A rotator cuff strain that ended Eovaldi’s season, but it was reported last week that he was also seeing a hernia specialist. The surgery isn’t something that should have much of an effect on his preparation for next year.

Eovaldi was shut down in late September with a right rotator cuff strain, but Young noted that injury is no longer a problem. It sounds like he may need to get the hernia dealt with though at some point over the offseason. The expectation is still that the 35-year-old hurler will be fully recovered and ready to go for the start of spring training.

Nothing has changed in the prognosis for Eovaldi, who is out for the season with a right rotator cuff strain, this was done merely as a procedural move to free up a spot on the club’s 40-man roster for the promotion of Donovan Solano from Triple-A. Eovaldi is still expected to avoid surgery and should be ready to go for the start of spring training.

Rangers president Chris Young told reporters earlier this week that Eovaldi is likely to miss the rest of the season. The 35-year-old was putting together one of the strongest campaigns of his career with a stellar 1.73 ERA and 129/21 K/BB across 130 innings (22 starts). There should be a definitive update on his return timeline at some point in the coming weeks, but he’s most likely done for the year. It sounds like he won’t require offseason surgery and should be fully healthy heading into spring training.

t’s a brutal and unexpected blow for Eovaldi, who was in the midst of a Cy Young-caliber age-35 campaign with a microscopic 1.73 ERA and 129/21 K/BB across 130 innings (22 starts). He struck out nine and allowed just one run over seven frames in his last outing Friday against Cleveland and was slated to face the Angels on Wednesday. It’s a major loss for fantasy managers with five weeks left in the season.

Eovaldi gave up four hits, walked none and struck out nine. It was another incredible start for the right-hander who continues to enjoy a career-year at 35. Eovaldi’s 1.73 ERA is the best in the league, though he doesn’t qualify for the leaderboards yet due to a lack of innings. He’s lined up to face the Angels at home next week.

Both of the runs Eovaldi allowed were solo home runs. He struck out six, didn’t walk a batter, and posted a 23 percent whiff rate and 27 percent CSW on the day. The evolution of the 35-year-old has been really fun to watch. Once a pitcher who relied on an overpowering fastball, Eovaldi now has a deep mix of pitches and sequences tremendously. He’ll carry a 1.76 ERA into a start against the Angels next week.

The veteran right-hander struck out three batters on the night while issuing one base on balls. Eovaldi had allowed just five home runs all season over 111 innings through his first 19 starts, then served up three long balls in the span of two innings against the Diamondbacks on Monday — a solo shot by Tyler Locklear and two-run bombs from Corbin Carroll and Geraldo Perdomo. He got just five whiffs on 86 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 27 percent. Even with this debacle, Eovaldi still holds an outstanding 1.71 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and a 114/21 K/BB ratio over 116 innings on the season. He’ll look to bounce back as he takes on the Blue Jays in Toronto on Sunday.

The 35-year-old right-hander struck out six batters on the night and didn’t walk a batter. Eovaldi retired the first eight hitters that he faced before allowing a two-out double to Anthony Volpe in the third inning. He then retired the next 16 batters in order to finish his night. Simply spectacular. Eovaldi generated 15 swings and misses on 98 pitches in the ballgame — nine on his splitter — while registering a strong CSW of 30 percent. Now 10-3 on the season, he’ll carry a jaw-dropping 1.38 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and a 111/20 K/BB ratio (111 innings) into Monday’s matchup against the Diamondbacks.

Eovaldi scattered six hits, and he walked two against four strikeouts. The right-hander has been sensational in 2025, and this outing lowers his ERA to 1.49 on the season. His sample is a little smaller because of injury, but this is now 18 consecutive starts that Eovaldi hasn’t allowed more than three runs. Impressive. His next chance to impress is scheduled for Monday against the Yankees.

Eovaldi gave up three hits, walked four and struck out seven. The 35-year-old right-hander was originally supposed to start last Sunday against the Tigers, but back issues caused him to miss that start as well as Wednesday’s game against the Athletics. Eovaldi made it back on the mound Friday against the Braves and didn’t disappoint. He has a 1.50 ERA and 101/18 K/BB ratio in 96 innings this year. Eovaldi is lined up to face the Angels on the road next week.

There are zero guarantees when it comes to back issues, but Eovaldi appears on track to start Friday’s series opener against Atlanta. The 35-year-old veteran has been pushed back a couple times over the last week for some extra rest after experiencing back tightness. Fantasy managers should keep a close eye on his status heading into Friday’s contest at Globe Life Field.

It sounds like the Rangers have decided to reverse course and give Eovaldi a couple extra days this week after he was scratched from his previous start with back tightness. It’ll be Patrick Corbin taking the ball for Wednesday’s series finale. There are zero guarantees at this point, but it sounds like Eovaldi will be ready to start Friday’s series opener against Atlanta.

