DeLauter has cooled off considerably over the past few weeks, hitting .163 (7-for-43) with zero homers in 13 games after launching five homers in his first seven games to open the season. The encouraging part here is that he’s walked nine times with only four strikeouts during that span. Some turbulence isn’t unexpected for a hitter getting their first taste of the big leagues, which is why fantasy managers need to stick with DeLauter, even if he’s going to take a seat against a few lefties later this week.

As is often the case, the 24-year-old outfielder will find himself on the bench with an opposing left-hander on the mound. David Fry will start in his place in right field and bat fifth against Trevor Rogers and the Orioles on Sunday.

DeLauter heads to the bench with Angel Martínez getting an opportunity to face Cardinals lefty Matthew Liberatore. It could be a workload situation since he’s started four straight games, including going 2-for-2 with a walk against Atlanta ace Chris Sale on Sunday afternoon. The 24-year-old rookie sensation has cooled off following an unsustainably hot five-homer barrage to open the year, but he’s still hitting .286 (6-for-21) with more walks (five) than strikeouts (three) over his last seven games.

Even with tough left-hander Cole Ragans on the mound, the Guardians will have DeLauter back in the lineup after one day off. He will hit fifth instead of second, but it’s nice to see that he is not in a strict platoon. It does seem like Kyle Manzardo and Bo Baylor are in strict platoons, as both of them will sit yet again with Austin Hedges catching and Rhys Hoskins at first base.

DeLauter had an RBI single in the fifth and a two-run homer in the seventh. That’s five homers in just 27 plate appearances for DeLauter, who left Tuesday’s game with a foot contusion and didn’t play Wednesday. The rest of the Guardians have combined to hit just three in eight games.

DeLauter gave Guardians fans and fantasy managers a scare when he had to leave the game on Tuesday after fouling a ball off his foot. He missed one game but is now back in the lineup.

Guardians manager Stephen Vogt told reporters that DeLauter was scheduled for a day off regardless before suffering a left foot contusion during Tuesday’s game at Dodger Stadium. The encouraging news for Cleveland, and fantasy managers, is that initial X-rays were negative for any fractures. The 24-year-old rookie sensation will be re-evaluated ahead of Friday’s series opener against the Cubs to determine whether additional time off is needed. He should be considered day-to-day for now. It’ll be Angel Martínez taking over in right field on Wednesday night in his absence.

Initial X-rays on DeLauter’s left foot came back negative for any fractures, which is a massive relief for the Guardians and fantasy managers alike after he fouled a ball off it in the first inning Tuesday at Dodger Stadium. The 24-year-old rookie isn’t completely out of the woods, but the initial imaging suggests he avoided a serious injury. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day heading into Wednesday’s series finale in Los Angeles.

Ugh. DeLauter was replaced by CJ Kayfus in right field after fouling a ball off his left foot in the first inning of Tuesday’s game at Dodger Stadium. He stayed in to finish the at-bat against Shohei Ohtani but was unable to run out a grounder before exiting. The 24-year-old rookie sensation was off to an unbelievable start this season, homering four times in five games to open the year. He’ll undergo X-rays to determine whether he suffered any fractures. It’s a concerning development given his history of foot injuries earlier in his career. There should be additional updates on his status shortly.

Goodness gracious. DeLauter was struggling throughout this game; going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts before the tenth. Then he hit his fourth homer in the first three games of 2026, and it came on a 97 mph fastball on the outer-part of the plate from Andrés Muñoz for a two-run shot. There’s regression coming if only because baseball is too hard for a player to be this good, but it’s impossible to not be impressed — and intrigued — by these first three contests.

After crushing a pair of home runs in his first regular season game on Thursday, DeLauter continued the power binge on Friday night, smacking the second pitch that he saw from George Kirby for a 360-foot (99.4 mph EV) solo shot in the first inning. That would wind up being the Guardians’ lone tally in the contest. DeLauter finished the evening 1-for-4 and is off to a blistering .444 (4-for-9) start to his big league career with three home runs and three RBI.

