Woof. It’s tied for the shortest start that Fried has made on the season, as he had one three inning start in mid-July that he was pulled from due to a blister issue. The 31-year-old southpaw served up a two-run homer to Ernie Clement in the second inning to get the scoring started. They piled on with three more in the third and their first two hitters reached to start the fourth inning before Fried mercifully handed the ball over to the bullpen. He got just five swings and misses in 51 pitches on the afternoon, posting an underwhelming CSW of 24 percent. Unless the Yankees can rally, it looks like it’ll be a disappointing end to what was otherwise a terrific season for the veteran left-hander.

Fried locked horns with Red Sox ace Garrett Crochet in a throwback pitcher’s duel and authored an impressive performance in his Pinstripes postseason debut, generating 19 swinging strikes and allowing only one extra-base hit over six innings. The 31-year-old southpaw didn’t face much resistance from Boston’s lineup until a pair of fourth-inning hits put a pair of runners in scoring position before he punched out Jarren Duran to eliminate the threat. He wriggled out of another jam in the ensuing frame to keep the Red Sox off the scoreboard. Things began to unravel a bit in the sixth when Carlos Narváez worked a nine-pitch walk against him before a double-play ball off the bat of Nate Eaton got him out of the tight spot. He was forced to settle for a no-decision after Luke Weaver allowed a pair of seventh inning runs following his departure.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone made it official that Fried will square off against Red Sox ace Garrett Crochet on Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium to kick off a highly-anticipated three-game series between the longtime rivals. The 31-year-old wrapped up his first season in Pinstripes with an American League-leading 19 wins and a 2.86 ERA across 195 1/3 innings over 32 starts.

Fried put the finishing touches on what may have been the best regular season of his career. The White Sox were clueless against his deep repertoire and he forced a swing-and-miss with five different pitches. His command was excellent too, dotting everything on the edges and forcing hitters to make uncomfortable decisions. He’ll close his regular season with 19 wins to lead the league and a 2.86 ERA.

Fried scattered just three hits on the night — all of them singles — while issuing one base on balls. The only scoring threat against him came in the second inning as Jeremiah Jackson drew a one-out walk and Coby Mayo followed with a single. Fried then rallied to retire the next two hitters to diffuse the situation. He got a whopping 28 swings and misses on 87 pitches on the night — eight on his changeup — while posting an other-worldly CSW of 48 percent. Now 18-5 on the season, he’ll carry a stellar 2.92 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and a 182/49 K/BB ratio (188 1/3 innings) into his final regular season tune-up against the White Sox on Wednesday.

Fried worked around two runners in each of the first two innings and kept Boston off the board through four before Alex Bregman took him deep for a solo homer in the fifth. Three straight hits with out one would put a second run on the board for the Red Sox and knock Fried from the game at 105 pitches with six strikeouts. The 31-year-old left-hander will take an excellent 3.03 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and a 169/48 K/BB ratio across 181 1/3 innings into a start against the Orioles in Baltimore on Thursday.

Fried outstanding on Tuesday, tossing five shutout frames in Houston before two hits and a groundout brought a run in to score for the Astros in the sixth inning. He gave the Yankees one more scoreless inning, ending his day after seven with five strikeouts. The 31-year-old left-hander holds a 2.98 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and a 159/45 K/BB ratio across 169 innings. He’ll take on the Blue Jays in New York on Sunday.

Despite having to go 45 minutes in between innings after a nine-run third in which the Yankees saw 77 pitches, Fried had a no-hitter going through five. He then gave up three straight singles in the sixth to score a run. The Yankees were probably fine with that, since there was no way they wanted Fried going the distance in this one. The lefty ended up throwing 94 pitches in his seven innings and winning for the 14th time this year. He’ll face the Astros in a road start next week.

Fried gave up four hits, walked three and struck out seven. The 31-year-old left-hander bounced back after allowing seven runs in his last start, but a lack of run support cost him a win. Fried has a 3.14 ERA and 148/40 K/BB ratio in 155 innings this year. He’s lined up to face the Nationals at home next week.

The struggles for Fried continue, but this time they come with a win. Consolation prizes are cool, sometimes. The left-hander was ineffective early and often; allowing eight hits and two homers including a three-run shot from Masyn Winn. Fried possessed an ERA blow 2.00 heading into July, but that’s ballooned to 3.26 over his last eight starts. A chance to rebound comes Friday against the Red Sox.

Fried gave up eight hits, walked one and struck out three. The 31-year-old left-hander allowed four runs for the third time in his last four starts. Fried has seen his ERA go from 2.43 to 2.94 over that stretch. He’s lined up to face the Cardinals on the road next weekend.

The unearned runs were the product of an Anthony Volpe error. Fried allowed just four hits, and he fanned nine for the third time this year. He’s tied with Garrett Crochet and Freddy Peralta for the major league lead with 12 victories. He’ll likely make his next start Monday against the Rangers.

Fried’s line doesn’t look great, but this poor start had more bad luck in it than bad pitching. The Yankees made three errors behind him which led to two unearned runs and a lot more undue stress that could have been avoided. Also, he kept looking down at his left hand and rubbing it on his pants as this game went along, possibly indicating he could still be dealing with the blisters that have troubled him lately. Of course, he also did not miss many bats and invited trouble by letting two many men on base, poor defense aside. This was a start to forget and he’ll look to right the ship in his next start against the Rays. Just keep an eye out for any updates regarding his blisters.

Fried was unable to start Friday’s second-half opener against Atlanta due to a lingering blister issue, but it appears he’ll be ready to take the ball again midway through next week. The 31-year-old southpaw has dealt with blister issues throughout his career and had this latest one crop up during his final first-half outing. They tend to be a recurring issue, so fantasy managers should keep a close eye on his upcoming outing in Toronto.

