It’s the second time this year that Eovaldi has pitched seven shutout frames. Unfortunately, he’s given up 21 earned runs over 25 2/3 innings in his other five starts. Still, he’s going to keep bringing his ERA down from the 4.76 he’s currently at. He’s set to face the Yankees again next time out, though it’ll be in the Bronx next time.

Eovaldi simply could not keep the ball in the yard here. Nick Kurtz blasted a 417 foot home run on the first pitch of the game and both Carlos Cortes and Tyler Soderstrom quickly joined in on the fun with long balls on their own. At that point, he’d thrown 12 pitches and allowed three homers. He settled in nicely for the few innings that followed before Cortes got the best of him again with a three-run just before Eovaldi was pulled. It’s been a challenging start to the season for him as he’ll take a 5.79 ERA into his next start against the Yankees.

Eovaldi gave up eight hits and one walk, and he only struck out three. That being said, two of the runs were unearned because of some shoddy defensive play, and outside of a long homer allowed to Luke Raley, he did a decent job of avoiding hard contact. Eovaldi hasn’t been nearly as good as he was in 2025, but it’s too early to be too worried. He’ll get the A’s at home Friday.

Eovaldi was brutal in his first couple starts, but he’s back to his winning form. The right-hander allowed only three hits while needing only 84 pitches to get through the outing, and he struck out seven against two walks. His ERA still sits at 5.40, but it was 11.57 after his first two appearances. Expect that number to continue to drop in the coming weeks, although he’ll face a decent Seattle lineup over the weekend.

Eovaldi served up a solo homer to Brendan Donovan on the first pitch of the game. He recovered to retire the next three batters on ten pitches. After settling in for three more scoreless frames, the Mariners would bring one more run across on a pair of hits in the fifth. Eovaldi completed five innings for the first time in three starts and went on to strand two runners in the sixth. He generated an incredible 22 whiffs to collect seven strikeouts. The 36-year-old right-hander will look to string together another excellent start when he takes on the Athletics in Sacramento next Monday.

The baseball gods have decided to get even with Eovaldi after letting him post a 1.73 ERA with a .243 BABIP last season. After two starts this year, he had a .481 BABIP and an 11.42 ERA. His velocity is fine and he’s managed to strike out 12 in 8 2/3 innings to date, so we wouldn’t worry much about him. He’ll face the Mariners next.

Eovaldi had a great spring and still appeared strong today with his eight strikeouts and his velocity up by one mph from last year. Unfortunately, he gave up two homers anyway and both came with men on. Last year, he allowed multiple homers just twice in 22 starts. Probably not a coincidence is that those outings came back-to-back not long before a shoulder injury got him shut down for the final five weeks. Still, we’d expect him to bounce back nicely next week versus the Orioles.

Eovaldi’s average fastball velocity dripped from 95.4 mph in 2023 to 94.1 mph last season, but he’s come in at 95.2 mph in his five spring starts. He’s a poor bet to make 30 starts — he’s done so only twice, in 2014 and 2021 — but he figures to be plenty valuable while healthy. The Rangers will use him as their Opening Day starter against the Phillies next week.

It’s likely that the decision came down to either Eovaldi or Jacob deGrom, so expect deGrom to get the nod in the Rangers’ home opener. Eovaldi is certainly deserving of the honor after posting a brilliant 1.73 ERA across 22 starts during the 2025 campaign.

Eovaldi struck out five and walked none while dealing with some lengthy waits as the Rangers racked up 18 runs over the first three innings. He has a 4.11 ERA through four starts, and his stuff looks much like it did while he was going 11-3 with a 1.73 ERA in 22 starts before hurting his shoulder last season.

Eovaldi struck out four and issued just one walk while building his pitch count to 68 (49 strikes) in his latest spring tune-up. The 36-year-old veteran has been quietly excellent on a per-start basis over the last three seasons since arriving in Texas, even as injuries have kept the volume in check. Those durability concerns naturally cap his realistic fantasy ceiling, but the underlying performance remains that of a high-end starter when he’s on the mound. He fits comfortably in the top-50 range among fantasy starters this spring — the type of calculated gamble where the risk is obvious, but the sky-high floor is equally tantalizing.

Eovaldi built up his pitch count to 43 (29 strikes) in his second spring outing, scattering two hits and one walk in the process. The 36-year-old veteran hurler has topped at least 130 innings in three consecutive seasons since arriving in Texas, allaying some of the concerns regarding his durability. He belongs squarely in the top-50 starting pitcher conversation in fantasy drafts this spring.

Eovaldi allowed all three runs on homers. He gave up a solo blast to Salvador Perez, and a two-run shot to Michael Massey. The stats obviously don’t mean much — if anything — and fantasy managers shouldn’t forget how good Eovaldi was in 2025 with a 1.73 ERA and 129/21 K/BB over his 130 innings.

The Rangers have yet to name a starter for Opening Day, though Eovaldi will be in the running for that honor as well, along with Jacob deGrom. The 36-year-old hurler had a brilliant 2025 season, compiling a minuscule 1.73 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and a 129/21 K/BB ratio over 130 innings in his 22 starts.

A rotator cuff strain that ended Eovaldi’s season, but it was reported last week that he was also seeing a hernia specialist. The surgery isn’t something that should have much of an effect on his preparation for next year.

