Cecconi struck out three batters in the abbreviated outing while issuing one base on balls. He kept the Tigers off the board through the first two innings but allowed back-to-back one-out singles to Parker Meadows and Gleyber Torres in the third inning before turning the ball over to the bullpen — and Meadows ultimately scored against the Guardians’ bullpen. The 26-year-old hurler got six whiffs on 47 pitches on the day, posting a CSW of 30 percent. He should have the inside track at a spot in the Guardians’ rotation to open the 2026 campaign.

Cecconi was done in by a bad first inning here. He walked the first batter of the game before a single, double, and two-out, three-run home run. Those would wind up being the only four runs he’d give up, but the damage was done. The 27 pitches he threw in that frame made it difficult for him to pitch deeply in this game and he wasn’t particularly sharp after that either, missing badly with too many of his breaking balls. It was not a great finale after working his way to being a trusted starter in the Guardians’ rotation over the course of the season.

Cecconi’s velocity has been trending up recently, and he averaged 95.2 mph with his fastball and 78.3 mph with his curve today. It’s just the second time he’s averaged 95 mph with the heater this year, and it was easily a new high for the curve, which has averaged 75.3 mph on the season. He’s allowed a total of two runs and six hits over 20 2/3 innings in his last three starts, lowering his ERA from 4.78 to 4.15. In the process, he’s gone from being an adequate stopgap to someone who probably belongs in the Guardians’ 2026 rotation plans. He’ll finish the regular season next week against Texas.

A solo homer from Chase Meidroth was one of the three hits he allowed. Cecconi was roughed up by the Red Sox in his first start this month, but he’s pitched well in four of five outings. Unfortunately, that’s produced just one win for him, and his latest no-decision keeps him 6-6 with a 4.39 ERA. He’ll face the Twins next.

Michael Massey delivered a clean single to start the eighth, only to be immediately erased on a double play afterwards. The shutout was spoiled in the ninth by Zak Kent. It’s the second time in his career that Cecconi has completed eight innings, though he gave up six runs to the Athletics the first time on July 18. He struck out just three and gave up 10 hard-hit balls tonight, so it wasn’t the kind of dominant performance the line suggests. It was pretty much the opposite of last week, when he fanned eight in 5 1/3 innings against the Red Sox but gave up 11 hits and seven runs anyway. Cecconi is now 6-6 with a 4.45 ERA. He’s due to face the White Sox next.

Quite the odd outing. Cecconi fanned eight and walked none, but he gave up 11 hits, two of them homers. He had 15 whiffs while throwing just 82 pitches, but 14 of the 18 balls in play against were hit hard, including the four hardest-hit balls of the game. Cecconi’s ERA is up to 4.78, and he hasn’t won since July 18. He might soon find himself replaced in the rotation by John Means, but as is, he’s due to start Monday against the Royals.

Cecconi showed a little more velocity than usual today, averaging 94.9 mph with his fastball and topping out at 97.5 mph, but he still wound up with just six missed swings and a 25% CSW. Since improving to 5-4 with a 3.84 ERA on July 18, he’s 0-2 with a 5.35 ERA in his last seven starts. It’s possible he’ll finish the season in the pen if the rehabbing John Means is added to the rotation next month.

Cecconi gave up four hits, walked none and struck out three. The 26-year-old gave up two runs with both coming on solo home runs. Cecconi has a 4.41 ERA and 79/26 K/BB ratio in 96 innings this year. He’s lined up to face the Rays at home next week.

Of the 21 balls in play against Cecconi, 13 were hard hit, including Michael Harris II’s 452-foot homer in the fifth. Cecconi also walked two, hit a batter and threw a wild pitch in his worst showing to date for the Guardians. He’s given up 11 earned runs in his last two starts, taking his ERA from 3.72 to 4.50. His rotation spot is probably safe for now, but he could head to the pen for the final month if John Means’ rehab continues to progress. Cecconi is due to face the Rangers next week.

Cecconi managed to get through six frames despite giving up six hits, including a solo homer to rookie Warming Bernabel. He finished with three strikeouts and issued two walks. He’s allowed three earned runs or fewer in nine of his last 10 starts dating back to June 5. He’ll square off against the Mets on Monday in his next start.

Cecconi surrendered five hits, including a game-tying solo homer to Jackson Holliday during his final inning of work. He struck out two and issued a pair of free passes. It was a much-needed bounce-back for the 26-year-old righty after allowing six runs over 8 1/3 innings in his previous outing against the Athletics. With Luis L. Ortiz on administrative leave amid a league investigation, Cecconi should get an extended look over the final two months in Cleveland’s rotation.

Cecconi gave up eight hits, walked none and struck out two. The 26-year-old right-hander is clearly going to get a long look from the Guardians over the rest of the season. This is the second start in a row where Cecconi was allowed to keep pitching and gave up runs late in the game. Cecconi started the ninth inning with an 8-3 lead, but allowed three more runs. He has a 3.84 ERA and 58/18 K/BB ratio in 63 1/3 innings this year. Cecconi is lined up to face the Orioles at home next week.

