Freeland winds up requiring a trip to the injured list after being scratched from last Sunday’s start against the Padres with shoulder tightness. The Rockies gave him a couple days to see if he could work through the issue, but it clearly wasn’t responding the way they hoped. The 32-year-old southpaw has compiled a respectable 2.30 ERA and 13/4 K/BB ratio across 15 2/3 innings over three starts this season. He should be back by early May.

Freeland was unable to make the start in the series finale against San Diego, and his status going forward will likely be determined by imaging. Even if there’s nothing structurally wrong with Freeland, a trip to the injured list can’t be ruled out.

Freeland tossed a clean first inning, then surrendered a solo homer to Christian Walker in the second. That would be the only damage the Astros could do on Freeland as he held them from scoring again into the seventh, scattering two other hits and one walk while striking out five. The 32-year-old left-hander will look to keep the early-season success going in a start against the Padres in San Diego on Sunday.

Freeland left down 1-0, but the Rockies came back to win in 10. He has a 2.89 ERA through two starts, both of them on the road. He’ll make his season debut at homer against the Astros on Tuesday.

Freeland walked two batters in the first inning but escaped unharmed. It would be the only two batters he walked on the evening. In the bottom of the second, however, three-straight hits surrendered to Xavier Edwards, Owen Caissie, and Javier Sanoja, plated two runs for the Marlins in the frame to give them the early 2-0 lead. Freeland again found himself in trouble in the third inning when he put runners on the corners with one out via a hit and a hit batter, but back-to-back groundballs ended that threat. He was pulled after allowing a groundball out to Jakob Marsee to start the fifth inning to, putting an end to his first start of the season. Freeland did his part to limit runners after a shaky first two innings. His next start is scheduled for Wednesday in Toronto.

Freeland scattered four hits with one walk and a pair of strikeouts. He ends his Cactus League season with a 1.00 ERA, which is impressive even when acknowledging the lack of stakes. It’s not impressive enough to make him worthy of fantasy consideration, but good for Freeland.

The 32-year-old southpaw uncharacteristically racked up four strikeouts on the afternoon and didn’t walk a batter. The only baserunner against him came on a two-out double by Jefferson Rojas in his final inning of work. Freeland peppered the strike zone in this one, throwing 27 of his 34 pitches for strikes. His four strikeout victims were Matt Shaw, Dylan Carlson, Kevin Alcantara and Jonathan Long. For the spring, he holds a stellar 1.80 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and a 6/3 K/BB ratio over five innings in his two starts. He’s still not a recommended option for fantasy purposes.

Freeland had a bit of an easier matchup today after facing Team USA in his spring debut last week. He’s not quite as far along as the rest of the Rockies’ pitchers after dealing with back spasms, but he’s in line to be ready for Opening Day.

Freeland is a little behind because of back spasms, but aside from a big miss to Aaron Judge that was rightfully rocketed 453 feet out to left field, he looked good today. He should still have time to stretch out to at least five innings before the season starts.

Freeland has been dealing with back spasms, but he’s feeling well enough to get the ball against the vaunted USA lineup in an exhibition bout. Freeland should be ready to go for the regular season, but offers not even a morsel of fantasy upside in his left arm at this stage of his career.

After a scoreless first inning, Freeland surrendered a three-run blast to Casey Schmitt in the second. He settled in to toss four more scoreless frames, ending his day with four strikeouts over six innings. The 32-year-old left-hander ends the season with a 4.98 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, and a 124/38 K/BB ratio across 162 2/3 innings.

The 32-year-old southpaw piled up seven strikeouts in the ballgame while allowing just one base on balls. The only damage done against him came on an RBI single off the bat of Jo Adell in the opening inning. After that, Freeland blanked them for the remainder of his afternoon. He generated seven swings and misses on 85 pitches on the day, posting a CSW of 26 percent. He’ll try to finish the season strong as he carries a 5.00 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and a 120/37 K/BB ratio (156 2/3 innings) into Saturday’s battle against the Giants in San Francisco.

Freeland tossed two scoreless innings before giving up three runs in the third, including two on a double by Jakob Marsee. Five more hits in the sixth would bring three more runs in to score for Miami before Freeland was chased with two outs at 73 pitches. He struck out just one. The 32-year-old left-hander will take a 5.14 ERA, 1.47 WHIP, and a 113/36 K/BB ratio across 150 2/3 innings into a start against the Angels in Colorado on Sunday.

