Crim drew a walk to start the second inning and then scored the Rockies’ first run on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Kyle Karros. He then swatted a go-ahead 402-foot (100.9 mph EV) solo shot off of Caden Dana to open the fourth inning, giving the Rockies a 2-1 lead they would never relinquish. He also plated an insurance run with a fielder’s choice in the eighth inning. What a time to hit your first MLB homer. Crim unleashed on a J.P. Sears offering to give Colorado the 3-1 lead and lead the Rockies to their 41st victory. What do you mean it’s September 12? Crim has hit well in the minors, and this is a heck of a park fit for the 28-year-old. Obviously, fantasy managers would be still be wise to take a wait-and-see approach before investing.

Crim was designated for assignment by the Rangers in August, but he’s hitting .278/.365/.512 in Triple-A this season with 19 home runs and 73 RBI in 87 games. With one more home run, he will have his fifth straight 20-home run season. There’s a chance the 28-year-old gets a crack at first base at-bats for the Rockies to end the season.

Crim has gone hitless in 11 at-bats with the Rangers during the season but has slashed a healthy .284/.373/.515 with 18 homers and 73 RBI in 378 plate appearances at Triple-A Round Rock. Power is a difficult tool to find and isn’t usually readily available on the waiver wire, which could lead to some teams looking in Crim’s direction.

He goes into Kevin Pillar’s spot. Crim barely got a look after replacing Jake Burger on the Texas roster earlier this month, and he’s not in today’s lineup against the Blue Jays. This might be a very short stay with Corey Seager expected back from the IL this week.

It looks like Carter’s opportunity is going to come at the expense of Crim’s, even though the team has some underperformers to choose from instead. Crim, meanwhile, has had all of seven plate appearances to show when he can do. He’s earned a longer look.

With Jake Burger getting optioned to Triple-A, Crim will have his first opportunity to show what he can do at the big league level. The 27-year-old had been off to a terrific start at Round Rock, slashing .313/.365/.565 with seven homers and 25 RBI through his first 28 games. He’s expected to see fairly regular action at first base with Burger out of the picture and could wind up being worth a look in deeper mixed leagues.
