Flaherty struck out four while allowing five hits and issuing two walks. That’d be a decent afternoon if he went more than two innings. He did not, and three of those hits went over the fence in another disappointing start for the 30-year-old. He threw more strikes than his six-walk disaster against the Red Sox on Monday, and that’s about the only positive you can take from the contest. Flaherty will try and bounce back against the Rangers on Friday in Detroit.

The two earned runs scored on Flaherty’s own error when he fielded a bunt attempt and had Caleb Durbin dead to rights between third base and home plate before throwing the ball away. Flaherty struggled with command all day, throwing just 56 percent of his pitches for strikes. He was also down two mph on almost all of his pitches. He did produce a 37 percent whiff rate, and some of the command and velocity issues could be connected to the 11 AM start as part of Marathon Monday. The 30-year-old has 20 walks in 23 innings this season and is not a recommended start next week in Cincinnati.

Flaherty gave up two hits, walked three and struck out seven. His velocity was down in his previous two starts, but he was back up to 93.7 mph with his fastball tonight. Control still seems like a concern, though. He was credited with strikes on just 53 of 97 pitches tonight, and he has a walk rate of 16 percent through four turns. He’ll be quite the risky play in mixed leagues next week with starts in Boston and Cincinnati.

Flaherty allowed eight hard-hit balls and walked three, so he probably deserved a few more runs on the ledger. He was outdueled by Mick Abel in a game that eventually went down to the bullpens. Still, it’s good to see him battling his ERA down below six. Flaherty will be a fringe 12-team starter next week against the Royals.

Flaherty continues to struggle throwing strikes and working through opposing lineups a third time. He was all over the place against his former team in this one, throwing just 47 of 86 pitches for strikes while handing out four walks and hitting three batters. He finished with six strikeouts but was unable to complete five frames against an underwhelming Cardinals lineup. He’ll bring a lackluster 7.56 ERA into a road tilt against the Twins on Thursday afternoon.

Flaherty had significant issues with finding the strike zone, as just 49-of-89 pitches landing for strikes, and he walked four before leaving. The right-hander was hurt by his defense with an error allowing one run to score, but it’s more than fair to say that Flaherty didn’t have his best stuff in his first outing of 2026. A chance to bounce back comes Saturday against the Cardinals.

Troy Johnson and TJ Rumfield homered off him. Flaherty ends the spring with a 7.92 ERA, having given up four homers in 12 2/3 innings. It doesn’t mean all that much, but it doesn’t make him look like any better of bet for a 2026 after he was already a well below average starter last year.

He struck out three and walked one on the day while posting a 22 percent whiff rate and 24 percent CSW. As per usual, most of his success was thanks to his slider, which had a 56 percent whiff rate. He threw enough strikes, but his fastball got hit hard, and the ceiling for Flaherty seems low for fantasy outside of deeper formats.

Flaherty had a 37% CSW and allowed just one hard-hit ball today, and he’s now struck out eight in five innings on the spring. The 30-year-old is looking for a bounce-back season after going 8-15 with a 4.64 ERA last year and then exercising a $20 million player option to remain with the Tigers.

Flaherty was mad that one his strike threes was challenged by Phillies minor leaguer Dylan Campbell and said something about it. It didn’t seem entirely appropriate, but the pitch was a clear strike, and it was really Campbell’s team that should have been upset with him. Flaherty has allowed two runs in three innings to open the spring.

The 30-year-old right-hander struck out one (Colton Cowser) and didn’t walk a batter. The lone hit that he allowed was a two-out solo homer by Heston Kjerstad. What’s exciting to take away is that Flaherty exhibited increased velocity on all of his pitches, with his fastball averaging 93.7 mph (+0.8 mph) and his slider sitting at 93.7 mph (+2.2 mph). Of course it was only one inning of work, so it needs to be taken with a grain of salt, but it’s something to monitor as the spring progresses.

