He’ll take the place of Taylor Rashi in the Diamondbacks’ bullpen. The 25-year-old southpaw has made four appearances in the big leagues this season, registering a 10.80 ERA, 3.60 WHIP and a 1/4 K/BB ratio across 3 1/3 innings between the Mariners and D’Backs. He’ll give manager Torey Lovullo another option in the middle innings.

Garcia gets the boot from the active roster with both Kyle Nelson and Jalen Beeks (back) in the fold for the Diamondbacks. Garcia has some long-term upside, but can be safely avoided in fantasy leagues for the foreseeable future.

Garcia joins Arizona’s relief mix a couple days after being acquired from the Mariners in the Josh Naylor trade. The hard-throwing 25-year-old southpaw made his big-league debut earlier this month with Seattle after posting a 28 percent strikeout rate this season in the upper minors. He could factor into the Diamondbacks’ high-leverage mix at some point in the future, but he’ll likely operate in middle relief for now.

The 25-year-old southpaw recently spent a few days with the Mariners where he posted a 4.50 ERA, 3.50 WHIP and 1/3 K/BB ratio over two innings. It’s possible that he could jump right into the Diamondbacks’ bullpen, though they may want to give him some time at Triple-A Reno first before thrusting him into that role.

Garcia made two appearances with Seattle in the series against Milwaukee and struggled to throw strikes while allowing a pair of runs in his pair of innings. He could be back before the end of the summer, but Jackson Kowar is heading up to take Garcia’s place in the meantime.