Barring a last-minute development, which can’t be ruled out when it comes to back issues, Eovaldi should take the ball for Wednesday’s series finale at Globe Life Field. The 35-year-old veteran was scratched from Sunday’s outing against the Tigers with back tightness, but it doesn’t appear to be a concern moving forward.

Eovaldi’s return is contingent upon him getting though the next couple days without any recurring back issues. The 35-year-old veteran right-hander was scratched from Sunday’s highly-anticipated duel against Tigers ace Tarik Skubal due to back tightness. There should be a definitive update from Rangers manager Bruce Bochy on his status at some point before or after Tuesday’s contest at Globe Life Field. It certainly sounds like there’s optimism Eovaldi will be ready for Wednesday’s series finale.

Eovaldi will be scratched from Sunday’s outing as a precaution. Jacob Latz will make the start in his place. Eovaldi has been exceptional when on the mound, but fantasy managers should be prepared for Eovaldi to potentially miss more than just the one outing.

Eovaldi gave up five hits, walked one and struck out eight. The 35-year-old right-hander won his third consecutive start and has allowed just one run over his last 18 2/3 innings. Eovaldi will take a 1.58 ERA and 94/14 K/BB ratio in 91 innings into the All-Star break.

The Angels got the leadoff man on base in the first inning on an error and scored an unearned run on a base hit by Nolan Schanuel. Eovaldi settled in to scatter four more hits over five scoreless innings, striking out six batters over his six innings on his way to a win. The 35-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 1.62 ERA, 0.85 WHIP, and an 86/13 K/BB ratio across 83 1/3 innings. He’ll take on the Astros in Houston on Sunday.

Eovaldi was back to his usual tricks in this one after a rough return from the injured list last time out. He forced multiple swings-and-misses with his fastball, cutter, and splitter and the Orioles were never able to get anything going against him. However, he was only able to work up to 72 pitches in this outing. The Rangers are continuing to limit Eovaldi’s workload after he spent a month on the IL and returned to the team without going out on a rehab assignment. Expect him to stay around this 75-pitch limit next time out against the Angels.

Eovaldi was making his first start since late May, and it showed. He didn’t have close to his best command, and honestly was fortunate to just give up the three runs. It’s a disappointing result, but it’s hard to be too concerned given how good he was prior to the injury and the circumstances. Eovaldi will get another crack at it Wednesday against the Orioles.

The 35-year-old hurler had been shelved since late May due to triceps fatigue. It’s unclear what sort of pitch limit he’ll face, if any, in Friday night’s start against the Mariners. Fantasy managers may want to take a wait-and-see approach here rather than rushing Eovaldi right back into starting lineups.

Eovaldi will skip a rehab assignment entirely and jump back into Texas’ rotation mix after making it through Saturday’s live batting practice session without any issues or setbacks. The 35-year-old veteran will likely have some workload limitation from a pitch count standpoint in his return outing, but it’s a boost for fantasy managers that he’s coming back. He’s been out since late May working his way back from triceps fatigue.

Eovaldi is trending towards being ready to take the ball for the Rangers at some point next week. The 35-year-old workhorse has been out since late May recovering from triceps fatigue. He would likely take over Tyler Mahle’s vacated spot in Texas’ rotation mix.

Eovaldi remains back in Texas undergoing further evaluation, but Rangers manager Bruce Bochy told reporters he’ll likely progress to throwing a bullpen session later this week. The 35-year-old righty hit the injured list last week with triceps fatigue, but isn’t expected to require a lengthy absence.

Eovaldi told reporters earlier on Sunday that he was aiming to start this week against the Rays. That’s clearly no longer the plan. The 35-year-old righty will get some extra time off to continue resting and recovering after having his previous start pushed back due to triceps fatigue. It seems like the Rangers are exercising an abundance of caution with the situation and would rather not take any chances instead of pushing him back out there this week based on Sunday’s remarks from president of baseball operations Chris Young. There should be some clarity on his potential return timeline in the coming days.

Eovaldi is scheduled to throw a bullpen session during Monday’s off day before Texas kicks off a three-game series against the Rays. The 35-year-old righty was able to play catch earlier this week without any issues after exiting his previous start on Tuesday with triceps fatigue. Fantasy managers should anticipate Eovaldi being ready to take the ball this week, barring an unexpected development.

Eovaldi left Tuesday’s start against the Blue Jays after only two innings due to right triceps fatigue, so the move certainly makes sense. The Rangers have an off day on Monday, so the rest of their rotation will remain on regular rest until the club decides when and where to slot Eovaldi back in. He had been lined up for two starts next week, now that assignment will go to Tyler Mahle.
