Cabrera struck out two in a clean first inning, then surrendered a solo homer to Xander Bogaerts to lead off the second. The Padres added another run in the fourth on a walk and a base hit. Cabrera recorded the first two outs in the sixth, then allowed a third run to score on a hit batter and two singles. That would end his day at 99 pitches, 66 for strikes. He generated an impressive 20 whiffs to strike out seven. The 28-year-old right-hander will take a 3.06 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and a 29/12 K/BB ratio across 35 1/3 innings into a start against the Reds in Chicago on Monday.

Staked to a 7-2 lead, Cabrera pitched the seventh and allowed a homer, a single, and a double before Justin Crwaford reached on an error by Alex Bregman. Cabrera’s fantasy managers are fortunate that it went down like that, as it ultimately saved Cabrera from two earned runs on the ledger. The Phillies appeared to be sitting on Cabrera’s changeup as he allowed four hard-hit balls against it and decreased its usage sharply compared to his normal rates. Cabrera compensated by getting a 50 percent CSW with his curveball. Cabrera should be fired up with confidence against the Padres next week.

Cabrera labored early in the game, and allowed eight hits, but avoided the gopher ball with the wind blowing out at Wrigley and came away with a win. The Mets were all over Cabrera’s fastball, but generated six whiffs on 21 swings against his changeup. His ERA skyrockets to 2.38. Cabrera should continue to be fired up with confidence against the Phillies next week.

He left down two runs, but the Cubs let him off the hook in the ninth. Cabrera walked three and struck out four in a rather unimpressive outing. His fastball averaged 95.0 mph today, down from 96.0 mph in his first two starts and 97.0 in 2025. Last year’s big step forward for Cabrera was the product of a 3.1 K:BB. He has 13 strikeouts and nine walks in 16 2/3 innings this year, putting him at 1.4 K;BB. He’ll face the Mets next week.

Cabrera did issue five walks on the afternoon while striking out four opposing hitters. The lone hit was a very catchable leadoff double to CJ Kayfus in the sixth inning that Michael Conforto got a bad read on in right field. Unfortunately for Cabrera and fantasy managers, the Cubs were unable to scratch out a single run of support for him. He got 10 whiffs on 97 pitches on the day, registering a CSW of 23 percent. He has been brilliant through his first two starts with the Cubs, hurling 11 2/3 shutout innings with a 0.69 WHIP and a 9/6 K/BB ratio. He’ll look to keep the good times rolling when he takes on the Pirates at home on Saturday.

Cabrera was staked to a six-run advantage by the fourth inning of his Cubs debut and had little trouble cruising to an easy win, scattering one hit and one walk over six relatively stress-free frames. Chicago’s big-time offseason trade acquisition generated 15 swinging strikes, topped out at 98.1 mph with his fastball and allowed just two hard-hit balls in this one. He’ll close out a two-start week with a favorable road tilt against the Guardians.

Cabrera’s mostly excellent spring ends on a sour note after coughing up seven hits, including three home runs, on a 91-degree afternoon in the Arizona desert. He struck out three and issued a pair of walks. Fortunately, the results don’t matter here. The 27-year-old will make his Cubs debut this weekend with an extremely favorable home matchup against the Nationals.

The bottom of the first opened right away with a Matt Shaw error, leading to an unearned run. Cabrera sustained no additional damage through the second, but he gave up three runs in a third inning in which he was pulled with two outs and then four more while getting just one out in the fourth. The good news is that Cabrera walked only one. The bad is that his fastball averaged just 95.5 mph, down from 96.6 mph in his first three spring starts and 97.0 mph last year. His sinkers were closer to normal, averaging 96.8 mph, but his changeups were off by 1.8 mph from last year. Hopefully, it’s not a sign that something is wrong with the oft-injured right-hander.

Cabrera gave up nine hard-hit balls today, but only two of those went for hits. He also gave up a couple of soft singles. He’s allowed one run and posted an 8/1 K/BB in 8 1/3 innings over his three outings. One imagines the Dominican Republic would have loved to have him available this weekend.

Cabrera scattered two hits and one walk while finishing with a pair of strikeouts. The 27-year-old righty came over from the Marlins in an offseason trade and should be a borderline top-50 starting pitcher in fantasy drafts this spring.

Cabrera had a 25.07 ERA in four starts last spring before opening the season on the IL with a blister, so things are already off to a better start here. His velocities today were on par with his 2025 numbers, and he allowed just one hard-hit ball to the three batters who made contact.

