Evans could potentially factor into Seattle’s postseason pitching plans after recording a respectable 4.32 ERA across 81 1/3 innings over 16 appearances (15 starts) this season in the majors. The 24-year-old rookie allowed one run over three innings on Saturday in relief against the Dodgers.

Evans has worked exclusively as a starter for the Mariners this season, but it sounds like he’ll function out of the bullpen for the final two games of the regular season. Casey Legumina was optioned out in a corresponding move on Saturday.

Evans struck out one and walked one while throwing 11 of his 22 pitches for strikes. He has been sidelined with elbow inflammation since August 15th, but said he “felt good” and was able to throw all of his pitches. The Mariners obviously won’t need him in the rotation for the playoffs, but he could operate in bulk relief if he were healthy.

Evans was pulled after only four innings from Thursday’s loss to the Orioles, and the elbow issue could have played a role in that. No word yet on the severity or how long he’ll be shelved for. Bryce Miller is at the end of his minor league rehab assignment and was expected to take Evans’ spot in the rotation next week anyways, so it’s just their overall rotation depth that takes a hit with this injury.

Evans struck out only one and walked four, including two in a messy fourth inning in which the Orioles got all of their runs off him. The loss leaves him 6-5 with a 4.37 ERA, which isn’t too bad. However, he’s 4-0 with a 3.32 ERA in his very pitcher friendly home ballpark and 2-5 with a 5.36 ERA elsewhere. He’ll probably head back to Triple-A now with Bryce Miller likely to return next week.

It’s worth noting that two of the runs that Evans allowed came after he left the game, as Junior Caminero hit a three-run homer off Caleb Ferguson following Evans departure. It’s also worth noting that line is pretty deserved, as he did allow those pair of runners to reach and gave up plenty of hard contact. It wasn’t a terrible start, but it’s a reminder that Evans is just holding a spot for Bryce Miller (elbow) until Miller can rejoin the rotation. Evans will make his next start Friday against the Mets in New York.

Evans struck out three batters on the afternoon and did not allow a base on balls. The big blow against him was a two-run blast off the bat of Corey Seager in the third inning. Evans also allowed a game-tying RBI double to Rowdy Tellez in the fourth. The 24-year-old hurler got 11 whiffs on 80 pitches on the day, posting a CSW of 29 percent. Now 5-4 on the season, he’ll tote a 4.30 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and a 53/23 K/BB ratio (69 innings) into Saturday’s matchup against the Rays.

Evans held the A’s off the board through two innings, then surrendered a three-run shot to Brent Rooker in the third. Two doubles brought a fourth run across before the inning was over. Evans later surrendered two more runs in the fifth, including a solo homer to Shea Langeliers, before he was removed with two outs in the inning. He struck out out seven. The 24-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 4.22 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, and a 50/23 K/BB ratio across 64 innings. He’ll take on the Rangers in Seattle on Sunday.

Evans gave up the lone run in the first inning on a RBI single by Nolan Schanuel. The right-hander dealt with some command issues with three walks and 45-of-79 pitches landing for strikes, but he was able to keep Los Angeles off the board from that point on. Evans just doesn’t miss enough bats to trust as a fantasy option, but the 24-year-old has held his own as a rookie with an ERA of 3.64. He’s slated to face the A’s in Sacramento next week.

Evans walked three against five strikeouts, and he allowed six hits. The line doesn’t look terrible because it isn’t, but the 24-year-old was fortunate it was only the two runs as there was plenty of hard contact throughout the start. Evans is a risky option against the power-hitting Angels’ lineup next week.

The Mariners had Monday off, so they could have started Bryan Woo on four days’ rest tonight. Instead, they opted to protect Woo by having him make just one start this week, something that almost surely cost them in a 9-6 loss. Evans had been solid previously, but he fell to 3-3 with a 3.75 ERA after giving up two homers tonight. With the break coming up, there’s a good chance he’ll be optioned out tomorrow.

Evans wasn’t exactly dominating the KC bats with swings and misses, but he was able to procure three strikeouts while allowing just three hit in his spot start. There’s a pretty good chance this will be more than a one-off, as Emerson Hancock hasn’t shown much consistency and Evans has had just enough moments like this to suggest he’s the better option. If he does start again before the break it’ll come against the Yankees, so fantasy managers should keep Evans on the radar but look elsewhere for that outing.

