Enns had a $3 million club option for next season that the new agreement ostensibly replaces. The 34-year-old southpaw reliever posted a serviceable 4.08 ERA with a 49/15 K/BB ratio over 46 1/3 innings in 24 appearances split between the Tigers and Orioles this past season.

No word yet on the exact financial terms, but Enns had a $3 million option for next season that the new agreement replaces. The 34-year-old southpaw reliever posted a serviceable 4.08 ERA with a 49/15 K/BB ratio over 46 1/3 innings in 24 appearances split between the Tigers and Orioles this past season.

Enns gets the rare three-inning save, and it’s even rarer when it comes in a game that woulda been a save situation even before that previous stipulation. The 34-year-old is a valuable multi-inning option for the Orioles, but isn’t likely to get many more save chances to finish the year. It’d be a pretty safe bet this was the last one.

Working with a three-run lead, Enns gave up two singles and a one-out walk before getting a pair of groundouts to end the game. It’s his third major league save; he had a three-inning save and a one-out save for the Rays in Sept. 2021 before heading to Japan in 2022. Enns has allowed two runs and struck out 12 in 6 1/3 innings since being DFA’d by the Tigers and picked up by the Orioles at the trade deadline. He seems best utilized as more of a long man, but since no one else is stepping up in the Orioles pen, it’s possible he’ll get more chances in the ninth.

The 34-year-old southpaw had been designated for assignment earlier in the day on Thursday, but the Orioles were happy to pounce and acquire an arm that can step right into their bullpen or rotation. Enns posted a 5.60 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and a 15/4 K/BB ratio over 17 2/3 innings in seven appearances (two starts) for the Tigers this season.

Enns will not longer be taking the ball on Monday against the Rays. The 34-year-old southpaw was torched for eight runs — seven earned — over four innings on Thursday in a loss to the Nationals. He’ll pitch in relief moving forward and can be safely ignored in most fantasy formats.

Yikes. The 34-year-old southpaw also walked a pair of batters in the ballgame while striking out three. The Tigers staked him to an early three-run advantage before he took the mound, but he immediately gave that back and then some by spotting the Nationals five runs in the first inning — the final three on an opposite-field blast off the bat of Paul DeJong. Enns also served up a solo homer to James Wood in the second inning. He got nine swings and misses on 83 pitches on the day, registering a CSW of 28 percent. It wouldn’t be terribly surprising to see Enns get optioned back to Triple-A Toledo after this disastrous performance.

Baseball is weird. This is the first win for Enns in the majors since September 16, 2021. The 34-year-old allowed two walks and four strikeouts, and while he was far from dominant, it was a solid effort even when you consider the low expectations. There’s no guarantee that Enns makes more starts for Detroit, but he just might have earned another chance to pitch based on this effort. Good for you, Dietrich Enns.

Enns has a 2.89 ERA and a 71/15 K/BB in 62 1/3 innings at Triple-A Toledo this year. He will likely serve as a bulk reliever, which could be a role that earns some wins on a good Tigers team.

He’ll presumably start that day against the A’s. Enns, who pitched in Japan and Korea from 2022-24, has a 2.89 ERA and a 71/15 K/BB in 62 1/3 innings for Triple-A Toledo this season. The 34-year-old left-hander is out of options, so he might get a chance to stick as a middle reliever or maybe as a replacement for Sawyer Gipson-Long with Reese Olson on the way back next week.
