Crismatt passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment last week. The 30-year-old journeyman recorded a serviceable 3.71 ERA across 34 innings over eight appearances (five starts) this season for Arizona. He’ll head to the open market in search of a new opportunity at the start of the offseason.

The 30-year-old hurler actually did a decent job for the Diamondbacks, going 3-0 with a 3.71 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and a 25/9 K/BB ratio over 34 innings in eight appearances (five starts). He pitched in a bulk role on Thursday though and was unlikely to be available for the remainder of the season, so it made sense to swap him out for a fresh bullpen arm.

Crismatt entered in the second after opener Jalen Beeks gave up one run in the first. The Diamondbacks never scored, so it was actually Beeks who wound up with the loss today. Still, it’s a tough finish for Crismatt, who came in with a 2.61 ERA in five starts and two relief appearances. He finishes at 3.71 now. He’ll likely lose his roster spot after the season.

The Diamondbacks are moving to a four-man rotation to finish the season as they try and pull off an improbable postseason berth. Zac Gallen, Ryne Nelson, Brandon Pfaadt and Eduardo Rodriguez will get the remainder of the starts for Arizona, and Crismatt will be a multi-inning option in the middle innings.

Jordan Lawlar committed two errors at third in the second, resulting in the runs. Crismatt, who might be pitching his way into Arizona’s 2026 plans, allowed three hits, walked none and struck out four in lowering his ERA to 2.70. He should face the Phillies next weekend.

Crismatt and Anthony DeSclafani essentially piggybacked this game, and neither one was effective. They combined to allow eight runs — four for each — while giving up five homers; three by Crismatt, two by DeSclafani. Long-ish story shorter: bad. Crismatt and DeSclafani likely will pitch in similar roles Sunday against the Twins.

Crismatt tossed two scoreless innings before a triple and a sacrifice fly put the Rangers on the board with a run in the third. Two hits in the fourth brought a second run in to score for Texas. Crismatt would pitch into the seventh, leaving with one out at 82 pitches. He struck out three. It was just the third start of the season for Crismatt. The 30-year-old right-hander holds a 2.14 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, and a 14/6 K/BB ratio across 21 innings. He’s tentatively lined up for a start against the Giants in San Francisco on Monday, though he could be pushed to the bullpen pending the return of Anthony DeSclafani.

The 30-year-old hurler allowed four hits and three walks over his four frames but managed to keep the Reds off the scoreboard. Crismatt punched out four batters on the night. He generated 10 swings and misses on 83 pitches in the ballgame — seven of them on his changeup — while posting an elite CSW of 36 percent. He’ll bring an impressive 1.00 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and a 9/4 K/BB ratio (nine innings) into a tough matchup against the Brewers in Milwaukee on Thursday.

It’s just the second major league start for the 30-year-old Crismatt, who has had a tough time finding a job since posting a 3.39 ERA in 148 2/3 innings for the Padres between 2021 and ’22. He signed with the Diamondbacks eight days ago after amassing a 4.04 ERA in 19 starts for the Phillies’ Triple-A affiliate. The D-backs figure to keep him in the rotation and start him against the Reds next weekend.

Crismatt draws the starting assignment for Sunday’s series finale against the division-rival Rockies at high-octane Coors Field. The well-traveled 30-year-old will be making his first appearance back in the majors since making four relief appearances last year for the eventual World Series champion Dodgers. He’s pitched well as a starter this season at the Triple-A level, but he’s not exactly a viable streaming option for fantasy managers in his Diamondbacks debut.

Crismatt was released by the Phillies on Monday, and the 30-year-old will join Arizona to provide some pitching depth for the final two months of the season. The D-backs will need to add him to the 40-man roster if they deem him worthy of a big-league promotion.

Crismatt returns to the fold with Philadelphia as emergency organizational pitching depth after testing the open market last week for opportunities elsewhere. The 30-year-old righty has compiled a solid 3.81 ERA across 80 1/3 innings (15 starts) this season for Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
