is expected to begin facing hitters soon. Bieber has been on the shelf since spring training due to elbow inflammation.

Bieber made it through Saturday’s throwing session without any issues and will repeat the process again this week. The 30-year-old former fantasy ace should progress to facing hitters at some point later this month before embarking on a minor league rehab assignment. He’s unlikely to make his season debut until at least mid-May.

It’s a significant step for Bieber as he continues to work his way back from offseason forearm fatigue that led to a season-opening stint on the injured list with elbow inflammation. The 30-year-old former fantasy ace was a revelation during last year’s postseason and could make a significant fantasy impact this season, but only if he’s healthy. There should be a clearer return timetabe for Bieber once he progresses to facing hitters and is ultimately cleared to head out on a minor league rehab assignment.

Bieber dealt with offseason forearm fatigue that delayed his ramp-up process. He’ll continue his build up in extended spring training before heading out on a minor league rehab assignment. There isn’t a firm return timeline yet and he’ll need a few weeks of rehab outings before he’s ready for his season debut.

For now, Bieber will “will stay on his regular throwing schedule for the next few days,” and then, a week from now, the team will access how he feels. The veteran has been battling forearm tightness since the end of last season. It’s a little concerning that the issue didn’t seem to get fixed over the off-season, which makes Bieber a real risk in fantasy drafts this year given his extensive injury history.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider told reporters Saturday that there are no immediate plans for Bieber to progress to throwing off a mound. The 30-year-old starter appears poised to open the regular season on the injured list and remains without a definitive timetable to make his season debut. It’s challenging to take Bieber with anything more than a speculative late-round selection in fantasy drafts this spring given the massive concerns regarding his workload.

Interviewed on TSN 1050, Jays manager John Schneider today said Bieber could be back on the mound within a week or two. If all goes well from there, his IL stay to open the season should be a short one.

It’s certainly become clear why Bieber stunningly exercised his $16 million player option over the winter. It sounds like Bieber won’t be in the mix for the Opening Day rotation, which means José Berríos is essentially a lock for the rotation. Eric Lauer would be next in line.

If Bieber didn’t think he would pass a physical, that could definitely explain why he surprisingly exercised a $16 million player option to stay with the Blue Jays. Hopefully, it’s not that bad, though. We probably won’t have much better of an idea until he starts tuning up for the Grapefruit League.

Bieber, who exercised his $16 million player option last month to return to Toronto for 2026, made just a handful of starts this past season in his return from Tommy John surgery. The 30-year-old looked sharp in seven regular-season starts and was outstanding in the postseason, but the Blue Jays clearly don’t want him ramping up too quickly in camp. He’ll be a clear top-50 range starting pitcher for fantasy purposes despite some lingering workload concerns.

Bieber’s return is a major boost for Toronto’s rotation, as he’s opted to stay with the Blue Jays for at least another season to rebuild his long-term value before hitting free agency. It’s a massive surprise given how strong he looked in October and how many teams likely would’ve shown interest in a far more lucrative multi-year deal. The 30-year-old former fantasy ace made just seven regular-season starts this year in his return from Tommy John surgery but posted a solid 3.86 ERA over 18 2/3 innings during the postseason. He’ll projects as a top-50 fantasy starter next spring despite some clear durability concerns.

Bieber came through with an impressive effort in a critical spot for the Blue Jays to help them to even the Fall Classic after dropping an 18-inning marathon in Game 3 less than 24 hours earlier. The 30-year-old former Guardians ace wasn’t overpowering, but he managed to settle in after giving up a second-inning sacrifice fly to Enrique Hernández, keeping Los Angeles off the scoreboard into the sixth. He was lifted with one out in the frame after giving up singles to Freddie Freeman and Teoscar Hernández but got some help from reliever Mason Fluharty, who stranded both inherited runners to keep the lead intact. He’s posted a strong 3.57 ERA across 17 2/3 innings over four starts this postseason and figures to be available in relief for the rest of the series, if needed.

Bieber surrendered a run-scoring single to Josh Naylor in the opening frame and a go-ahead homer to Julio Rodríguez in the third. He was lifted in the fourth inning after issuing a two-out walk to Victor Robles. The 30-year-old righty wasn’t as effective as his Game 3 outing earlier in the series, but he played a key role in helping get Toronto to the Fall Classic.