Flaherty will remain with Detroit for at least one additional season after signing a two-year, $35 million pact last offseason to return to the Tigers after winning a World Series title with the Dodgers. The 30-year-old righty recorded an underwhelming 4.64 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 188/59 K/BB ratio across 161 innings over 31 starts this past season. He’ll aim to put together a rebound campaign before testing the open market again next offseason.

Flaherty could have been pulled down 2-0 in the third, but he bounced back that inning to strike out Julio Rodríguez and Jorge Polanco with two on and then benefitted from Josh Naylor’s 394-foot drive to right-center, which would have been a homer in 11 ballparks, being caught on the track at Comerica. He was then left in for the fourth, which started with a homer and a walk before Flaherty struck out Victor Robles and was pulled. The inherited runner came around to score off Tommy Kahnle. The loss leaves Flaherty 2-6 with a 5.24 ERA lifetime in the postseason.

He’ll be followed by Casey Mize in Game 4 (if necessary) on Wednesday. Tarik Skubal would then get the call if the series goes to a decisive fifth game back in Seattle on Friday evening. Flaherty is coming off of a strong outing against the Guardians in the Wild Card round where he allowed just one run on three hits over 4 2/3 quality frames.

The 29-year-old right-hander punched out four batters on the afternoon while issuing a pair of walks. The lone tally against him came on an RBI single by Jose Ramirez on a 3-2 pitch with first base open in the fourth inning. Flaherty got seven whiffs on 74 pitches on the day, posting a CSW of 31 percent. The next time that he takes the mound will come against the Mariners in the Division Series.

Flaherty was amped tonight, with his fastball averaging 1.2 mph than his season norm. He wound up striking out six and walking none, but it was another rough day at the office anyway. He’ll finish as the only AL pitcher with 15 losses unless the White Sox’s Tyler Alexander picks up one more in relief. The Tigers have gone 9-22 in his 31 starts.

The Tigers were shut out tonight, so Flaherty took his 14th loss. He’s tied with Tyler Alexander for the high total there among AL pitchers. It’s hardly all his fault, but the Tigers are 9-21 in his starts, compared to 76-46 the rest of the time. He’s slated to face the Guardians again next week.

Flaherty allowed only two hits and one walk tonight, but he still did need 99 pitches to get his 15 outs, preventing him from working deep into the game. That didn’t prove to be much of an issue, though, as the Tigers expanded their lead from 2-0 to 11-1 after he departed. It’s just Flaherty’s third win in his last 16 starts. He’s now 8-14 with a 4.69 ERA for the year, and he’ll get the Guardians next.

Flaherty struck out two batters on the evening while issuing two free passes. The White Sox had traffic on the bases against him in every inning, scratching out single runs in the first, third, fourth and fifth innings. The 29-year-old right-hander got just six swings and misses on 83 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 27 percent. He’ll try to put this one behind him and get back on track as he carries a 4.85 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and a 171/54 K/BB ratio (146 2/3 innings) into Thursday’s battle against the Yankees in New York.

Flaherty and Stephen Kolek both pitched well, so neither was able to get the win they deserved. Flaherty allowed four hits with two walks, and he struck out four. The one blemish was a solo homer from Maikel Garcia. Flaherty still has an ugly 4.74 ERA on the season, but he’s still capable of starts like this. He has a friendly matchup on paper against the White Sox on Friday.

Flaherty struck out three batters on the day and didn’t allow a base on balls. After retiring the first eight batters that he faced in order, the Royals strung together seven consecutive two-out hits in the third inning to push six runs across. Flaherty then settled in and kept the Royals off the board until he allowed the first two hitters to reach in the sixth inning — both of which ultimately scored against the Tigers’ bullpen. He got just six whiffs on 87 pitches on the day, registering a CSW of 28 percent. He’ll try to pick up the pieces as he carries a miserable 4.87 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and a 165/50 K/BB ratio (136 2/3 innings) into a rematch against the Royals in Kansas City on Saturday.