Fried had been scheduled to start the second half opener on Friday night, but he and the Yankees wanted to give his blister a few extra days to calm down. It sounds like if he continues to progress he’ll slot into the team’s rotation early next week, but a backdated stint on the injured list remains a possibility if it continues to linger.

The Yankees are opening the second half with an opener. Marcus Stroman and Cam Schlitter could both be available in relief, but those plans haven’t been disclosed. There hasn’t been any update on whether Fried will be available at all this weekend. If Fried can’t go, we imagine the Yankees will use Will Warren tomorrow and Carlos Rodón on Sunday.

Fried was lifted from his final first-half start after allowing four runs — three earned — on 73 pitches (39 strikes) over three innings. He struck out two and also issued three walks. The 31-year-old fantasy ace will certainly benefit from next week’s All-Star break, but blister issues tend to be complicated matters and usually require rest before they can be truly resolved. The hope here for the Yankees and fantasy managers is that they managed to catch it before the issue became a greater concern. He’s made four trips to the injured list over the last eight years due to blister issues. There should be a definitive update on his status and outlook at some point later this weekend. We’ll have updates on the developing situation as it unfolds.

No official word yet, but we’re assuming Fried didn’t want to pitch on two days’ rest after starting Saturday. Rodón doesn’t seem like a great replacement choice at this point after posting a 5.34 ERA in his last six starts, but he was excellent prior to that.

Fried gave up six hits, walked one and struck out five. The 31-year-old left-hander’s pitch count got up to 98 after five innings and the Yankees elected to go to the bullpen. Fried had completed at least six innings in his last six starts entering play Sunday. He has a 2.27 ERA and 111/24 K/BB ratio in 119 innings this year. Fried is lined up to face the Cubs at home next weekend.

The runs were all earned, at least for now. Jazz Chisholm Jr. certainly should have had Davis Schneider out on a soft grounder to third in the fourth, but he threw wide of Paul Goldschmidt, pulling him off the bag. It was ruled a single, but it sure seemed like an error to us. Andrés Giménez went on to hit a three-run homer with two outs. It’s just the third time this season Fried has allowed more than two earned runs. He dropped to 10-3 with a 2.13 ERA. His next start likely will come Sunday against the Mets.

Besides for Elly De La Cruz, practically no Reds got even close to squaring Fried up. The only run he gave up came after a single from De La Cruz where he advanced on a ground out and then scored on an error. Otherwise, just one other Red reached second base – Santiago Espinal, who was picked-off there by Fried – and they had just three measly hard-hit balls in total. He now has an incredible 1.92 ERA on the season and has been one of the most effective pitchers in the whole league. He’s scheduled for a two-start week coming up against the Blue Jays and Mets with both starts on the road.

Fried looked mortal here relative to how well he’s pitched this season. The Orioles sent seven men to the plate in the first inning and scratched two runs across. Then, they tied the game in the sixth inning and cost Fried the win. He didn’t seem comfortable with either of his sliders here and really leaned on his cutter and curveball, which combined to make up 64% of all the pitches he threw. Nevertheless, his next start is scheduled to come on the road against the Reds.

Fried did his part in striking out nine today, but he had no margin for error with the Yankees getting blanked by the Red Sox. It’s the 13th time in his last 14 starts that Fried has allowed two runs or fewer. He’ll face the Orioles on Friday.

Fried punched out four batters on the evening and didn’t walk a batter. The Royals scratched out a run against him in the second inning as Jac Caglianone plated a run with a ground out, then Jonathan India swatted a solo homer in the sixth inning. That was the extent of the damage. The 31-year-old southpaw generated 12 swings and misses on 91 pitches on the night — eight of them on his fastball — while posting a CSW of 23 percent. Now 9-1 on the season, he’ll bring a stellar 1.84 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and an 81/18 K/BB ratio (88 innings) into Sunday’s showdown against the Red Sox at Fenway Park.

The 31-year-old southpaw piled up seven strikeouts on the evening, needing 103 pitches (62 strikes) to navigate his six scoreless frames. The biggest threat against him came in the opening inning as an infield single and a walk put two men on with two outs but Fried rallied to get Carlos Santana to pop out to first base to end the threat. He generated 17 swings and misses on the night — nine of those on his fastball — while posting a CSW of 34 percent. Fried has been absolutely dominant through his first 13 starts for the Yankees, going 8-1 with a 1.78 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and a 77/18 K/BB ratio across 81 innings. He’ll do battle against the Royals in Kansas City his next time out on Wednesday.

Three of the six runs allowed came on homers by Shohei Ohtani. It was easily his worst start as a member of the Yankees, and it was his first loss as a member of the organization, dropping his record to 7-1. Fried was due for some regression, and still has that outstanding win-loss record along with an ERA of 1.82. Expect him to bounce back against a lineup that does not have Ohtani next week when he faces the Guardians.

Fried had been stuck at 6-0 for three weeks now, even though he allowed a total of four runs over 18 innings in his previous three starts. This finally makes him 7-0 with a 1.29 ERA. He is 2-0 with a 2.48 ERA lifetime at Coors Field. Expectations are that he’ll pitch in L.A. against the Dodgers next time out.

Fried’s excellent season continued as he set down the Padres easily besides for a mammoth solo home run by Jackson Merrill. It was no matter though, as they rarely threatened otherwise and Fried continued to find his strikeout stuff. This was his fourth outing of the year with at least seven strikeouts, a mark he only hit 10 times last season in 29 starts. Fried with a strikeout rate that’s better than league average – which is where he’s at right now – is a clear top-10 pitcher in fantasy baseball. He’s set for a two-start week coming up against the Mariners and Mets.
