    Recap

Dietrich Enns worked the final three innings to pick up a save Monday against the White Sox.

Enns gets the rare three-inning save, and it’s even rarer when it comes in a game that woulda been a save situation even before that previous stipulation. The 34-year-old is a valuable multi-inning option for the Orioles, but isn’t likely to get many more save chances to finish the year. It’d be a pretty safe bet this was the last one.

Roansy Contreras is coming up to make a bulk relief appearance after Enns kicks off a bullpen game for the Orioles. There isn’t a ton of fantasy value to be extracted here.

    Recap

Dietrich Enns earned his first save despite giving up a run in the ninth Thursday against the Mariners.

Working with a three-run lead, Enns gave up two singles and a one-out walk before getting a pair of groundouts to end the game. It’s his third major league save; he had a three-inning save and a one-out save for the Rays in Sept. 2021 before heading to Japan in 2022. Enns has allowed two runs and struck out 12 in 6 1/3 innings since being DFA’d by the Tigers and picked up by the Orioles at the trade deadline. He seems best utilized as more of a long man, but since no one else is stepping up in the Orioles pen, it’s possible he’ll get more chances in the ninth.

Orioles acquired LHP Dietrich Enns from the Tigers for cash considerations.

The 34-year-old southpaw had been designated for assignment earlier in the day on Thursday, but the Orioles were happy to pounce and acquire an arm that can step right into their bullpen or rotation. Enns posted a 5.60 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and a 15/4 K/BB ratio over 17 2/3 innings in seven appearances (two starts) for the Tigers this season.

Tigers designated LHP Dietrich Enns for assignment.

Enns is off the 40-man roster to make room for Codi Heuer. Enns could be of interest on the waiver wire, and if he goes unclaimed, he can report back to Toledo or test free agency.

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch told reporters Dietrich Enns is being moved back to the bullpen.

Enns will not longer be taking the ball on Monday against the Rays. The 34-year-old southpaw was torched for eight runs — seven earned — over four innings on Thursday in a loss to the Nationals. He’ll pitch in relief moving forward and can be safely ignored in most fantasy formats.

    Recap

Dietrich Enns was clobbered in Thursday night’s loss to the Nationals, giving up eight runs (seven earned) on eight hits in his four-plus innings of work.

Yikes. The 34-year-old southpaw also walked a pair of batters in the ballgame while striking out three. The Tigers staked him to an early three-run advantage before he took the mound, but he immediately gave that back and then some by spotting the Nationals five runs in the first inning — the final three on an opposite-field blast off the bat of Paul DeJong. Enns also served up a solo homer to James Wood in the second inning. He got nine swings and misses on 83 pitches on the day, registering a CSW of 28 percent. It wouldn’t be terribly surprising to see Enns get optioned back to Triple-A Toledo after this disastrous performance.

Dietrich Enns hurled five scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and picking up a win in the Tigers’ 8-0 blowout victory over the Athletics on Thursday.

Baseball is weird. This is the first win for Enns in the majors since September 16, 2021. The 34-year-old allowed two walks and four strikeouts, and while he was far from dominant, it was a solid effort even when you consider the low expectations. There’s no guarantee that Enns makes more starts for Detroit, but he just might have earned another chance to pitch based on this effort. Good for you, Dietrich Enns.

Tigers recalled LHP Dietrich Enns from Triple-A Toledo.

Enns has a 2.89 ERA and a 71/15 K/BB in 62 1/3 innings at Triple-A Toledo this year. He will likely serve as a bulk reliever, which could be a role that earns some wins on a good Tigers team.

The Tigers will call up Dietrich Enns prior to Thursday’s game, sources told Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press.

He’ll presumably start that day against the A’s. Enns, who pitched in Japan and Korea from 2022-24, has a 2.89 ERA and a 71/15 K/BB in 62 1/3 innings for Triple-A Toledo this season. The 34-year-old left-hander is out of options, so he might get a chance to stick as a middle reliever or maybe as a replacement for Sawyer Gipson-Long with Reese Olson on the way back next week.
