Crow-Armstrong drew a walk in the sixth inning and scored on a double, then took Wandy Peralta deep for a three-run blast to extend the Chicago lead in the seventh. It was just the second home run of the season for the 24-year-old outfielder. He’s slashing .241/.309/.339 with 18 runs scored, 10 RBI, and six steals across 124 plate appearances.

Matt Shaw is getting some run in center field for the Cubbies against LHP Cristopher Sánchez. Crow-Armstrong’s power has been missing for most of April, as he’s hitting .247/.300/.333 with just one homer and five stolen bases in the early season. Worse, the Cubs have hit him eighth or ninth in his last nine starts. Crow-Armstrong had a volatile profile coming into this year and so far he’s hitting the lower end of his outcomes.

Crow-Armstrong delivered a game-tying RBI double in the second inning before adding a run-scoring single in the eighth inning to close the scoring. The 24-year-old center fielder has started to heat up, batting .320 (8-for-25) with two RBI and one steal over his last seven games.

Crow-Armstrong finds himself in the eighth spot on manager Craig Counsell’s lineup card for the fifth consecutive contest. The 24-year-old fantasy standout has gotten off to an ice-cold start at the dish, hitting .227 (17-for-75) with one homer and four RBI in 19 games. He’s been a streaky hitter in the past and the Cubs have a series coming up against the Phillies, who have allowed the third-most runs this season behind only the Nationals and Astros.

Crow-Armstrong took Rays reliever Yoendrys Gómez deep in the seventh inning for his first round-tripper of the season. He also recorded a pair of singles, stole his fourth base of the year, and scored three times in the one-sided affair at Tropicana Field. The 24-year-old fantasy standout hasn’t exactly torn the cover off the ball in the early portion of the year, hitting .256 (11-for-43) with one homer, four RBI and four steals through 11 games.

Crow-Armstrong’s second half slump last year was quite a bit more about his average and lack of power, but the steals suffered, too, as much trouble as he had reaching base; he swiped six bags in his final 54 games after totaling 29 in his first 103. Ideally, he’ll contribute in all three areas this year, but the safest bet is that he’ll be a strong asset in terms of steals; he’s just too good on the basepaths not to push the envelope.

Passan adds that the long-term contract agreement, which ostensibly buys out Crow-Armstrong’s four remaining arbitration-eligible seasons and two additional free agent years, could be worth up to $133 million through performance-based escalators. The 23-year-old center fielder blossomed into a legitimate fantasy star last season, cobbling together a magnificent 31-homer, 35-steal breakthrough campaign. He’ll be at the epicenter of Chicago’s long-term roster build and projects as a perennial early-round selection in fantasy drafts as he approaches his physical prime.

No word yet on the financial terms. Crow-Armstrong made the leap into full-fledged superstardom last season, delivering a 31-homer, 35-steal breakout campaign and emerging as one of the most impactful all-around contributors in the fantasy landscape. The 23-year-old center fielder is firmly entrenched as one of the core building blocks for the Cubs moving forward and projects as a perennial early-round selection in all fantasy formats as he enters his physical prime.

Crow-Armstrong got the nod over Byron Buxton tonight, perhaps in part because Team USA manager Mark DeRosa, as stated on MLB Network, incorrectly believed his team had already locked up a quarterfinals bid. That switch worked out fine, though, as PCA had a three-run homer in the seventh and a solo blast in the ninth. He’s 3-for-10 in the tournament.

Crow-Armstong (center field), Ian Happ (left field) and Nico Hoerner (second base) made it three Gold Glove winners for the Cubs. Also chosen were Logan Webb (pitcher), Patrick Bailey (catcher), Matt Olson (first base), Ke’Bryan Hayes (third base), Masyn Winn (shortstop), Fernando Tatis Jr. (right field) and Javier Sanoja (utilityman). Those seem like all of the right choices for the most part, though we’re once again seeing there’s just no reason for there to be a utilityman Gold Glove handed out every year.

Crow-Armstrong opened the scoring in the ballgame with an RBI single off of Yu Darvish in the second inning, giving the Cubs an early 1-0 lead that they would never relinquish. He also singled in the sixth inning and again in the eighth, though he was cut down attempting to steal second base that time. After a very rough second half of the season, it appears as though Crow-Armstrong may be rejuvenated under the bright lights of the postseason.

PCA had 27 homers and 28 steals through 102 games, making the 30/30 season seemingly assured. However, while he reached 30 steals on Aug. 10, the three homers have been a long time coming; he hit just one in August and today’s was his second in September. He joins Sammy Sosa, who did it twice, to become only the second 30/30 Cub. Crow-Armstrong was hit in the knee by a slider in the seventh inning today and was in some pain, but he remained in anyway, even with the Cubs leading 11-1.

The man they call PCA hit his 29th homer of the season and gave the Cubs a 4-0 lead in the sixth. The steal was the 35th of the season for Crow-Armstrong, and he’s got a pretty good shot at a 30-40 season. Yes, most of that damage came in the first half and there’s real questions about whether he can replicate this in the future, but it’d be foolish to just completely ignore the production of Crow-Armstrong in 2025.

The decision to bump Crow-Armstrong to the bottom of the order has more to do with the presence of Atlanta ace Chris Sale on the mound than anything else. The 23-year-old power/speed combo outfielder tallied two RBI and also swiped a pair of bases during Tuesday’s lopsided win.

