Gordon entered a 1-1 game to start the fourth and then went about retiring 15 of the 16 batters he faced in his first appearance since allowing one run in an inning on September 20. He ends his rookie season 6-4 with a 5.34 ERA and a 72/19 K/BB in 86 innings over 14 starts and six relief appearances. It should be good enough to keep him on the Astros’ 40-man roster this winter, but the team would probably rather have him in Triple-A than in the major league rotation to open 2026.

Gordon was just optioned to Triple-A on Saturday but he’ll return to join the Astros’ bullpen with Lance McCullers Jr. (hand) hitting the injured list on Friday night. The 26-year-old southpaw holds a 5.67 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and a 64/15 K/BB ratio over 73 innings with the Astros this season. He will be available out of the team’s bullpen for Friday night’s showdown against the Braves.

The 26-year-old southpaw made a spot start on Friday night, allowing four runs over 4 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Rangers. He’ll continue to function as extra rotation depth for the Astros at the Triple-A level.

Gordon gave up five hits, walked two and struck out two. The Astros are trying the 26-year-old in the rotation again and once again his starts just aren’t good enough. Gordon has a 5.67 ERA this year and isn’t a recommended fantasy option if he continues to pitch out of the rotation.

The 26-year-old southpaw has already appeared in 15 games (13 starts) for the Astros on the season, compiling a 5.64 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and a 62/13 K/BB ratio across 68 2/3 innings. He’ll take the place of the injured Kaleb Ort (elbow) on the team’s active roster and will start on Friday night against the Rangers in Arlington.

Just one day after Gordon was bumped from the Astros’ rotation and optioned to Triple-A, he returns to provide a fresh arm with Josh Hader (shoulder) landing on the injured list. It’s unclear if the plan is for him to serve as a long man in the bullpen or if he’ll be deployed in a traditional role to neutralize left-handers.

With Cristian Javier returning from the injured list to join the Astros’ rotation on Monday, there was no longer a spot available for Gordon. The 26-year-old southpaw posted a 5.27 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and a 60/12 K/BB ratio over 66 2/3 innings in 14 appearances (13 starts) with the Astros. He’ll continue to serve as extra rotation depth at the Triple-A level.

Romy Gonzalez, Trevor Story and Abraham Toro all took him deep over the Green Monster. None were cheapies, though. Gonzalez’s did bounce off the lip at the top of the wall, but the pitch was crushed at 112.6 mph and would have been a homer anywhere. Gordon dropped to 4-4 with a 5.27 ERA. With the Astros having next Thursday off and close to getting some pitchers back, we’re guessing Gordon’s looking at a demotion.

Gordon gave up six hits, walked none and struck out six. The 26-year-old left-hander allowed two solo home runs in the first inning, but settled in after that. Gordon has allowed six earned runs in his last two starts, but also recorded 10 strikeouts over 10 2/3 innings. He has a 4.74 ERA and 54/11 K/BB ratio in 62 2/3 innings this year. Gordon is lined up to face the Red Sox on the road next weekend.

Gordon allowed seven hits with two walks, and he struck out four. It was anything but a dominant effort for the 26-year-old, but he was effective enough for the win. The Astros are going to get some hurlers back, and Gordon seems likely to be replaced when and if that happens. If he does stay in the rotation, he likely faces the Athletics over the weekend.

It sounds like Gordon checked out fine after being struck in the head by a comebacker during Monday’s loss to the Guardians. The 26-year-old managed to remain in the contest following the incident and should avoid the injured list. It doesn’t seem like he’ll make another start before the All-Star break so it wound’t be shocking to see him optioned to Triple-A to bring in a fresh relief arm.

He had the excuse of pitching in Coors Field in a poor first start this month, but Gordon was facing an ice-cold Guardians lineup tonight and struggled again. The loss leaves him 3-2 with a 4.76 ERA, and it doesn’t seem like he’ll start again before the break, which could lead to a demotion to Triple-A.

Gordon served up a solo homer to Hunter Goodman in the first inning. A walk, hit, and a sacrifice fly brought a second run in to score for the Rockies in the third. Gordon allowed two more runs on four hits before his day was done with two outs in the fifth inning. He struck out three. The 26-year-old left-hander will take a 4.37 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, and a 41/7 K/BB ratio across 45 1/3 innings into a start against the Dodgers in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Gordon outdueled Zack Wheeler on Tuesday, just like everyone predicted. All kidding aside, the 26-year-old pitched well with just four hits allowed — all singles — and no walks issued against four strikeouts. Gordon is now 3-1 with a solid 3.98 ERA in his time in the Houston rotation, and he’s worthy of consideration even with a scheduled bout against the Rockies on Tuesday. That’s more insult to Colorado than compliment to Gordon, to be fair.

Gordon allowed seven hits, with two of those landing over the fence. The right-hander was able to strike out four with one walk in a decidedly average outing for the 26-year-old. Gordon has allowed 20 hits over his three starts in June, but he’s allowed only five earned runs over his 16 innings. He’ll face the Phillies on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old hurler walked one batter on the night while striking out five. The Astros staked him to an eight-run lead in the first three innings and all Gordon had to do was keep the train on the tracks to earn a victory in this one. The only damage done against him came on solo homers by Willi Castro in the fourth inning and Royce Lewis in the sixth. Gordon generated 10 swings and misses on 102 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 25 percent. Now 1-1 on the season, he’ll bring a 4.70 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and a 30/4 K/B ratio (30 2/3 innings) into Thursday’s matchup against the Athletics in West Sacramento.

The rookie left-hander racked up five strikeouts on the evening and didn’t allow a single base on balls. The only blemish on his night came on a run-scoring single off the bat of Will Wilson in his final inning of work. Gordon generated nine swings and misses on 75 pitches on the evening, posting a CSW of 29 percent. Now 1-1 on the season, he’ll tote a 5.11 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and a 25/3 K/BB ratio (24 2/3 innings) into Friday’s matchup against the Twins.

In another ballpark, Gordon would have fared well today. He struck out six and walked one. The two homers he gave up were hit 368 and 355 feet and would have been homers in 12 and 10 ballparks, respectively. Of the 14 balls in play he allowed, only one had better than a .500 xBA. The loss is Gordon’s first decision in four starts. He has a 5.95 ERA, but his 20/3 K/BB in 19 2/3 innings is pretty good. He’ll likely face the Guardians next weekend.

Gordon gave up seven hits, walked none and struck out four. The 26-year-old left-hander could have some AL-Only appeal if he remains in the rotation with Ronel Blanco (elbow) sidelined. Gordon has a 14/2 K/BB ratio and 3.75 xFIP in three starts despite a 5.52 ERA. Better days should be ahead of Gordon, who would start against the Rays at home next weekend as long as he’s still in the big leagues.

Gordon limited Tampa Bay’s lineup to just a two-run homer by Danny Jansen into the sixth inning of his second big-league start before giving up back-to-back doubles, which effectively chased him from the contest. The 26-year-old rookie lefty generated only eight swinging strikes, but he threw 59 of 83 pitches for strikes to finish with a strong 35 percent CSW. He’s proven that he can hold his own in the big leagues to this point and figures to take the ball on Sunday against the Mariners. There’s some appeal here for fantasy managers in extremely deep mixed leagues and AL-only formats.
