Fulmer landed on the injured list on August 24 due to inflammation in his right elbow. While there’s still no clear timetable for his return, he’s obviously not going to make it back before the end of the season, so putting him on the 60-day IL to free up a spot on the team’s 40-man roster makes sense.

Fulmer is likely done for the season given the nature of the injury with only five weeks left. The 31-year-old reliever suffered the injury after allowing six runs over 1 1/3 innings on Saturday in a loss to the Cubs.

The right-hander was lit up for six runs on seven hits over 1 1/3 innings against the Cubs on Saturday evening and didn’t look right on the hill, so it’s not surprising to hear that something may be awry. Don’t be surprised if he winds up landing on the injured list.

Fulmer rejoins Los Angeles’ relief mix ahead of Wednesday’s game against the Rangers after latching on with the club earlier this month. The 31-year-old righty made a career-high 37 appearances (eight starts) last season for the Angels. He’ll operate in a versatile swingman-type role out of the bullpen.

Fulmer returns to Los Angeles, where he made a career-high 37 appearances (eight starts) last season, after being released earlier this week by the Pirates. The 31-year-old former top pitching prospect was cut loose after compiling a pedestrian 4.64 ERA across 42 2/3 innings (13 appearances, six starts) this season at the Triple-A level. He’ll likely make his way to the Angels’ bullpen mix at some point in the coming weeks as long relief depth.