Crow-Armstrong opened the scoring in the ballgame with a sacrifice fly off of Spencer Strider in the first inning. He then added on with an RBI single in the third that made it 2-0. The 23-year-old outfielder also drew a walk in the fifth inning and swiped second base, but was left stranded there. Crow-Armstrong then was hit by a pitch in the sixth inning and nabbed second base again before scoring on a bases-loaded walk by Dansby Swanson. On the season, the budding superstar is slashing .253/.294/.492 with 28 homers, 87 RBI and 34 stolen bases across 580 plate appearances.

Crow-Armstrong sat out Sunday’s series finale against Washington after fouling a ball off his right knee earlier in the weekend. The dynamic 23-year-old center fielder has scuffled at the plate in the second half, but is starting to show some encouraging signs after last week’s mental reset.

The Cubs still decided to rest their 23-year-old centerfielder on Sunday, but they were able “to get him moving around today, which is a good sign.” How his knee responds to that movement will determine if he’s back on the field on Monday, but it does seem likely he won’t miss any more time.

The 23-year-old outfielder was pulled from Saturday’s contest against the Nationals after fouling a pitch off of his right knee. Fortunately, it appears as though he was able to avoid any sort of significant injury. He should be considered day-to-day.

The 23-year-old outfielder was pulled from Saturday’s contest against the Nationals after fouling a pitch off of his right knee. Fortunately, it appears as though he was able to avoid any sort of significant injury. He might need some additional time off for the pain and swelling to subside, but a trip to the injured list seems unlikely at this juncture.

Crow-Armstrong fouled a ball off his right knee during the sixth inning of Saturday’s game against the Nationals. The 23-year-old breakout sensation was replaced in center field by Kevin Alcántara. He’ll presumably head for further evaluation and imaging to determine whether he suffered any fractures or structural damage. There should be another update on his status shortly.

In his first action since Monday, Crow-Armstrong picked up two hits and drove in a pair of runs on sacrifice flies. Both hits had exit velocities over 100 mph, so it was excellent to see the talented outfielder make some hard contact. There’s simply no denying that PCA hasn’t come close to matching his success of the first half of 2025, but it’d be foolish to completely write off a 23-year-old who was a leading MVP candidate for a large portion of the year, too.

The Cubs wanted the slumping PCA to work on some things, so he didn’t play Tuesday or Wednesday ahead of the off day Thursday. He hit seventh in his previous start Monday, but he’s been moved up to fourth today with Kyle Tucker sidelined and Ian Happ batting second.

Crow-Armstrong finds himself on the bench for the second straight contest as the Chicago is apparently trying to give him a break to reset mentally. The 23-year-old center fielder is batting just .212 (31-for-146) with three homers and four steals over 41 second-half contests after launching 25 homers in 95 games prior to the Midsummer Classic.

Crow-Armstrong, who was dropped to seventh in the lineup for Monday’s series opener, takes a seat with underwhelming lefty Joey Wentz taking the ball for Atlanta in this one. It’ll be rookie Kevin Alcántara in center field. Michael Busch is also on the bench in favor of veteran Justin Turner. Chicago has the depth to mix-and-match and they appear poised to have both Crow-Armstrong and Busch sit against southpaws down the home stretch.

Against a righty, too. It’s the lowest Crow-Amstrong has batted since May 7, when he hit seventh against a left-hander. The Cubs have him behind Nico Hoerner and Carson Kelly today, and it seems warranted; he’s gone hitless in three straight games, and he finished August at .160/.216/.230 in 112 plate appearances.

Crow-Armstrong knocked a base hit in the first inning and stole second before he was left stranded. He later doubled in the fifth and scored on a base hit by Carson Kelly. The 23-year-old outfielder is hitting .256/.295/.510 with 28 homers, 80 runs scored, 82 RBI, and 31 steals across 537 plate appearances.

With the score tied at 2-2, Crow-Armstrong smacked a homer off the usually effective Kenley Jansen to give the Cubs a 3-2 lead and Crow-Armstrong his 28th homer of 2025. The 23-year-old has been dreadful in August as he came into this contest with a .154 average and .422 OPS for the month, but the talent is obvious, and perhaps this gets him going for the final five weeks of the campaign.

The 23-year-old budding superstar got the Cubs on the board and evened the score at a run apiece with an RBI single off of Braxton Ashcraft in the fourth inning. He was then hit by a pitch in the seventh inning and scored the tying run on a sacrifice fly by Matt Shaw. Crow-Armstrong also led off the ninth inning with a single, but he over-slid second base on a stolen base attempt. On the season, he’s now slashing .259/.297/.523 with 27 homers, 79 RBI and 30 stolen bases.

That 3-for-37 comes with no RBI and no walks, and his OPS has dropped from .868 to .815. It was remarkable just consistent Crow-Armstong was from mid-April through the end of July, especially given his lack of plate discipline, but he’s finally in a legitimate slump now. At least one can probably count on him to keep contributing in homers and steals even if his average continues to dip.

Michael Busch is also getting the night off against Reds lefty Nick Lodolo, which bumps Nico Hoerner into the leadoff spot. It appears to be a routine off day for Crow-Armstrong, who has made 11 consecutive starts in center field since missing a game back on July 21 due to a minor knee issue. It’ll be recently acquired Willi Castro taking over in center field on Monday night at Wrigley Field.