All four runs Freeland allowed in the second were unearned after Kyle Karros committed an error to start the frame. The loss leaves Freeland 4-15 with a 4.97 ERA, and he’s now tied with Mitchell Parker and teammate Antonio Senzatela for the most losses in the leagues. He’ll make his next start at home against the Marlins.

Uhh, what? Freeland has been one of the most consistently ineffective starts in baseball, but this an exceptional effort from the 32-year-old. He threw only 88 pitches, so it was a little surprising the Rockies didn’t give him a chance for the shutout. It’s almost assuredly just a one-off, but it was an awfully good one. Freeland will try and shut us up again versus the Dodgers on Wednesday.

After a clean first inning, Freeland surrendered a two-run homer to Andrew McCutchen to start the second. Jared Triolo added two more runs on Freeland with a homer in the third. A triple and a double would make it five runs for the Pirates in the fifth. Freeland’s day would be done after five innings with six strikeouts. The 32-year-old left-hander will take a 5.31 ERA, 1.52 WHIP, and a 91/34 K/BB ratio across 125 1/3 innings into a start against the Cubs in Colorado on Friday.

Freeland was pitching decently before the injury, but was unable to continue. The left-hander allowed six hits and one walk before exiting. The 32-year-old’s scheduled to face the Pirates on Saturday, but there’s obviously no guarantee that he’ll be able to make that start.

We’re just as surprised as you are. Freeland has been wholly ineffective for the overwhelming majority of 2025, but he worked around five hits and two walks and pitched into the eighth inning. It’s hard to imagine this setting a new trend, but it happened. Freeland will take a 3-12 record and 5.18 ERA into a start scheduled for Sunday against the Diamondbacks.

Colorado’s pitching staff was unable to solve the Blue Jays during any of the three games in this series and Freeland became the latest buzzsaw victim in this one. He served up seven hits, including a three-run homer to Bo Bichette, which accounted for most of the damage. He struck out four and issued two walks. He’ll aim for better results on Tuesday in a road outing against the Cardinals.

Clearly uncomfortable from the start, Freeland’s velocity was down significantly and he was constantly keeled over in this abbreviated outing. Pulled after three innings with what the team called “illness effects,” it’s clear he may not have been well enough to start this game at all. Hopefully he feels better before his next turn at home against the Blue Jays.

This game started off just about as bad as a game could for Freeland. He allowed four solo home runs to the first eight batters of the game and it looked like the wheels were about to fall off. However, he wouldn’t allow a run through the rest of his start and provided great length for a Rockies’ rotation that could certainly use it. He did allow a shocking 14 hard-hit balls in total, but that’s neither here nor there. His next next is scheduled to come on the road against the Guardians.

Freeland struck out three batters on the evening while issuing three free passes. The only blemish on his day came on a solo blast off the bat of Byron Buxton in the fifth inning. Aside from that, he was fantastic. The 32-year-old southpaw got eight swings and misses on 95 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 26 percent. Now 2-10 on the season, he’ll carry a 5.19 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and a 70/25 K/BB ratio (95 1/3 innings) into Wednesday’s battle against the Cardinals.

Freeland allowed two hits through five scoreless innings before giving up a single, a walk and a bloop RBI single with one out in the sixth. The latter hit probably would have been caught by a better right fielder than Tyler Freeman, and Freeman himself might have caught it if not for his hamstring issue. Freeland exited then, and both inherited runners came around to score against Juan Mejia. Freeland dropped to 1-10 with a 5.44 ERA. He’ll likely start again Sunday against the Reds.

Freeland departed with a two-run lead, but that was blown right away in the seventh. It’s the fifth time this season that he’s exited in line for a win, but he’s just 1-9 in 16 starts. He’ll make his next start in Boston against the Red Sox.

Freeland looked the exact same as he did prior to his two-week stint on the injured list. Not a compliment. He’s now 1-9 on the season with an ERA of 5.56. He will have a great chance to get his 10th loss against the Astros on Thursday.

Freeland gave up a two-run homer to Willy Adames in the first and a sac fly to Adames in the third. From that point out, the southpaw held San Francisco scoreless in a solid — if unspectacular — start from the 32-year-old. Freeland remains impossible to recommend from a fantasy perspective and that includes his scheduled start next week against the Nationals.

Both runs came in the seventh after an Orlando Arcia error got things started. Freeland gave up his third and fourth hits of the afternoon afterwards and was lifted. Fortunately, the Rockies pen was able to limit the damage from there. It’s the team’s second win in Freeman’s 13 outings this season. His ERA sits at 5.19, but he has a solid enough 52/13 K/BB in 67 2/3 innings. Freeland’s next start will come at home versus the Giants.
