The 23-year-old rookie southpaw punched out six batters on the night while allowing just one base on balls. He cruised through the first three innings, allowing just two hits and striking out five. Everything changed as the Red Sox let a routine fly ball drop in for a bloop double to open the fourth. Giancarlo Stanton followed with a walk and then after a strikeout of Ben Rice the Yankees had three straight singles before Jazz Chisholm Jr. reached on an error as the inning spiraled out of control. Even with the rough outing to finish the season, there’s plenty to like about Early heading into the 2026 season and he should be in good position to land a spot in the Red Sox’ Opening Day rotation.

The 23-year-old southpaw punched out seven batters on the day while allowing just one base on balls. With two outs in the fifth, Javier Baez singled, Parker Meadows walked and Jahmai Jones delivered a two-run single to give the Tigers the lead. Early got 10 swings and misses on 86 pitches on the day, registering a CSW of 22 percent. He finishes his 2025 regular season with a 2.33 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and a 29/4 K/BB ratio across 19 1/3 innings in his first four MLB starts.

The rookie left-hander punched out four batters on the night while issuing a pair of free passes. All of the damage done against him came in the opening inning as Christopher Morel delivered a two-run double and Nick Fortes plated a run with a fielder’s choice. Early got 13 swings and misses on 67 pitches on the evening — five on his fastball which averaged 93.4 mph — while posting a CSW of 28 percent. He now holds a 1.88 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and a sparkling 22/3 K/BB ratio over 14 1/3 innings in his first three starts. He’ll take on the Tigers in his final start of the regular season at Fenway Park on Saturday.

Early earns another turn in the rotation after throwing 5 1/3 innings of one-run baseball with seven strikeouts against the A’s on Tuesday. It’s not a surprise given the Red Sox lack of options behind Early and how well he pitched, but he’ll be worthy of streaming consideration for that showdown against Tampa Bay.

Early was pulled with a 1-0 lead, one on and one out in the sixth, only to watch Greg Weissert blow the lead and then give up a run of his own on his way to a loss. Early walked none, and all five hits he allowed were singles. His turn in the rotation comes up again Sunday against the Rays, but it remains to be seen if the Red Sox will let him pitch on four days’ rest. He went a full week between starts this time around.

Fellow top pitching prospect Payton Tolle will have his next start pushed back a couple days as the Red Sox prioritize innings from their big three veteran starters Garrett Crochet, Lucas Giolito and Brayan Bello down the home stretch. Early was extremely impressive in his big-league debut last week when he struck out 11 over five shutout frames against the Athletics. He’s worthy of a speculative pickup in all fantasy formats.

Cora added that they want to keep veterans Garrett Crochet, Lucas Giolito and Brayan Bello on their usual schedule, which theoretically lines up Early to start next Thursday in a rematch with the Athletics. The 23-year-old southpaw has earned another turn in Boston’s rotation after putting together a dominant performance on Tuesday night in his major-league debut, striking out 11 over five shutout innings in Sacramento. He’s worthy of a speculative pickup in all fantasy leagues.
