Doyle plays against all lefties but shares center field with Jake McCarthy against right-handers. Thursday’s theft was his seventh of the year. Doyle is base-stealing at a more aggressive clip than in 2024, when he swiped 30 bags. It’ll be hard to replicate that 23/30 campaign without regular playing time, however. His batting line has also failed to live up to the .260 average and .186 ISO he posted that year.

Off to a poor start, Doyle has been just a part-timer lately, starting seven of the Rockies’ last 11 games. Still, his exit velocity numbers are a little better than usual, and while his 36-percent strikeout rate is a big problem, his contact numbers are about the same as when he fanned 25-26 percent of the time the last two years. Especially once the weather heats up and Coors Field becomes a bigger factor, he still has a chance to be pretty interesting in mixed leagues, if he resumes playing regularly.

Doyle opened the scoring in the contest as he crushed a 1-0 sinker from Randy Vásquez for a 408-foot (104.7 mph EV) solo shot in the third inning. He also singled with one out in the fifth inning but never advanced past first base. Doyle also worked a walk in the 10th inning. He struggled in the game’s biggest spot though — with a man on third and one out in the 12th inning — grounding into a fielder’s choice that had the lead run cut down at the plate. The 27-year-old outfielder is off to a very slow start at the plate this season, slashing just .175/.250/.275 while Thursday’s home run was his first RBI on the year.

Doyle will take a seat for the first time this season. Troy Johnston will enter the starting lineup in right field, and Jake McCarthy will switch over to center field. Doyle is hitless in his first 12 plate appearances this season, so perhaps a day off will help him clear his head.

Doyle roped a one-out triple (94.3 mph EV) off of Ben Brown in the top half of the first inning and scored the game’s first run on a ground ball off the bat of Hunter Goodman. The 27-year-old outfielder is having a strong spring at the plate, hitting .400 (8-for-20) with six RBI and one stolen base, though he’s still in search of his first home run.

Doyle led off the fourth inning with a triple off of Drey Jameson and scored the Rockies’ first run on an RBI single off the bat of TJ Rumfield. The 27-year-old outfielder then tied the game at 2-2 with an RBI single in the fifth before once again scoring on an RBI knock from Rumfield. He also drew a walk in the sixth, reaching base in three of his four plate appearances. Doyle is having a terrific spring offensively, hitting .412 (7-for-17) with no homers, six RBI and one stolen base.

Doyle has missed a little over a week since leaving last Wednesday’s game against the Cubs with left wrist inflammation. This is a positive update on it that makes it seem likely it won’t linger into the regular season.

Doyle underwent imaging on his wrist after he was scratched from Wednesday’s game due to inflammation. He’s going to be shut down to rest for a few days before being re-evaluated. The Rockies are obviously going to take every possible precaution here and not push him, so it’s possible that Doyle may not be ready for Opening Day.

There are no results yet, but the fact that the Rockies sprung for imaging could mean that Doyle’s wrist injury is more serious than initially thought. Stay tuned.

The Rockies have said that Doyle’s removal from the lineup was just precautionary, but it’s something to keep an eye on over the next few days.

Doyle was picked off as his one blemish. The 27-year-old regressed hard in 2025 after a breakout 2024 season, but even if he finds middle ground between the two campaigns, there’s a decent chance he’ll be a competent fantasy option in 2026.

Doyle is a Super Two player, so he still has four seasons left before free agency. He’s come up in trade rumors this winter, but the Rockies need to hold on to him as their defensive anchor in center and hope that he bounces back to 2024 levels offensively. If that happens, he’ll have considerably more trade value next winter.

The Rockies might be selling low on Doyle to move him now after a tough season in which he dealt with a family tragedy, but there’s still evidentially a pretty strong market for a 27-year-old who rates as one of the game’s top defensive center fielders and who flashed some legitimate offensive potential in 2024. It’d still might make more sense to keep him; he’s four years away from free agency and the organization doesn’t have anyone else capable of handling center field in Coors.

Doyle was right in the middle of the rally that won the Rockies the game Friday. The 27-year-old outfielder had an RBI single with another run scoring on an error. Then Doyle stole third base and scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly. He’s hitting .237 with a .658 OPS and 56 RBI this year.

It’s been a tale of two halves for Doyle this season as he’s quietly been one of the most consistent hitters in the fantasy landscape since the All-Star break, batting .345 (48-for-139) with seven homers and seven steals over 40 games. He batted just .202 (62-for-307) with seven big flies and nine steals in 82 first-half contests.

Doyle also drew a pair of walks. The outfielder has been a shell of what he was in 2024 with an OPS of .692, but a slash of .345/.371/.655 has been at least a little encouraging for his chances of bouncing back in 2026.

Doyle came into Tuesday’s contest hitting .377 in August. He stayed hot with a two-run blast off Emmet Sheehan in the fourth inning. The 27-year-old outfielder is slashing .238/.285/.381 with 12 homers, 48 runs scored, 44 RBI, and 12 steals across 415 plate appearances.

The 27-year-old outfielder connected on a 382-foot (100.2 mph EV) two-run shot off of Kendall Graveman in the seventh inning that pulled the Rockies to within six runs at 12-6. Doyle has given a few reminders of the breakout campaign of 2025 as of late, and this was his ninth homer of the campaign. Those reminders have been far too few, however, as he’s still slashing .229/.276/.353 over 96 games.

Doyle’s home run was his eighth of the season. He hit a walk-off two-run home run off Dennis Santana in the ninth inning to seal a Rockies victory. The 27-year-old outfielder isn’t coming close to repeating his career-year from last year with a .225 average, .625 OPS and 33 RBI this season.

The Rockies never commented on what led to Doyle’s four-game absence, though the assumption is that he was banged up making an excellent diving catch in his last appearance Tuesday. He has seven hits in his last three appearances, so it shouldn’t have been performance related.

Doyle will sit out his fourth consecutive game on Sunday afternoon. There’s been zero indication that he’s dealing with any sort of physical issue. It’ll be Mickey Moniak in center field in his ongoing absence.

Doyle returns to center field on Monday night in Boston after receiving a three-game mental break to attempt to clear his head and work on adjustments. The 27-year-old outfielder is hitting just .206/.256/.336 with seven homers and nine steals through 76 games this season on the heels of last year’s impressive 23-homer, 30-steal breakthrough campaign.

Doyle will sit out for the fourth time in the last five games as Colorado attempts to give him an extended mental break in an effort to let him clear his head and work on adjustments. The 27-year-old was one of last year’s biggest fantasy breakthrough’s, but he’s struggled this season to re-discover that form at the plate.

It’s the second time in the last three games that Doyle has found himself situated on the bench, both times coming against right-handed pitchers. He has struggled mightily at the dish this season and if he winds up on the short side of a platoon role in center field, any fantasy value that he may have had in deeper leagues falls away. Mickey Moniak will start in his place once again and will bat fifth for the Rockies against White Sox’ right-hander Adrian Houser.