Flaherty has been terribly inconsistent, but it’s nice to see he can still do this on occasion. The nine strikeouts matched a season high, which he’d already achieved four times. He won just the seventh time opposite 12 losses. The Tigers are 8-17 when he pitches and 66-36 the rest of the time. He’ll face the Royals on Sunday.

Flaherty had shut out the White Sox through his first four frames, but everything fell apart in the fifth as they put together six singles in the first seven batters of the inning to push four runs across. Another run would score against the bullpen after Flaherty exited. Overall, he surrendered five runs on eight hits over 4 1/3 innings while walking one and striking out six. He got 19 whiffs on 86 pitches in the game — 12 on his knuckle curve — while posting a CSW of 35 percent. He’ll look to bounce back as he carries a 4.76 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and a 153/49 K/BB ratio (124 2/3 innings) into Monday’s matchup against the Astros.

Flaherty is now 6-11 on the season. The right-hander was fantastic against the Phillies over his last two outings. This one wouldn’t come close to qualifying as excellent. Mediocre would probably be too kind, as well. The 29-year-old allowed eight hits and a walk while striking out three, and that pushes his ERA to 4.56 on the season. He’ll try and replicate his success prior to Wednesday against the White Sox in Chicago on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old right-hander racked up seven strikeouts on the night while issuing three free passes. He shut the Phillies out completely through the first six innings then allowed a leadoff single in the seventh before turning the ball over to the bullpen. That run ultimately scored against the Tigers’ bullpen — as did another pair of runs to cost him his hard-earned victory. Flaherty generated 15 swings and misses on 95 pitches on the evening, registering a CSW of 33 percent. He’ll look to keep the good times rolling as he carries a 4.36 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and a 144/47 K/BB ratio (115 2/3 innings) into Wednesday’s battle against the Twins.

Flaherty punched out seven batters on the afternoon. All five of the hits that he allowed were singles. The only real threat against him came in the opening inning as the Jays put together a pair of two-out singles, but Flaherty battled back to strike out Addison Barger to squash the threat. He got 16 whiffs on 106 pitches on the day — seven of those on his slider — while posting a CSW of 30 percent. Now 6-10 on the season, he’ll look to further improve upon his 4.51 ERA and 1.28 WHIP as he does battle against the Phillies in Philadelphia on Saturday.

All of the runs came in the second, when the Pirates came up with three singles and two walks, but Flaherty was in trouble throughout — he also had two men reach in both the first and third — and things would have been quite a bit worse if he hadn’t racked up six strikeouts. Still, it was a poor showing against a poor offense. Flaherty’s ERA is up to 4.77, and while he’s definitely not going to be replaced, he’s a big reason the Tigers need to think about trading for another starter in the hopes of making a long postseason run.

Flaherty gave up four hits, walked two and struck out seven. The 29-year-old right-hander has struck out at least seven batters in each of his last four starts. While Flaherty’s ERA is 4.65, his 3.60 xFIP indicates he’s been unlucky. He could help himself by inducing more ground balls as his 34 percent ground ball percentage is five percent lower than last year’s 39 percent ground percentage. Flaherty takes a 124/40 K/BB ratio in 100 2/3 innings into the All-Star break.

The 29-year-old right-hander scattered seven hits on the evening while issuing one base on balls. He served up a solo homer to Jonathan Aranda in the opening inning and then allowed an RBI single to Josh Lowe in the third inning, but that was the extent of the damage done against him. Flaherty got 16 swings and misses on 93 pitches on the night — nine of those on his knucklecurve — while posting a CSW of 34 percent. He’ll likely finish the first half with a 5-9 record, 4.70 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and a 117/38 K/BB ratio over 95 2/3 innings in 18 starts, though there’s still a chance he could work in the first half finale on Sunday against the Mariners.

Flaherty made a nice recovery from a two-run, 41-pitch first inning and needed only 56 pitches to get his remaining 12 outs. He wound up with 16 missed swings and a nice 36% CSW while matching his season high in strikeouts. It’s been a tough stretch for the right-hander, who had lost each of his last three starts before the no-decision here, but tonight should make those rostering him feel a little better.
