With Nolan Schanuel (wrist) returning from the injured list on Friday someone had to get the boot to clear a spot on the active roster and Davidson was the odd man out this time around. The 27-year-old has hit .167 (7-for-42) with one homer, four RBI and a 22/3 K/BB ratio in 47 plate appearances between the Angels and Athletics.

It took 15 games and many years in the minors, but Davidson finally has his first MLB homer. He scorched it, too, as it traveled over 422 feet on a pitch from Bryce Miller in the third inning. Davidson is basically auditioning to be a utility man going forward. More homers couldn’t hurt.

Davidson was removed from the 40-man roster by the Astros, and now the former first-round pick has a new home. He could see time with the Angels before the end of the year, but time is obviously running out.

The Astros needed to free up a spot on their 40-man roster for the return of Logan Davidson on Monday and unfortunately Davidson drew the short straw this time around. The 27-year-old slugger has spent most of the season at the Triple-A level where he has slashed .250/.385/.395 with 10 homers and 51 RBI. He could pique another team’s interest on waivers.

Davidson was waived by the Athletics on Wednesday, and the former first-round pick has a new home two days later. He’s on the 40-man roster, so he could be an option as a bench player for Houston before the end of 2025.

Davidson struck out in his lone plate appearance in his big league debut on Saturday. He then got his first hit out of the way in the first inning on Sunday, smacking a two-run double off of Jesús Luzardo that increased the A’s early advantage to 3-0. Davidson also singled in the third inning and worked a walk in the eighth. He started at first base with Nick Kurtz (hip) sidelined on Sunday and could see increased action there in the coming days.