Eovaldi was shut down in late September with a right rotator cuff strain, but Young noted that injury is no longer a problem. It sounds like he may need to get the hernia dealt with though at some point over the offseason. The expectation is still that the 35-year-old hurler will be fully recovered and ready to go for the start of spring training.

Nothing has changed in the prognosis for Eovaldi, who is out for the season with a right rotator cuff strain, this was done merely as a procedural move to free up a spot on the club’s 40-man roster for the promotion of Donovan Solano from Triple-A. Eovaldi is still expected to avoid surgery and should be ready to go for the start of spring training.

Rangers president Chris Young told reporters earlier this week that Eovaldi is likely to miss the rest of the season. The 35-year-old was putting together one of the strongest campaigns of his career with a stellar 1.73 ERA and 129/21 K/BB across 130 innings (22 starts). There should be a definitive update on his return timeline at some point in the coming weeks, but he’s most likely done for the year. It sounds like he won’t require offseason surgery and should be fully healthy heading into spring training.

t’s a brutal and unexpected blow for Eovaldi, who was in the midst of a Cy Young-caliber age-35 campaign with a microscopic 1.73 ERA and 129/21 K/BB across 130 innings (22 starts). He struck out nine and allowed just one run over seven frames in his last outing Friday against Cleveland and was slated to face the Angels on Wednesday. It’s a major loss for fantasy managers with five weeks left in the season.

Eovaldi gave up four hits, walked none and struck out nine. It was another incredible start for the right-hander who continues to enjoy a career-year at 35. Eovaldi’s 1.73 ERA is the best in the league, though he doesn’t qualify for the leaderboards yet due to a lack of innings. He’s lined up to face the Angels at home next week.

Both of the runs Eovaldi allowed were solo home runs. He struck out six, didn’t walk a batter, and posted a 23 percent whiff rate and 27 percent CSW on the day. The evolution of the 35-year-old has been really fun to watch. Once a pitcher who relied on an overpowering fastball, Eovaldi now has a deep mix of pitches and sequences tremendously. He’ll carry a 1.76 ERA into a start against the Angels next week.

The veteran right-hander struck out three batters on the night while issuing one base on balls. Eovaldi had allowed just five home runs all season over 111 innings through his first 19 starts, then served up three long balls in the span of two innings against the Diamondbacks on Monday — a solo shot by Tyler Locklear and two-run bombs from Corbin Carroll and Geraldo Perdomo. He got just five whiffs on 86 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 27 percent. Even with this debacle, Eovaldi still holds an outstanding 1.71 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and a 114/21 K/BB ratio over 116 innings on the season. He’ll look to bounce back as he takes on the Blue Jays in Toronto on Sunday.

The 35-year-old right-hander struck out six batters on the night and didn’t walk a batter. Eovaldi retired the first eight hitters that he faced before allowing a two-out double to Anthony Volpe in the third inning. He then retired the next 16 batters in order to finish his night. Simply spectacular. Eovaldi generated 15 swings and misses on 98 pitches in the ballgame — nine on his splitter — while registering a strong CSW of 30 percent. Now 10-3 on the season, he’ll carry a jaw-dropping 1.38 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and a 111/20 K/BB ratio (111 innings) into Monday’s matchup against the Diamondbacks.

Eovaldi scattered six hits, and he walked two against four strikeouts. The right-hander has been sensational in 2025, and this outing lowers his ERA to 1.49 on the season. His sample is a little smaller because of injury, but this is now 18 consecutive starts that Eovaldi hasn’t allowed more than three runs. Impressive. His next chance to impress is scheduled for Monday against the Yankees.

Eovaldi gave up three hits, walked four and struck out seven. The 35-year-old right-hander was originally supposed to start last Sunday against the Tigers, but back issues caused him to miss that start as well as Wednesday’s game against the Athletics. Eovaldi made it back on the mound Friday against the Braves and didn’t disappoint. He has a 1.50 ERA and 101/18 K/BB ratio in 96 innings this year. Eovaldi is lined up to face the Angels on the road next week.

There are zero guarantees when it comes to back issues, but Eovaldi appears on track to start Friday’s series opener against Atlanta. The 35-year-old veteran has been pushed back a couple times over the last week for some extra rest after experiencing back tightness. Fantasy managers should keep a close eye on his status heading into Friday’s contest at Globe Life Field.

It sounds like the Rangers have decided to reverse course and give Eovaldi a couple extra days this week after he was scratched from his previous start with back tightness. It’ll be Patrick Corbin taking the ball for Wednesday’s series finale. There are zero guarantees at this point, but it sounds like Eovaldi will be ready to start Friday’s series opener against Atlanta.

Barring a last-minute development, which can’t be ruled out when it comes to back issues, Eovaldi should take the ball for Wednesday’s series finale at Globe Life Field. The 35-year-old veteran was scratched from Sunday’s outing against the Tigers with back tightness, but it doesn’t appear to be a concern moving forward.

Eovaldi’s return is contingent upon him getting though the next couple days without any recurring back issues. The 35-year-old veteran right-hander was scratched from Sunday’s highly-anticipated duel against Tigers ace Tarik Skubal due to back tightness. There should be a definitive update from Rangers manager Bruce Bochy on his status at some point before or after Tuesday’s contest at Globe Life Field. It certainly sounds like there’s optimism Eovaldi will be ready for Wednesday’s series finale.