The 24-year-old hurler will hop into the Mariners’ rotation on Thursday evening against the Royals. Evans has done a nice job in seven starts for the M’s this season, registering a 3.38 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and a 30/12 K/BB ratio over 40 innings. The rest of the team’s rotation will be pushed back a day, with Bryan Woo starting Friday’s series opener against the Pirates.

Bryan Woo and the rest of the rotation will be pushed back a day, so it’ll be Woo, Luis Castillo and George Kirby facing the Pirates this weekend. It should just be a spot start for Evans, who could be sent right back down after the game.

The fact that the M’s are already optioning Evans out bodes well for Logan Gilbert potentially rejoining the Mariners’ rotation on Monday as had been anticipated. Evans did a nice job in seven starts at the big league level, posting a 3.38 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and a 30/12 K/BB ratio over 40 innings. He should get another opportunity the next time the Mariners need an extra starter.

Evans got through two relatively quiet innings before two walks, a triple and a sacrifice fly brought two runs in to score for the Diamondbacks in the third. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. then took him deep for a solo homer in the fourth. Three hits brought a fourth run in to score in the fifth before Evans’ day was done. He struck out five. The 24-year-old right-hander ends the outing with 3.38 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and a 30/12 K/BB ratio across 40 innings. Evans may not stick around in the rotation with Logan Gilbert’s imminent return.

Evans, who is 3-1 with a 2.83 ERA in six major league starts this season, will face the Diamondbacks tonight. He’ll be a streaming option in mixed leagues in his home starts if he gets the chance to stick around. The Mariners are getting Logan Gilbert back, probably early next week, but they could demote Emerson Hancock instead of Evans if Evans pitches well tonight.

Evans wasn’t going to have a spot in Seattle’s rotation in a couple days one Bryce Miller (elbow) returned from the injured list. The 23-year-old prospect leaves on a positive note after tossing eight strong frames on Tuesday in a win over the Nationals. He figures to return at some point later this season.

Evans was outstanding against the Nationals on Tuesday, holding them to one run over eight efficient innings. The only run against him came on a solo homer by James Wood in the fourth. He scattered three other hits and one walk, tossing 65-of-88 pitches for strikes. The 23-year-old right-hander holds a 2.83 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and a 25/10 K/BB ratio across 35 innings. He’s currently lined up for a start against the Twins in Seattle on Sunday, but that could be affected by the potential return of Bryce Miller from an elbow injury.

Evans probably deserved somewhat better than his results. He struck out five and walked two. All 11 hits he allowed were singles, and six of them came off Rangers bats at less than 80 mph. Evans should remain in the Seattle rotation for now and face the Blue Jays next weekend. Since it’s a home start, he’s a streaming option in deep mixed leagues.

The 23-year-old right-hander walked three and struck out three in the ballgame. He served up a long solo homer to Agustín Ramírez in the opening inning, then kept the Marlins at bay until they scratched out a run in his final inning of work. Evans got four swings and misses on 78 pitches on the day, posting an underwhelming CSW of only 17 percent. It sounds like he’ll get an opportunity to continue to work out of Logan Gilbert’s spot in the rotation, which means he’ll get the ball again on Sunday against the Rangers in Arlington.

Evans will make his major-league debut on Sunday afternoon against the rebuilding Marlins at T-Mobile Park. The 23-year-old was fast-tracked to the big leagues after being an unheralded 12th-round selection in the 2023 MLB Draft. He doesn’t miss a ton of bats, relying more on a command and control approach, and profiles as a back-end rotation stabilizer. He’ll likely get an extended opportunity with the Mariners while ace Logan Gilbert (forearm) is on the shelf.

Evans is considered one of the top pitching prospects in the Seattle system, and he’s forged a 3.86 ERA with a 23/4 K/BB over four starts and 25 2/3 innings. Evans doesn’t have great swing-and-miss stuff, but he’s going to face a poor Miami lineup that could make for a soft landing spot.