The Cubs weren’t going to fight it out with their newly acquired right-hander, so he’ll get a $2.5 million raise in his second of four arbitration seasons. Cabrera had a 3.53 ERA in 26 starts for the Marlins last season.

Cabrera, who has three years left before free agency, looked like he turned the corner after making mechanical adjustments last season, though he did miss time down the stretch with another arm issue. The 27-year-old’s 144 2/3 innings (including two rehab starts) were easily a career high in his nine seasons in the Marlins organization. The Cubs are hoping he’s the kind of pitcher who gets healthier with age, but we’ll see. He’d seem to finish off a rotation that will also include Matthew Boyd, Shota Imanaga, Jameson Taillon and Cade Horton, with Justin Steele expected back in June or July. Colin Rea is now due to open up in middle relief, though that was also the case at this time last year (he went on to make 27 starts). Caissie’s departure leaves Moisés Ballesteros as the now obvious Kyle Tucker replacement, with Seiya Suzuki shifting from DH to right field, but it also could make it more likely that they’ll add a bat.

One of the fastest-rising prospects in dynasty leagues, Florentino’s rapid ascent has continued at Low-A following a dominant 29-game run in the Rookie-level Florida Complex League to open the season. The 18-year-old prodigy offers a tantalizing blend of plus raw power, above-average athleticism and decent plate skills — the kind of toolset that screams long-term fantasy relevance. He’s batting .283 with seven homers and 16 steals in 28 games as one of the youngest hitters in the pitcher-friendly Florida State League.

The 27-year-old right-hander scattered three hits and two walks on the impressive afternoon. Both of the walks that he issued came to the final two hitters that he faced before turning the ball over to the bullpen in the sixth inning. That was also the only time the Angels put two runners on base against him in the game. Cabrera piled up 18 swings and misses on 87 pitches on the day — 11 of those on his curveball alone — while registering a terrific CSW of 36 percent. He’ll look to replicate this fine effort as he brings a 4.73 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and a 43/16 K/BB ratio (40 innings) into Saturday’s tilt against the Giants.

All three runs scored on a Miguel Amaya homer to left that Kyle Stowers got his glove on but couldn’t quite catch. Cabrera matched his season high with seven strikeouts and walked only one. He’s issued a total of three walks in his last three starts, which is a pretty stellar run for him. Still, there’s little reason to consider him in fantasy leagues while he’s in such a bad situation in Miami. He’ll face the Angels next.

The Marlins don’t believe that it will require a trip to the injured list, but it doesn’t sound like Cabrera is going to start at any point during their weekend series against the Rays. It’s possible he could jump back into the rotation for next week’s series against the Cubs. Stay tuned.

Andrew Vaughn’s first-inning homer was the only damage. Cabrera’s velocity was down some, and he struck out just two, which would typically be bad sign for him, but he was facing a dreadful lineup that didn’t even have Luis Robert Jr. available tonight. He’ll face the Rays next time out.

Cabrera struck out four and walked one on the day while posting a 17 percent whiff rate and 29 percent CSW. The lack of whiffs is a bit concerning, but Cabrera had a 60 percent zone rate on his sinker, which is nice to see. He only threw his slider 11 times after relying on it as a primary offering when he first came off the IL, so we’re still seeing Cabrera shift around his pitch mix a bit. He failed to command the curve and changeup in the zone, but he got the outs when he needed to and can be used as a streamer against the White Sox next week.

This went exactly how it was supposed to go, with all due respect to Cabrera. The right-hander threw just 57-of-97 pitches for strikes, and gave up runs in four of his five innings he pitched in. That sees his ERA rise to 7.23, while two strikeouts and three walks push his K/BB to 20/11 over four starts and 18 2/3 innings. He’ll try and improve those numbers next weekend against the Athletics.

Cabrera allowed five hits, walked two and struck out seven while regularly pitching in the high-90s tonight. It’s not at all likely that this is the year he harnesses his plus stuff and becomes an above average starter, but there’s always the chance. Right now, he has a 6.14 ERA through three turns. He’ll take on the Dodgers next.

Cabrera gave up a pair of runs in the first and another two runs in the fifth, with another allowed in the third between those shaky innings. The 27-year-old was able to strike out six, but the command was off as seen in three free passes and 56-of-88 pitches landing for strikes. He’ll try and lower his 6.52 ERA in a start against the Reds at home next week.
