Call got the start in left field with a left-hander on the mound for the Rockies. He led off the second inning with a solo homer off Austin Gomber, then drove in a second run on a base hit in the third. After knocking a double in the fifth, he singled and scored in the seventh to complete a four-hit day. The 30-year-old outfielder has been limited to a short-side platoon with the Dodgers, going 4-for-23 with the team coming into Tuesday’s contest.

While he’s not much of an asset for fantasy purposes, Call possesses elite plate discipline and is a terrific defender, which makes him a nice real world addition as a reserve outfielder for the Nationals. Expect him to see most of his action against left-handed pitching, though he could also steal at-bats away from Michael Conforto against right-handers if he’s swinging the bat well.

Carrillo has yet to allow a hit or walk in 5 2/3 innings at Triple-A Syracuse while striking out 10 and flashing a 100 mph fastball. He also had a 4.19 ERA with 30 strikeouts in 19 1/3 innings for Double-A Binghamton before being promoted. The 28-year-old revitalized his career in the independent leagues and was signed out of the Venezuelan Winter League by the Mets after not being in professional baseball since 2019. He will be making his MLB debut if he gets into a game with the Mets.

Cobb continues to play catch, but is basically in a holding pattern at the moment as his rehabilitation from a spring training hip issue has stalled out. There’s no timetable for his return at the moment and it seems highly unlikely he’ll make his season debut until sometime in the second half.