DeLauter, who got into two postseason games last October, got the Guardians on the board with a 353-foot homer in the first and then added some insurance with a one-run lead with a 422-foot blast in the ninth. He also had a single and another run scored in between. DeLauter’s struggles staying healthy as a minor leaguer don’t bode well, but there’s no questioning the former first-rounder’s talent. He’d seem to be worth using in mixed leagues for now.

Putting a little exclamation point on his spring, DeLauter is now up to .459/.535/.838 in 43 plate appearances. He’s probably about as weak of a bet to remain healthy as any position player in the league, but from a performance standpoint, he’s looking like a strong Rookie of the Year candidate.

The 24-year-old DeLauter is sitting at .429/.500/.657 with a 4/5 K/BB in 40 plate appearances. He’s made eight of his nine starts in the field in right, so it looks like that’ll be his primary spot in the regular season. He’ll probably wind up seeing a fair amount of time against lefties, given the makeup of the rest of the Guardians’ roster. It would have made sense for the Guardians to keep Stuart Fairchild to supplement him versus southpaws, but another lefty, CJ Kayfus, seems poised to get that spot.

DeLauter is off to a blistering start this spring, batting .538 through his first four games. It’s an extremely small sample, of course, but the underlying takeaway is that the 24-year-old top prospect looks healthy after missing time earlier in camp with a lower-body issue. If that holds, he’s firmly on track to break camp with Cleveland and secure everyday at-bats. The hit tool has never really been the question — and players with that combination of bat-to-ball skill and emerging power tend to force their way into fantasy relevance quickly once the opportunity arrives.

DeLauter was returning to the lineup after five days off due to lower body soreness. His two balls in play today left the bat at 106 and 99 mph. DeLauter should have a great chance of making the Guardians with a productive spring. Only Steven Kwan is currently promised a place in Cleveland’s outfield.

DeLauter was scratched from Wednesday’s game due to lower body soreness, but thankfully it appears to have been only a minor issue. The 24-year-old top prospect will serve as the designated hitter on Sunday and will return to the outfield at some point early in the week.

DeLauter was scratched from a Cactus League contest earlier this week with lower body soreness. The 24-year-old top prospect doesn’t appear to be dealing with anything serious that would jeopardize his chances of making Cleveland’s season-opening roster.

It’s reportedly simply soreness from “heavy on-field activity to open camp,” but given DeLauter’s long history of injuries, this at least has us taking note. We’ll update when we hear if there is any concern that he could miss more than a day or so.

DeLauter is vying for a spot on Cleveland’s season-opening roster as the club’s starting center fielder after making his big-league debut during last year’s postseason. The 24-year-old top prospect has struggled to stay healthy the last few seasons, mostly due to lingering foot issues, but he hasn’t dealt with any physical issues this spring and is off to a nice start at the dish. He offers enough consistent hard contact and quality plate skills to envision an immediate fantasy impact but he’s more of a late-round lottery ticket for fantasy purposes.

Not only is he starting, but he’s moving up from seventh to fifth in swapping spots with Bo Naylor. It’s the only change in the Guardians lineup from Wednesday’s victory.

DeLauter was making his MLB debut in as big a moment as one can have, and it didn’t get off to a good start. On his first chance in center, he dropped a flyball that certainly had some movement due to wind, but still was an obvious error. He drew a walk in his first plate appearance, however, and he made a huge throw to get Zack McKinstry out at third to prevent another run from scoring and kept the game 1-1. DeLauter will likely be back in the lineup against righties for as long as the Guardians are able to keep playing.

DeLauter’s major-league debut couldn’t come in a bigger spot with the Guardians facing elimination. The 23-year-old top prospect becomes just the sixth player ever to debut in the postseason. He’s talented enough from an offensive upside standpoint to provide an immediate spark for a Cleveland lineup that owns the lowest team batting average of any team in the playoffs. “He can hit -- everywhere he’s ever been, he’s hit,” said Guardians manager Stephen Vogt. “We’re looking for offense. We have been all year. And this gives us a really good opportunity to have an impact bat.”