A very impressive effort. It didn’t start that way, as Bieber walked Randy Arozarena to begin the game, and with one out gave up a long homer to Julio Rodríguez and a double to Jorge Polanco. From that point on, the right-hander was excellent, striking out eight and giving up only two more hits before exiting. Bieber was shaky in his start against the Yankees, but this was the version — possibly to a lesser extent — that was so good with Cleveland prior to his injuries. He’ll likely be the starter for Game 7 if the Blue Jays can get there.

Bieber struggled in his first playoff start this season against the Yankees, allowing three runs, two earned, in 2 2/3 innings in a Game 3 loss. In his career, he has a 5.23 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, and 24/7 K/BB ratio in 20 2/3 postseason innings across four starts. The Blue Jays are desperate for him to shake out of that rut and deliver a big performance to keep in the series.

Bieber was staked to an early two-run advantage before taking the mound at Yankee Stadium and received a full touchdown worth of run support by the time he went back out for the third. He gave up three consecutive hits to open the frame and departed after a two-out walk with the lead slashed in half. It wasn’t the extended outing Toronto probably envisioned, but Bieber managed to avoid an all-out disaster and keep the lead intact.

Bieber punched out three batters on the evening while allowing two free passes. All of the damage done against him came via the long ball with Junior Caminero and Jonathan Aranda each belting solo shots in the second inning. The 30-year-old hurler got nine swings and misses on 90 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 26 percent. He concludes the regular season with a solid 4-2 record, 3.57 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and a 37/7 K/BB ratio across 40 1/3 innings in seven starts following his return from Tommy John surgery. He has certainly set himself up for a large payday heading into the open market.

Schneider declined to name a starter for Thursday’s series finale against the Red Sox until after Wednesday’s showdown, but it sounds like José Berríos is a potential option. Bieber will get some extra rest before facing the Rays, who have already been eliminated from playoff contention, with rookie Trey Yesavage being pushed back to Saturday.

The 30-year-old hurler struck out four batters on the evening while issuing only one base on balls. All of the damage done against him came on back-to-back solo homers from Bobby Witt Jr. and Vinnie Pasquantino in the fourth inning. Unfortunately, that was enough to stick him with a loss in this one. Bieber got seven swings and misses on 87 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 23 percent. He now holds a 3.57 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and a 34/5 K/BB ratio over 35 1/3 innings on the season. He’ll make his final start of the regular season on Thursday against the Red Sox.

Bieber struck out four batters on the night while allowing one base on balls. He served up a two-run homer to Carlos Correa in the opening inning, then kept the Astros off the board until Yainer Diaz smacked a two-out RBI double to chase him in the sixth inning. Bieber generated 10 swings and misses on 94 pitches on the night — five on his slider — while registering a CSW of 24 percent. He’ll carry a 4.30 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and a 25/3 K/BB ratio (23 innings) into Sunday’s showdown against the Orioles.

Bieber hit his first speed bump after reeling off a pair of exceptional outings after making his season debut back on August 22. He deserves a ton of credit for shaking off a disastrous second inning where the Reds got to him for five runs in the frame and was able to pick up a win after Toronto’s red-hot lineup supplied him with nearly two touchdowns worth of run support. He struck out six and issued a pair of walks. He’ll face the Astros on Wednesday in his next outing.

Bieber gave up five hits, walked none and struck out six. The 30-year-old right-hander has been excellent in his first two starts since returning from Tommy John surgery. Bieber has a 2.38 ERA and 15/0 K/BB ratio in 11 1/3 innings this year. He’s lined up to face the Reds on the road next week.

The 30-year-old right-hander racked up nine strikeouts in his return from Tommy John surgery and didn’t walk a batter. The only blemish on his night came on a solo blast from Javier Sanoja on the 10th pitch of his at-bat in the second inning. Aside from that, Bieber was in complete command. He generated 15 swings and misses on 87 pitches on the night — seven of those on his slider — while posting a strong CSW of 33 percent. He’ll look to replicate this terrific effort when he takes on the Twins at home on Wednesday.

It’s time. Bieber makes his long-awaited return from last year’s Tommy John surgery on Friday night against the Marlins at loanDepot park. The 30-year-old former fantasy ace gets a tasty matchup right out of the gate and should be rostered in all fantasy formats based on how he looked during his extended minor league rehab assignment. There shouldn’t be a governor on his workload with Toronto chasing a playoff berth over the final five weeks of the season.

It’s official. Bieber will make his long-awaited return from last year’s Tommy John surgery later this week at loanDepot park. The 30-year-old former fantasy ace will be making his first big-league start since April 2, 2024. He’s an intriguing pickup for fantasy purposes, even in shallow mixed leagues, since he’s flashed some strikeout upside in recent rehab outings.