Cecconi blanked the Astros over seven innings, but he did have a pair of runs charged to him in the eighth; an inning where he wasn’t able to record an out. It was still an outstanding effort for the 26-year-old, and he has allowed no more than two runs in six of his last seven starts. The Guardians have done wonders with this type of profile, and they appear to have worked their magic on Cecconi.

The 26-year-old right-hander punched out five batters on the evening while issuing a pair of walks. All of the damage done against him came via the long ball — as Wenceel Perez launched a solo homer in the third inning and Zach McKinstry belted a go-ahead solo shot in the fourth. Cecconi got seven swings and misses on 105 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 28 percent. He’ll attempt to get back in the win column as he brings a 3.56 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and a 47/16 K/BB ratio (48 innings) into Wednesday’s showdown against the Astros in Houston.

Cecconi gave up five hits, walked two and struck out five. The 26-year-old right-hander was staked to a 6-1 lead after four innings, but couldn’t finish the fifth inning. After retiring the first two batters in the fifth, Cecconi allowed a walk, a double and a two-run single before he was removed with 88 pitches. He wasn’t in line for the win anyway, but the Guardians bullpen gave up the lead in the sixth inning. Cecconi has a 3.64 ERA and 42 strikeouts in 42 innings, but his 4.01 xFIP suggests he’s been just okay. He’s lined up to face the Tigers at home next weekend.

Cecconi gave up a whopping 14 hard-hit balls, but just six were hits and all of those were singles. Two turned into double-play balls. Cecconi helped his cause by starting one of those and also by picking off a runner. It’s definitely encouraging how Cecconi has performed since joining the Cleveland rotation, but today’s outing, which included just three strikeouts, doesn’t really build on that. He’s still a viable option next weekend at home against the Cardinals.

Cecconi allowed a run in the first inning on a walk, hit batter, and a base hit. A walk and a double brought a second run home for the Giants in the third. Cecconi settled in for two more scoreless frames, ending his day with six strikeouts over five solid innings. The 25-year-old right-hander holds a 4.15 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, and a 34/11 K/BB ratio across 30 1/3 innings. He lines up for a start against the Athletics in Sacramento on Sunday.

Cecconi has fanned 16 in his two starts against the Reds since coming up last month, and he has a solid 28/8 K/BB in 25 1/3 innings overall. Tonight’s start was also the first in which he didn’t allow a homer. Still, he dropped to 1-3 with a 4.26 ERA. He’ll probably make his next start next Tuesday against the Giants.

Caldwell has put together an extremely impressive professional debut after being selected 29th overall in the 2024 MLB Draft, slashing .294/.460/.454 with 18 extra-base hits and 13 steals across 216 plate appearances over 48 games for Low-A Visalia. The 18-year-old outfielder has shown an ability to make consistent hard contact with a compact swing and figures to grow into some additional over-the-fence pop. His all-around ability makes him intriguing from a fantasy standpoint where he’s top-75 range prospect for dynasty purposes heading towards midseason updates.

The 25-year-old right-hander issued a pair of walks in the ballgame while punching out three. All of the damage that was done against him came on one mighty swing of the bat from Cody Bellinger in the fourth inning. Unfortunately, the Guardians couldn’t provide Cecconi with a single run of support and he wound up taking the loss. He got seven swings and misses on 73 pitches in the ballgame, posting a CSW of 27 percent. Now 1-2, he’ll attempt to improve upon his 4.87 ERA and 1.43 WHIP when he squares off against the Reds on Tuesday.

Cecconi worked two scoreless innings before serving up back-to-back homers to Yoán Moncada and Taylor Ward in the third. Jo Adell added two runs on a homer in the fourth. Cecconi allowed a single and issued a walk with one out in the fifth. That would be it for the 25-year-old right-hander. One inherited runner would come in to score. Cecconi will take a 5.28 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, and a 17/5 K/BB ratio across 15 1/3 innings into a start against the Astros in Cleveland on Friday.

Cecconi will take the ball later this week after being scratched from Wednesday’s start against the Dodgers with mild groin tightness. The 25-year-old righty holds a solid 3.27 ERA across 11 innings (two starts) since making his season debut back on May 17.

It’ll likely wind up being a bullpen game for Cleveland in his place. The 25-year-old righty is dealing with a relatively minor groin issue following his previous start last Friday against the Tigers and the club doesn’t want to take any chances. It doesn’t sound like a potential injured list situation at the moment. He’ll presumably be ready to take the ball at some point later this week during a three-game series against the Angels.

The 25-year-old right-hander has been sidelined since the end of March due to a left oblique strain. Cecconi has made three minor league rehab starts at Triple-A Columbus, posting a 4.85 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and a 10/2 K/BB ratio over 13 innings of work. Fantasy managers should probably take a wait and see approach rather than trying to stream him against the Reds on Saturday.
